I have this theory that because guys shop less often than women do, there's a natural tendency for manufacturers of menswear to charge so much for guys' clothes. Women can leave the house with so much more to show for P1000; the same amount will only net a guy maybe 1 shirt and a 3-pack of socks.
Nowhere is this theory of mine in full force than at the Pasig City Public Market. I'm sure that it's a colorful and bustling place during the day as people buy their meat and vegetables there, but at night (which is the only time I've ever been there) the whole ground floor looks deserted, and as you do your rounds of the clothing stalls on the second floor, glancing down at the ground floor calls to mind fight scenes in bad (and sometimes good) action movies in the 1990s. But no matter what the place looks like, you can't beat the price. My wife has walked away with more than 20 pieces of clothing for less than P2000. I walked away with just socks and fake Wayfarers, but still spent P300. I rest my case. read more
