There was lavender ice cream ($4) and free lavender lemonade and lavender mint tea. Capay Valley Vineyards was there for wine tasting and you could purchase a bottle ($$??) and drink it on site. Parking was not bad, even though we had to park on S.R.16 and walk in about a block and a half. I was a great, sunny, warm day for a little fun in the Capay Valley.

If you care about regenerative agriculture and nutrient density, this is the gold standard for Northern California. The absolute standout for me was MyHarvestValley.com . I'm a huge advocate for soil health, and their regenerative walnuts are a masterclass in what happens when you treat the land right. You can actually taste the difference, it's not just a snack; it's high-quality fuel. I ended up spending quite a bit of time there just appreciating the transparency of their process. Beyond the walnuts, the entire market is a treasure trove: The Meat & Produce: I was struck by the selection of properly raised meats and organic produce. Finding proteins raised with this much integrity is rare, and the variety of healthy eating choices made it easy to load up for the week. The Nursery Finds: I didn't expect to be scouted for my garden, but I saw some of the prettiest Japanese maple starts I've ever laid eyes on. The health and structure of those starts were stunning. The Vibe: It's rare to find a market that balances such a wide variety of specialty goods while maintaining that authentic, community-focused energy. I was pretty confident that I'd written about Riverdog in the past and was somewhat shocked to see that I praised only their eggs in my short initial review. Yes, the eggs are great, and everyone knows it. But I can make a long, long list of Riverdog products that consider to be top notch: green garlic, raw chickens, pork chops, carrots, daikons, asparagus tips, onions, black radishes, little gems when they're available, .... At the moment, their early girl and heirloom tomatoes are truly excellent. In recent weeks, I've gotten their squash and green beans -- excellent again, of course. Riverdog prices are not outrageous, in view of the high quality. Their wares merit a detour. The farmers (Trini and Tim) and their employees (shout out here for Becky) are all super-nice. So I paid for a month in advance (you pay by check either by the month or the quarter) and waited for my first pick up. Fortunately there are a few options for picking up your box in Napa (check their website to see if there's one nearby you) including one only a mile away from our home. Yeah! The pickup location, at least in my area, is in someone's carport which is fairly typical of CSAs, thank goodness for volunteers. Just verify your pick up by signing the clipboard by your name, grab your box or unload it into your own bags (if you take the box return it in your next visit) then prepare to be wowed by the amazing produce. Each week is a little but different and changes along with the season. What's always in the box is the most beautiful organic produce I've ever seen. This weeks box had a bunch of gorgeous rainbow chard which was sautéed along with Fatted Calf sweet sausage served on top of Model bread with poached eggs. Best chard ever! I've posted a few pics of the last few boxes, judge for yourself, Riverdog Farm is amazing. It doesn't get any better than this. PS... They also raise organic fed hogs and chickens. Picked up my first pork share (delivered along with my regular box pick up) and the cuts look so tasty. Can not wait to braise the fresh hocks. I've heard a lot about it but have never had to chance to stop by. Yelp was hosting an event at one of the local vendor stands so I used the opportunity to check out the farmer's market in general. I can see why it is so popular. I really got a sense of community walking around to the different stands. I love the variety; not just a bunch of stands selling the same stuff. Everything from fresh fruit, veggies, meats, cheese to artisanal baked goods. Everything looked so fresh! It was my first time at the market so I had to pace myself. I did end up getting a variety of goodies. Fresh pressed apple juice, black berries, asian pears, ribeyes (the big splurge), etc. It is very busy so I had to park a couple of blocks away but the walking was good for me given everything I ate, bought and sampled there.

These are kiddos are now in 10th, 9th, and 7th grade. When we first moved to Davis, the Farmer's Market was our religious Saturday stop. Popsicles from Fat Face, tamales from Montoya's were always a staple. As well as apples from "Apple Steve" always happy to give a sample and a big smile and just felt like instant community. We don't get the chance to go as often as we used to with weekend sports, but still love the community vibe and enjoy having a local market to get fresh fruits and veggies!

You've got to get there early though because when you get there late, it does get a little bit picked over. There's always somebody playing music, which is a nice touch too! I also love that it's under the bridge so that even in the dead heat of the summer, it's not that bad. I try to go here every single week, but I am available.

What makes this farmers market so special is that there's truly something for everyone. Many of the produce vendors have been staples for our family for years. You can find fresh vegetables, eggs, local crawfish, chicken, meat, bread, pastries, plants, dates, flowers..you name it, and it's probably there. The vendors are always welcoming, and there's such a great sense of community. It's wonderful to see so many people coming together to support local farmers, makers, and small businesses. Whether you're shopping for groceries, grabbing a bite to eat, or just enjoying the atmosphere, it's always a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Every year the Midtown Farmers Market grows a little (or a lot) more and there's just so much to…read morelove. I recommend going as early as you can. It's really nice walking through before it gets too crowded, and the popular vendors will still have your favorite items if you get to them early. We like to bring our dog and walk through the market and then walk through Midtown and Downtown and it's so fun to grab a drink, get a few ingredients for weekend meals, maybe a snack and support local. There's a good mix of farm fresh produce and flowers, some eggs and meat options, baked goods, dips, condiments, and seasonings, plus shopping like clothes, gifts, jewelry, and even house plants. Honestly, this market has a bit of everything. Live music- yeah they have it! I feel so lucky whenever we walk through the market because it brings everyone together and highlights a lot of what makes our city so special.

Situated in the plazas parking lot so parking is ample, however, there are signs posted with restrictions for farmers market visitors. When we visited on 2/28, there were 3 rows of stalls. I really enjoyed walking up and down checking out every booth. I loved the variety of food trucks and fresh farm stands to unique artisan booths with things such as pottery, wood crafts, jewelry, and more.
