Unless there was more seating hidden…read moreupstairs or around a corner in the back, In Den Wittenkop is a pretty small place, so a reservation is probably a good idea. It's certainly a charming little place, and on a slightly drizzly day it was a very pleasant place to be in from the cold and rain.
The Mosselen Natuur (plain steamed mussels) were big, meaty, well-cleaned, and tasty, but if you're not a shellfish fan, the Stoofpotje van Varkenswangetjes (pork cheek stew) is a great choice. Extremely tender pork cheek with minimal excess fat, and a lot of it, with a delicious red wine sauce plus much better fries than we'd had earlier on the main square made my night. I'd say that this was the best meal I had in our trip to Belgium, definitely one I'd repeat if we visit Bruges again!
