The Passeig del Born is located within La Ribera and is just behind the Basilica of Santa María del Mar. This long square was formally a jousting area (as its shape indicates) and as a place where religious dissenters were burned during the Spanish Inquisition. Today it's an epicenter for other public activities, including tapas bars, patio dining, trendy shops (with various takes on the Born name), hip nightclubs, and just hanging out. Gayle and I wandered through this leafy plaza/street on several occasions during our recent stay in Barcelona.
