I only have two malls i consistently go in San Diego, the Fashion Valley Mall and the UTC Mall…read more However, UTC mall is more of a leisure... to walk around and kill time, for my son to play at the playground, for the festivities on the holiday season especially Xmas, to have family fun dates and good food experiences at nearby restaurants and the mall I always go to every time I have issues with my Apple iPhone and techs. The fashion Valley Mall tho, is my main mall. This is the mall where I actually do most of my shopping. We watch movies at the AMC theater when we have extra time and get food at the cafeteria/food court area after hours of walking. My son never misses going inside the Laderach to get a free taste, the best chocolate there is. We love going to this mall, especially with my son now being a teenager, we would most likely be doing lots of our shopping activities here especially at his favorite boutiques, like the zumies, Hollister, Rayban, and plenty others I do not recall.... We also love going to The escape room where the mall is. My favorite is the Nordstrom Rack! ;) The holidays tho could get really packed and busy but there's alot of nice things to see and lots of good deals to look forward to.

Hello May!! Came to…read moreFashion Valley on what must've been an off Sunday because...where was everybody? I hadn't been here in years, fully prepared to fight for parking, but jokes on me. Endless spots to park! That's a first! Are malls dead now? How are stores surviving? Anywhoo, I still spent more than planned. Damn you, Sephora! Pros: *Surprisingly easy parking (a rare mall miracle) *Huge mix of stores from bougie to budget - Louis Vuitton, Coach, Hollister, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, H&M, Zara, and Gucci to name a few *Open-air vibe with palm trees; very San Diego aesthetic with a tropical feel; complete with fountains and artistic landscaping *Solid food options with a food court, cafes, and kiosks, Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, and my fav, True Food Kitchen *Clean and well-maintained and easy to wander around *There's a lot of variety here to keep you entertained *They have seasonal events that is a nice addition to shopping Cons: *Felt oddly empty for a Sunday..kinda eerie but it may be an introvert paradise *Dangerous for your wallet (you will overspend) *Some stores seem like they're hanging on by a thread *Malls just don't hit like they used to despite the pros- mainly because everything has gone up! Shopping isn't as enjoyable when things cost an arm and a leg. Overall: 3.5 Stars - Still one of the nicer malls around if you're in the mood to stroll, shop, and accidentally blow your budget (Guilty!). Would I come back? Only if my bank account approves!

Plaza del Zapato gives you two very different experiences, depending on what time of day (or night)…read moreyou come here. During the day, there is a small indoor shopping center that cells clothing, shoes, and accessories. There is a nail place downstairs, and restrooms that cost 5 pesos to use. The parking lot is a pay lot, but its pretty cheap. The place is largely safe, as it is located in Zona Rio. Across the street is Plaza Rio, so you can get away with parking there and shopping here for a bit, if you're looking to shop in both locations. At nighttime, this place becomes a booming party area, with many interconnected bars. The only place that I can compare this to is Seville Quarter in Pensacola, Fl (a throwback to my military years). The turnout here is decent at night, and it's a mix of locals and people from the US. There is a large parking lot around the corner, in which you can park while you party it up. Much like the daytime fare, parking here at night won't break your bank if you're coming here on a budget. The service here is decent, and the workers are friendly and helpful. The locals are pretty cool, too. You're safe partying here, as long as you don't look for trouble. Cheers.

The craft beer scene had blown up, and a good friend wanted to show me the ins and outs. Plaza del Zapato blew me away. It's essentially a mall of several craft beer joints and I am sure other places. We focused on the craft beer and just wandered from this little intimate spot to that. The beers were could, the crowd was diverse, and we had a great time. It was VERY crowded on a Saturday night, so come prepared for some good beer and heavy crowds if you come on a weekend evening!
