I usually have a decent experience at 74 Victoria with passport renewals except for this time. I went in with all my papers to get a passport for my 3 year old daughter. Lets be honest; when filling out these papers, it can get tricky and the wording is often misleading. I will take full ownership for any errors I made while filling these out. I wait in the first line to get my number.... the guy (probably my age - early 30's) doesn't greet, doesn't smile (even though i do) and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is a belittling passive aggressive comment about something that I filled out wrong. I mentioned that this paper work isn't the easiest to understand while not contesting that I filled it out wrong. He immediately insults me again with "if you read it carefully; you would have done it correctly." I've been in customer service for 16 years and I would be fired on the spot if I spoke to someone like that. I especially love that he did it in front of y 3 year old. Instead of throwing immediate insults and hating your life - dear sir at the front desk, Maybe you can learn manners, politeness and how to talk to a human & a lady. Happy New Year. read more

It was just as everyone stated below...kudos to this govt passport office...very well run. Our passports lapsed and wouldn't you know it, we needed them the next week. Joined hordes of other desperate people arrived en mass before 8 am Monday morning...there were more than 60 others ahead of me. You start to worry especially as you head up the stairs to the 3rd floor but end up waiting in the stairwell queued up near the ground floor. Impressive - efficient processing. I was in and out requesting expedited processing for the 3 of us within 1/2 hour. The employees were professional and just with it checking documents before queuing..you do need to pay attention to the counter as the numbers scroll by quickly. read more

HI i was there today (11/21/12) i was there first one on line... i got there by 7:30 they open at 7:50 the outside doors...they let you into the office at 8:00am...if you have all your paperwork ready you should be out of there pretty fast.. I was at the door at 8:08am... yes that fast.. it was my first time getting a passport.. people are friendly... and there was a security guard.. and older women... that entertain us before we went in.. it was like stand up comedy she is really funny.. hope it helps... very quick and easy. read more

It was so quick and easy for me to get my passport thanks to the lady at the front of the desk for helping me fill out my application. Sometimes it gets busy but you should be ok if you choose to get your passport delivered but make sure someone is home to accept it! read more

Thank you to the good people of Passport Canada, Victoria Street for the efficient service and to Yelpers for all the hints. I arrived at 7:40am on Monday morning (the busiest day of the week) and 20 people were already in line outside the building. At 7:52am, we were allowed up to the 3rd floor passport office in single file, and doors opened promptly at 8am. The security guard was stern but helpful with the instructions. I was processed and out of there by 8:15am. I showed a plane ticket for next day in order to receive same day service (and paid the extra fee). As a US resident, I called the main number last week and was advised I could provide back-up references as they need to be able to reach them for same-day. I came back to the passport pick-up location down the hall at 3:05pm the same day and it was ready -yay! Now having a drink at Batch, the brewery across the street from the passport office. Completely frustrated with Passport Canada's service. What kind of hours are 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM for an essential government service? The office closes at 4:30 PM SHARP -- when I arrived at the office 30 seconds too late, the doors were locked and no one answered when I knocked, even though I could see people inside when I peered between the doors. A lady eventually came out and told me they can't help me because they're closed. No sympathy, no empathy, no help and no service. They want to go home so badly that they can't help you out if you arrive 30 seconds after 4:30 PM. How about at least extending your hours so that we don't have to leave work early, only to be told that we're 30 seconds too late? read more

Personal Experience: This review is limited to one worker only who seem to be very rude, don't know where to go to complain so here I am, he not only consider applicants as beggers but when calling them in from the queue, no eye contact and on the top of it arrogant responses. Seems like had a fight at home or something. Please don't reflect personal matters at work, become a bit social. read more

The office opens right at 8AM so I got there at 7:40. There were about 20 people already in line OUTSIDE the building where we all waited until about 7:50 when they let us into the building and then made us walk up 2 flights of stairs to the 3rd floor (I'm guessing to help preserve the original line order). This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars ... I'm not sure why they make you wait outside (the walk didn't bother me). Once there, we waited in the hall outside the doors until 8AM when the doors were promptly opened. I got my ticket within 5 minutes, waited another 5 minutes and was out the door by 8:20AM! The staff were very courteous, helpful and efficient. I would suggest that if you can wait a bit, you might want to consider going after 8AM so you 1) don't need to wait outside, 2) can take the elevator up (if that's what you want to do!). There was absolutely no one in line when I left and maybe less than 20 people waiting. The security guard warned us to keep an eye on the screen for your ticket number - they don't call out the numbers and if you miss your number, you have to go back and get another number. They do serve people in the order in which they arrive ... the letter in front of your ticket number is simply to tell the staff what type of transaction they'll be doing ... I had the letter E in front of mine because I was submitting 2 passport applications. read more
