I live in DC so I am hardly in this area. I never knew about this one. One of my friends sent me an instagram reel of this place. As soon as I saw the chaat and bakery counter, I was hooked. We decided to go here on Sunday. Well, this is one of the biggest Patel brothers I have been to. The one closest to DC is pretty small. They have fresh vegetables and fruits. Also everything you want for Indian groceries. The best part of this place is their bakery and chaat counter. Bakery has puffs, samosas and various refreshing drinks. Right next to the bakery, they have samples for various other things you could buy from there. And then they have an awesome chaat section. Highly recommend paani puri. Try the medium flavor water with paani puri. My friends went all out ordering various chaats as you can see in my pics. Parking is easy to find here. Staff and service was great. Its customers can't seem to put a simple shopping cart away they're typically left in the open parking lot or on a curb instead of putting it away, leaving this to another person to deal with. In this case today, a cart was left out by a customer that did bump into my vehicle scratching it. This has been seen repeatedly and it quite ignorant and annoying. read more

I've recently moved from Ca to Va. I had to shop for quality Indian groceries to fill my pantry and was recommended Patel Brothers in Ashburn. It was delightful exploring the store and finding things in an organized fashion. Most of all special mention of Shivani at the cashier counter who went out of her way to help me load my car and answer all my questions. The food kiosk at Patel brothers is better in quality than a lot of restaurants near me. The last time I went, this really friendly young woman gave me a complementary aloo tikki chaat and it was phenomenal. Their raj kachori is also delicious. I was a little torn on how to rate this store. It's a nice addition to this area...but this is where the old Global...the old Shoppers...used to be. This is also almost around the corner from Lotte. They are doing very well in this area for sure, considering how busy it was/is. I try to stop by when I'm in the area. I don't do a lot of shopping here, mistly just pick up an item or 2. Sometimes I stop by the hot food and buy some fresh breads or freshly made fried foods. They have little kiosks to order fresh goods, and once oicke dup at the counter, can be paid for in the checkout line. I was in need of some Pakistani spices and was in the area, so I came here... it was my first time at an international grocery store which only caters to Pakistani and Indian cuisine and ingredients. They have a small café inside which serves all sorts of foods, much of the menu looked like items I'd see at side street cafés and at street vendors in villages in Pakistan. The isle where the spices were had a vast assortment with several brands to choose from. Their basmati rice selection was also quite vast. Prices seemed fair. I'd definitely return. read more

This Patel Brothers is the largest I have seen after Chicago. It's a huge warehouse with a ton of options! Their veggies are fruits are very fresh. They even had sugarcane and banana leaf that looked very fresh. In addition to Indian groceries, they also sell fresh food and have a chaat stand. Similar to Costco, they also had free samples of freshly made paratha and some sabzi laid out. We bought cutlet, Punjabi somosa, sabudana Vasa, methi balls and achari paratha from the fresh food place. They fry all their snacks in oil. I didn't realize it until they gave the packages and it was soaking oil. I have seen other Patel Brothers where they bake the snacks instead of deep fry. Nonetheless, the snacks here tasted delicious. Also bought Pani Puri to eat there. It was like a true India experience where they make and give you golgappas as and when you eat. Avoid this place like the plague. Crowded and congested most of the time. The prices are all jacked up. Parking lot is a joke and if you somehow manage to find a spot, lines and wait times inside are even worse. Return process is a nightmare. Clueless and classless cashiers who insist you have to buy something otherwise they won't process your return and who question if you took anything in the returned package. The store is super packed and also very high in price. I bought bread for $4.99 , It tasted like cardboard and super stale the package said Honest bread , Upon checking there was no manufacturing Date or Exp date on the package. I love Indian food. Working most of my career in Silicon Valley it was probably my go to dine out food. I've tried this grocery a few times and mostly buy frozen food. We do make our own Indian food but I get some Indian TV dinners to get my fix. Also, the rest of my family is not vegetarian so it allows them to sometimes eat what they want and not worry about what I have to eat. Pre-covid, I used to love local buffet's but now with remote work and no more buffets eating out is quite pricey. Hence I get a bunch of dishes from the frozen aisle. Great selection, vegetarian is towards the front of the store. I will say that the taste is more authentic or more spicey and hot. I like hot but I stay away from the hot labels b/c they are really too hot for me. Indian hot is like Korean hot, burn your month so you can't taste it, at least for me. I love the fresh Naan, which they offer, but in general I would have liked to see the more traditional thicker/fluffy tandoor oven type. Very large clean store - much better than grimy Lotte down the street. Good selection of freshly prepared offerings in the back of the store with the naan. I tried the veggie biriyani which was good. Lots of hot sauce offerings and a great place to get ghee in large quantities. Let's go with the positives first - they seem to have a phenomenal collection of Indian groceries, snacks, sweets and other food items, we also found many organic Indian (dry) pulses lentils and grains. We also found the organic batter for idli and dosa's. Now for some improvement opportunities - they need to have more organic vegetables and fruits both fresh and frozen kind (this time I only found organic ginger), they also need to improve the checkout process by having more open lanes especially on the weekends, the store could also use a bit of cleaning in the vegetable aisles. read more

My husband just bought 3 packs of "tandoori Naan." I was about to open the packet when I noticed disgusting MOLD spots all over the naan. This is just a few hours after our point of purchase. It infuriates me to know they're selling old product to naive buyers who may, or may NOT, take the time to carefully inspect their Naan. We will not be returning to this store ever again. And now I understand why the labels on their Naan packs don't have expiration dates- zero accountability. Food was fresh , but seemed little spicy for me . Ordering food was easy , but I wish there was more than 1 kiosk for placing the oder . Food came out fast and was nicely packed . Great Ambiance . Its huge .. even for someone who is used to regular lotte , this place felt big on the first trip. The produce section is very impressive. Bakery was a interesting touch . For Indian Groceries they are the best. But I am giving Two Star rating for their recently opened Chaat Service. The Menu for Chaat is not complicated like it looks. Clearly the men preparing the dish have no training or clue how typical Mumbai Chaat is prepare. Their Paani Puri Water was concentrated with Spice which does not taste good. Sev Puri the guy who prepared was very very heavy on spicy sauce than actually Raagda Masala(typically mash potatoes, dice onions and tomatoes). Having heavy sauce is waste and does not taste good. Clearly for the spice reasons I observed most customers were ordering Dahi Puri which is low on spice and has yogurt. All being said let's see if the management fixes the problem. read more

Patel bros has a huge selection of Indian sweets, dals, spices, pulses, rice varieties, packaged snacks, variety of dosa batters etc, everything required for cooking Indian food at home. They also sell pressure cookers, Idli moulds etc. I love the selection of Rotis and Chapathis that are freshly made on-site. I buy those regularly including Organic whole wheat chapathis and Organic Idli Dosa batter. They are very low on organic produce. They only sell organic ginger. I hope they would include more organic vegetables and fruits That being said, I have 2 gripes- one being even though they sell lots of samosas, paneer rolls, aloo tiki and such snack items- they are all very spicy for my taste. I tried a variety of those and burnt my tongue eating those and so did my children. I now steer clear of their spicy snacks aisle. I wish they could tone down the spice heat level so that people who eat moderately hot dishes would have choices and buy them as well! My second gripe is the store hours. Why close at 8 pm? The workers start cleaning and sweeping floors well before closing time and as someone with dust allergy, it is highly aggravating to my nose and throat. It will be more convenient to shoppers if they could extend the store hours to 9 pm and keep the sweeping of floors after that Hope management takes notice!! read more

The cafe samosas, snacks and the tea was cold. It was too late to go back when I found out because by then I was driving. The cafe associate was just as cold as the samosas. The best variety and quality of: - fresh Roti, Paratha and other Indian breads - Vegetables - Frozen items - Cold refrigerated items - Indian household items - Dry grains -- rice, flour, daals, beans etc The store is well managed and they aspire to make it the best Indian grocery store in the area. OMG Patels in Ashburn charged me $70 extra to my bill. $70 worth of food they didn't add to the tray they handed me. Wow how do they consistently act so fraudulent ? I am so disgusted by their practices. And this isn't the first time this has happened. I was in a rush and did not open the completely sealed tray they handed me. Patel brothers used to be good , I guess they were advertising. I went yesterday for grocery. They don't sanitize the shopping carts, cashier lane and don't even keep any hand sanitizer or wipes in front entrance. Cashier was wearing mask to cover lip and chin not nose. Her name is Dolly. She is really rude , while ring omg my grocery, she is singing and totally ignoring. I asked her, no sanitizer??? She replied go tell owner not me and she singing song the one was playing in store. Overall good selection ... but they need to do more on mitigating the bad publicity on price gouging .... as well as sanitary requirements.... no physical distancing markers near the checkout lines, no hand sanitizers, no sanitizing of carts.... no count or enforcement of the max # of people in the store at a time - a devil-may-care attitude with regard to Pandemic ! On the plus side, they had some unique ingredients like Moringa leaves in the fresh grocery section... with its health benefits outlined on the top of the aisle... it would also help if there are recipes posted, or may be on the bakery/ cafe section, a sampling section set up with a moringa dish ...to encourage folks to try ? read more
