I had been trying to find a primary ob/gyn for quite some time (previous experiences with doctors in my area were not so good) I found Dr. Pathikonda and found some other good reviews for her, so I said why not? First off the wait was LONG. I waited an hour before even getting taken back to a room, then waited another 20 minutes before anyone came to see me, then another 15 before I even seen the dr. After that I got sent to a second waiting room and waited there for another 30 minutes before getting called into dr. Pathikonda's office. Now to the actual treatment, I was there for discussion of diagnosis/treatment of PCOS. She came in and gave me a pelvic exam which is understandable, but it was incredibly painful, like I was writhing in pain and gasping painful, she showed no concern, didn't stop and didn't offer an explanation as to why I was on the verge of tears for a simple pelvic exam. She finished up and told me that we would go over options in her office. I got dressed and waited. So we go in her office (I was there with my boyfriend) and she's telling me that I need an ultrasound to check for cysts so we can see if I do in fact have PCOS (fine with me) after she tells me that, I ask her if any of the IUD's would be possible to help treat PCOS if I do have it because I've tried MANY birth controls and they all affected me negatively. She simply said "No, you can't do that." no explanation as to why not. Then she proceeds to tell me that the possibility of my PCOS is worsened because I'm "so heavy" (I perfectly understand that the more weight you gain, the worse your PCOS gets, but I'm sure there could've been other ways to say it) Then she says, "If birth control is so bad for you than you just need to lose all this weight and you'll be fine" Ummm okay, then she turns to my boyfriend and says "You need to make sure she stops eating all those cheeseburgers." at this point I'm furious. She schedules my ultrasound, and I leave. Once I got my ultrasound and results, a week later she just shows me the ultrasounds, says I have cysts so it is PCOS, prescribes me birth control (wihtout even going over it with me) and tells me to take it when my next period starts, failing to take into account that I only get around four periods a year, and I had just finished my last period a month before, so I wouldn't get it for at least another four-eight months. Needless to say I never went back, never started that birth control, and I'm still searching for a new dr. If you don't like rude comments about your weight, and you like things to be thoroughly explained to you, I would suggest not going here. read more
