The best costume shop I have ever seen! Anything you could ever want in terms of costumes or party equipment is available under one roof, it is like Toys R Us but for slightly more grown up people. This place is like an aladdin's cave of the ridiculous. My friends were holding a pirate party and I happened to find this place at the last minute. There was a whole aisle just for pirate gear. I was in heaven. The staff were really helpful, I guess it has to be a pretty fun place to work, but even so, they were perfectly willing to indulge any degree of craziness, which was a good job in my case. You can hire or buy outfits. So so so much to choose from. Male or female, child or adult, you will find something. The difficulty is choosing which one! From Betty Boo to pirate wench, you name it, they've got it. They also provide party decorations for the whole shebang, or maybe just a plastic sword and pirate hat, what ever you want. Their window displays give great inspiration as well, the last one I saw was for a beach party so had lots of inflatable plamtrees and grass skirts! At hallowe'en they don't just go for the easy option, last hallowe'en they had a Beetlejuice inspired display. Geniuses. Pop in if not just to kill time before your train. Such a fun shop. read more

This is just like a giant version of the "dressing-up box" I shared with my brother and sister as a kid. Only the fun thing about this place is the costumes come in all sizes! WARNING: this shop is for big kids and anyone void of a sense of humour or fun should not bother walking through it's magical doors. Separated over 2 floors the top section is part essentials, like balloons, table wears, masks, party bags, hats, props and costumes to buy. Downstairs there is even more...wigs and amazing costumes to hire. So this shop really is pretty amazing but what makes it even better is the helpful staff. Costume shops are meant to be fun and these guys make sure it is. They'll find your size, suggest accessories, even blow up 50 Yelp balloons an hour before your event and not huff and puff that they have to stay a little later to do it! Just brilliant. Calling al South West Londoners - this is your one stop party shop for all your party needs. This place caters for adult parties, kids do's and everything inbetween. I was able to find everything I needed for a fancy dress (that I was hosting) one year in this place. I got my outfit, balloons, decorations and party bags from this place. Once, when I was a runner for a production company, I was asked to find green goo and this place even had that. You can find the most random things in here and I love the sheer amount of choice. In fact, just visiting makes you want to have a party just so you can kit out your living room in some sort of whacky theme. This place is an absolute saviour! Conveniently on my way home from work or a mere 10 mins on the bus, it has saved my dressing-up-rediculously-for-a-party-last-minute blushes on many an occasion! Hawaiian? Yeah of course. Zombie? Look no further. ABBA? Err... yeah that too! There is nothing they don't sell here. Not only do they do costume in a bag type outfits but they've got a huge section downstairs where you can rent some very impressive bespoke outfits. I came out of here looking like a teddy boy extraordinairre with a rented jacket. Too easy. Not only do they sell great (but a little expensive) costumes here but you can also get other party supplies too. It's a one stop shop for your balloons, plastic cups, banners and pinata donkeys! They have an informative website too so you can get inspriation online before you head down there. The only downside? Try getting in there on the morning of Oct 31st... it gets proper rammed like. Wow what can I say but I really felt like I have just walked into a treasure trove of fancy dress. There is two floors over this massive shop from masks, clothes, tableware, hats, etc. I really did not know which way to look as I was just blown away by it all. I am so happy that I have found this place as now I know where to go when I am looking for a great costume for a great price as everything in the shop was very reasonably priced. I also saw a mask that I loved and it was a hippo but that's only because I love hippos now I can possibly be one. So if you love fancy dress or planning a kids party then look no further and go here because they are bound to have what you need. read more

hehe! this place made me smile this morning. Fancy dress is a bit of a tradition between my friends and I (yes, me with the tiger face paint - shocking hey?) We're having a bad taste party tonight to celebrate our friend moving to London. (We're very very happy about this). So, obviously as I'm usually so well dressed and have impeccable taste (yes, really), a trip to the fancy dress shop was needed. You can buy everything here. But the best bit is you can also hire anything. And as much as I love Angels in Shaftesbury Avenue, their hire fees are extortionate! So I was impressed with this place. It's not as swanky, but I'm not sure fancy dress ever should be, should it? Lots of things to try on - seeing the other half wearing a mullet wig is always fun (yes, he still looking quite hot surprisingly)... I've got myself a long bright pink wig that wouldn't look out of place on a Las Vegas stripper. And yes, somehow we're still looking forward to this party more so considering my housemate decided he didn't need to join us as he has enough shocking shirts he could wear. it's true! He really has! The hire fee was about £25, the deposit about £70. Seeing your boyfriend dressed like David Hasslehoff? Priceless. I promise to update with more photos after the party, but all in all, very happy indeed with this shop. The staff were helpful - looking at pictures on the internet to get the look just right, and they don't mind that you're playing around just having a bit of fun. :-) read more

i can voch for this place, every office party we have (and there have been many) we always stop off at The party shop along the way. We do find it is cheaper to buy things than hire (and then you don't have to worry about finding the bits and peices the next day!) but it is full of the unexpected and I'd imagine if you are searching for stuff for your kid's goody bags then it would suit you down to the ground. How much do I love this shop?? I can spend hours here finding little bits and bobs to make a night perfect. I've gone here to find accessories and outfits for all sorts of themed parties: Halloween, 50s, 70s, 80s, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Pirates, Celebrities, Chavs and more. The place has never let me down. I even went here to get decor for a club night in Soho I was running and it came up trumps. Also great to go and look in the bargain bins downstairs, you never know what you'll find, much cheaper than hiring it. Go and let your inner child run free, who says you're too old?! read more

Clapham Party Superstore is brilliant and so convenient being next door to Clapham Junction Station. It was destroyed during the riots earlier this year and is only starting to re-open so could really do with everyone's support. They are currently selling some items in their shop and Debenhams (over the road) have kindly let them use part of the top floor as a shop. This shop has everything you ever need, promised. I love when halloween season kicks in, people queue outside the shop in looong queues because we all want to buy with them. This place is always useful for party decor, balloons, and the odd costume need. Staff is not always the most helpful (not to say rude, but more the classic young person who can't be bothered too much with the customers), and you pay a premium to get things from a bricks and mortar shop, but if I need confetti or streamers or colored paper plates, they almost always have what I need. Downside - no returns or exchanges. But overall, it's a great spot. read more

If you're looking for a fancy dress costume, this is the place to come. A huge choice of outfits are kept in the basement for hire for around 50 pounds a go. But if you don't want the hassle of hiring and having to bring the costume back, upstairs there's a whole load of costumes to buy - for both adults and children. The shop is filled to the brim with masks, swords, wigs, fake blood - we always come for Halloween.
