Save A Lot - last chance markdown cart - lots of candy

Today T-Bones were $5.99/lb - thinking about it for later in the week. Plenty of chicken drumsticks for about $1/lb. Good enough selection to get by on other basics to knock everything off the list while it is raining and get back home. UPDATE: Stopped in again and grabbed t-bones (found a pack that was closer to porterhouse than t-bone with bigger tenderloin portion). Reasonable size packs with two steaks between $10 and $15. On the return visit - also saw the last chance markdown cart up front with candy that was past their best by dates, all under a $1. Grabbed some Sweet Tart ropes and Crunch bar. UPDATE: It's close to where we're staying so we popped back in as we decided to cook again. This time beef at $5/lb for pot roast and a reload on snacks and soda. Decided on this option over $8/lb ribeyes and $1.79 pork chops (and even cheaper drumsticks).

I went to Lane 3 and said I thought Lane 4 was open because the light was on. The cashier, Lillian, snapped back: "Yeah, I dunno where she is." I saw signs for a free turkey giveaway and since I had already put my name in, I wonder when the drawing would be held. I asked Lillian, who said with an attitude: "I don't have a clue." Then she called over, loudly, to the cashier on Lane 3 (who had returned) and asked if they had any slips for the turkey drawing. I explained I had already put my name in and Lillian looked rather perturbed, as if why I was asking about it if I'd already put my name in. I paid for my things and left. I got to where the shopping baskets are by the entrance and I hear Lillian shout after me that: "I think we have 2 or 3 more turkeys left!" I'm not accustomed to being yelled at so I just ignored her. I had just started going back to this particular Save-A-Lot store after it was remodeled and I was told they no longer played country music. I started coming back in the beginning of December with my mom who wanted to check out the store as well. We both loved the store, but both found Lillian quite rude. The first time we went, my mom and I were in the back of the store, in the meat department, and we heard Lillian shout from the front of the store: "It's spittin' snow!" I mentioned to my mom how glad I was not to have a sleeping child with me. Lillian might have been enthused about some flurries, but she should learn some self-discipline. When my mom and I were checking out, Lillian yelled at my mom that "the grocery baskets don't go there!" (My mom was in the process of putting hers on the floor under the beginning of the conveyer belt like most stores let you put them.) As Lillian checked us out, I mentioned to my mom how happy I was that they got rid of the country music and were playing something better. Lillian (who I was not talking to,) chimed in with: "Really? I wish they'd play somethin' else." My mom and I both found Lillian not only nosey, but rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. When I got back home from a solo-trip to Save-a lot on the morning of Dec. 22, I called and spoke to the store manager about Lillian's behavior. I told her about Lillian ordering me to "Get over here!" and how Lillian didn't have a clue about the turkey contest despite working there, and some of Lillian's other behavior seen by my mom and I. The manager, a young lady, seemed very nice and mentioned she had been manager of the store for only two months thus far. The manager told me that she had gotten complaints about Lillian's behavior in the past, especially about her yelling at people. The manager also mentioned that many of their customers were used to Lillian. I told the manager that just because customers were used to Lillian's behavior that doesn't make it right. I had been in retail for over 30 years and how Lillian's behavior was inexcusable. The manager said they had several visiting managers in the store that day and that they would all speak to Lillian about her behavior. I went into the Cave City Save-a lot on Dec. 28th, not expecting to see Lillian ever again. There was another cashier who checked me out and I inquired about Lillian. The cashier told me that Lillian had requested the day off. I was shocked that the manager hadn't let Lillian go, especially since she told me that Lillian had other complaints about her. And they were playing country again in the store, leading me to believe they started playing it again to keep Lillian happy. I'll be going to another Save-a-lot....
