We did not get any soda, when I asked Gomez the bar/catering manager to bring soda to the table he advised that soda had to be purchased from the bar. The food was TRASH!!. Following my nephew's homegoing service, our family and loved ones gathered for the repast at The Red Door Meeting Place. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and left much to be desired in terms of professionalism, courtesy, and customer service. The owner, Kim, came across as rude and unprofessional, demonstrating a lack of compassion and people skills during a time when our family was already dealing with the loss of a loved one. At one point, she even responded disrespectfully to my nephew's mother simply because she asked for a paper towel. No family should have to deal with that kind of treatment, especially while grieving. Additionally, although everything had been paid for in advance, there was a disagreement at the end regarding what had been agreed upon. Thankfully, we had text messages documenting the arrangements and communications. During a time of grief, families deserve kindness, understanding, honesty, and professionalism--not unnecessary stress or disrespect. Based on our personal experience, I cannot recommend The Red Door Meeting Place to others. I hope this feedback encourages the owner to reflect on the importance of treating every customer with respect, particularly families gathering to honor and celebrate the life of someone they love.

I asked for a receipt so I could see exactly what I was being charged for and discovered that the price for the add-on chicken was incorrect, PLUS there was an automatic $5 service fee. A $5 service fee on a TAKEOUT order is excessive to me. I'm picking up my own food no table service, no server, no dining experience, so I'm not sure what exactly the $5 service fee is covering. I intentionally try to support Black-owned businesses and businesses in our community, but I also expect transparency and fair pricing. It's frustrating when the very customers who want to support an establishment feel like they're being nickel-and-dimed with additional fees. Unfortunately, as much as I love the kale salad, this experience was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. I hate to say that because I genuinely wanted to continue supporting this establishment.
