I cannot tell you how pleased we were with Schumann Construction. I have rarely met two…read moreindividuals who took more pride in their work than Dave and Rob Schumann. They undertook our MAJOR remodel (altering every side of our home) which other contractors would not touch. When subcontractors, suppliers, and enormous unforeseen pre-existing conditions dished out their worst, Dave and Rob had our backs. When I would dream up a mid-project wish list and ask if I could have this or that changed or added, they would good naturedly tell me I could have anything I wanted. Then, they would find a way to produce my desired result built to code and built to last. Their workmanship is superb! I have been raised in the construction business, traveled to major historic sites throughout the world, invested in some high quality antiques, and subsequently, developed an educated, discriminating eye for fine craftsmanship. Quite frankly, Dave and Rob were adamantly and consistently even pickier about our home than I. Always, always, always, our desires as customers came first. Every single day they treated my husband and I, our daughters, our elderly parents, and any of our curious guests with cheerfulness and respect. Our home is now remarkably strong and beautiful. Beyond all of that, my husband was very ill during a portion of our remodel. Dave and Rob ensured we could stay in our home all the while to the extent of temporarily hooking up our washer and dryer amidst the construction area and moving any furniture from area to area repeatedly throughout the process. I am incredibly proud to live in a home remodeled by Schumann Construction, but, honestly, prouder to have befriended Dave and Rob, as a result.

Dear Dave, I wanted…read moreto say thank you for all of your promises and big talk about our tear down project. Hearing for several months that you, "were on the case" was very reassuring and kept us in suspense with what might be coming. Deadlines came and went but you weathered them all with your folksy, "straight-talk" approach entertaining us with anecdotes that made us laugh. We were excited about our options available whic the "county approved." Did you know that the silly county actually now says we can't do those ideas? We are guessing you talked to the wrong county by accident. Another funny one liner we guess. We also assume that all the text, emails and phone calls that went unreturned were simply "technical issues" that you often mused about. In the end, we worked harder on this than you did. We now have a survey done and actually KNOW what can be done. A REAL builder has stepped in and will get our business. But we'll keep an eye out for your comedy show at bars in the area. We are sure you'd be fun to have a beer with. Just not much else. Thanks for the Epic waste of time. The one star rating turns out to be fairly generous on our part. We have already begun sharing our experience with others in the area. Good luck in future endeavours and perfecting your approach to the next poor sap. They says that the only way to truely know good is to have some bad. We can safely say we now have a low bar to compare against. Signed- Quinn

All attempted communications with with Kuba during this time have resulted in nothing. All we seem to get are empty dates and deadlines filled by getting other people into their new homes while IGNORING issues that have been promised to fix. There is a GAPING HOLE next to my house where the ground continues to erode. The yard facing the lake is unusable due to the fact that the grading is so bad it is an absolute swamp. Has never dried out since you "finished the build." The neighbor has had to deal with an unsafe piece of sidewalk his crew broke and remains unfixed. We continue to wait for a ramp at the front door so our family can enter. At this point, any good feelings I had about this process and using Kuba as our builder have significantly diminished. I remember clearly him remarking how others companies disappear and do not follow through. How are promises of phone calls and no response for requested updates any better? Is it any different? I am making one last ditch effort here to salvage this thing and get some action on your part. I am frustrated and angry it has been almost a full calendar year. Issues that were promised to be fixed and remain unresolved: 1. Please build the ramp so my mom is not in fear of falling every time she tries to enter. As promised, this should be of the same material as the deck, the top of the ramp should be the size of the current cement pad and be level with the front door (SAFETY ISSUE) 2. Please fix neighbor's sidewalk (SAFETY ISSUE) 3. Please address the gaping hole next to our home (STRUCTURAL ISSUE?) - wiIl just dumping cement in there cause excess pressure on the foundation? 4. Please provide the gate on the top of the deck from the same material as the deck (SAFETY ISSUE) 5. Please fix the grading in the yard (yes, it absolutely needs to be addressed by you as it should have been done correctly as part of the build)

From the initial walk through to the final touch ups, this company did an outstanding job. Let me give you a quick overview of how easy it was to work with these contractors. First, the initial sales person, Michael, was incredibly knowledgeable and able to see the vision we had for the first floor. He took a good number of photos and then met with other project managers at their office. From here, we met with an amazing designer, Halley. She answered every question I had and promised me she would guide me along the way. I had some ideas, and everything I forgot, she gently guided to a solution. I was able to pick everything from the exact sink and faucet, to backsplash and flooring. The amazing communication continued throughout the project using an app called buildertrend. We knew when the contractors were arriving for each step of the process. We were also able to ask questions through the app and received quick responses. I did have a couple of change orders, and even those were handled seamlessly. My project has been done now for about three months, and every day I love seeing the finished project.

About 1/2 hour later, received phone call from technician's informing that it was the blower and it would need to be ordered. He said he'd let me know if he can get part. June 15th- No word back. Texted cell number of technician if he was able to order the blower. Technician responded back that yes, it would be in tomorrow. June 16th 7:17am - Texted technician to let me know when blower can be installed. Received no response, until 4:28 pm when I missed phone call. Called Ryf back and went to answering service. The answering service told to call Ryf back at 7:30 am on Friday as this was emergency phone service. I saw a voice-mail on my phone and listened. All it said was to call Ryf to schedule time tomorrow. Texted technician to let him know I received message and tomorrow is good. Received a message back saying he didn't send message and call shop in the morning. Received a second text from technician stating that this was his personal cell phone and to stop sending him texts. June 17th 7:30 am - 7:45 am - Called Ryf 7 times and kept going to answering service who had no way of contacting technician or employees. Found a number on my phone that came after the call from Ryf. Spoke with second technician who berated me for sending early morning texts to first technician. I told this second technician the first technician initiated the conversation by calling me on his personal phone. Second technician says in an unfriendly, threatening tone, 'Do you want your blower installed?' I said yes, to which he says I have to be patient and it will be installed today or early next week. I told the second technician that I have been patient and haven't heard anything back to get this scheduled; and that I called immediately after last night's phone call from Ryf and it went to the answering service who said to call back tomorrow at 7:30. The technician said he'd meet me at the house. The technician that did show up was rude, walked right by me stating his name, then asked how is this being paid for? Not so much as a sorry, good morning, nothing. As I write this, it is understandable how these companies completely believe that the customer is never right as they rake you over the coals. I do not recommend this company for HVAC services to anyone. Rude, inept, irresponsible employees. The company is unprofessional and will not keep in touch with you. And some advice for the company: if your employees don't like receiving text messages from customers, don't have the employee contact the customer from their personal phones. If your company says you open at 7:30am, then have an employee there at 7:30 am to answer the phone, not the answering service. Give classes to your employees on customer service. It goes a long way.
