So this was probably the most unprofessional experience I had ever dealt with . And her name was Maxi Greenwood . I acquired about servers and bartending service , For my mother 70th birthday party. I believe my wife found her number on google . I reach out by text she was on it right away which I appreciate so I decided to give her a call . And that's when I realize this lady was extremely pushy and to the point rude . She didn't stop talking about how great she was and how amazing her company is and really when someone is trying to sell you on words I started questioning myself this might not be the place to go . After the phone conversation in which she did 95 percent of the talking I advise her I would speak to my wife and see if we can do a 3 way call as my wife is a-lot better with details and usually handles all of our events . We agree to speak again the next day . So she called and text me around 7 times the next day I told her I'm working and so is my wife and that we will call her when we where together. She didn't stop she kept sending me Yelp reviews and pictures of events she had done in the past just really pushy and honestly very annoying. At that point I just started to ignore her, finally as I was on are way to dinner with my wife she called I answer and to this point hadn't told my wife what I was feeling about her I thought maybe there all like this but not at all she did the same things to my wife and kept on talking and talking never letting my wife say a word, finally my wife had to interrupt her to tell her what we wanted not what she wanting to do for us . It didn't seem like she like that and kept pushing the drinks she wanted to serve, we want something nice wine and cadillac margaritas fairly simple but nice and she kept pushing mai tai's and some kind vodka lemonade we had no interest in . My wife finally gave me the eyes like get this lady off the phone and I told her we got to dinner and we had to go and that I would let her know next day . I got another 8 text messages during dinner . I ignore them all just extremely pushy and annoying. After what me and my wife decided there no way we are dealing with someone like that and I text her next day and told her we decided to go with someone else I told her she was out of my budget which was not the case it was her there was no way I would have someone like that at my mother 70th birthday party she seem unstable and honestly full of shit . We booked Maxi for a pool side birthday party in Palm Springs. She was above and beyond amazing. We have used Maxi for two events, my sister's 21st bday party and my wedding. She has her own bar top, which she can bring, or she can use the one you provide. She asks the number of adults and children at the party then provides a list of drinks she can make. It's about 80 drinks, divided by the type of liquor. Once you make your selections she makes your shopping list. She gives you what she believes will be needed but it's up to you to know your crowd and make the final call on whether you really need another bottle of whiskey if your crowd is more a fan of tequila. The greatest distinction between Maxi and other bartenders is her extremely lively demeanor. Everyone raved about how amazing and funny and energetic she was. Maxi bartended our wedding in Vista, CA this past Saturday. Let me tell you, it was THE BEST money spent. Everyone congregated around not one but our two bar set ups! Maxi has received countless praise since our wedding. Was it her bubbly personality, her infectious smile, or her amazing drinks? Surely it was all of the above. Maxi was a sweetheart from the beginning. Her communication was swift and clear. Most important, she first and foremost wants the best for you and your guests. Initially, we planned to have one bar set up in the reception area but after a little thought we figured it would be a good idea to not do a "self-serve" setup during the cocktail hour. Because this was a change in initial plan, we wanted this to be as painless as possible for Maxi. We just wanted someone to serve beer and wine rather than our guests doing it themselves during cocktail hour. Maxi graciously agreed to working the first bar and coming earlier than initially discussed but she was not happy with the idea of doing just beer and wine. She truly had our guests in mind she she stated, "look, we need to do the full bar because we don't want people to start with beer and wine then switch to liquor and cocktails." How could I have committed such a party foul?! I remember my college days, "BEER BEFORE LIQUOR, NEVER BEEN SICKER. LIQUOR BEFORE BEER, YOU'RE IN THE CLEAR." Maxi's recommendation was to have 2 signature drinks, which we agreed. She crafted a list of 5 cocktails for us to choose from. We chose 1) Pom Collins (twist on my husband's favorite) and 2) Paloma (my signature drink, a drink I never heard of because I am a novice drinker but sounded too amazing to pass up). Once we agreed on the drinks she created a thorough list of everything we needed to purchase for our bar. As we were circling the aisles of Costco, looking like complete alcoholics, we realized that the list that Maxi created was not just for the 2 signature drinks but for a fully stocked bar in the event that someone wanted something other than our signature drinks. We ended up spending a little more than we wanted but were comfortable doing so because we knew that in the end our guest would benefit. And because we questioned Maxi's professionally crafted list by over purchasing based on our non-professional judgement. Going back to communication, when we had questions during our shopping, Maxi was a quick text away. As our wedding day approached, Maxi sent us some sweet messages, reminding us how excited she was for our big day and also to see if we had any questions. On the day of our wedding, Maxi arrived early and ready. She worked our cocktail hour without a hitch. She transferred the bar supplies from our cocktail site to the reception site and was ready appease our guests all over again! What an amazing night! Everyone had an awesome time thanks to Maxi. Everyone was pretty much doing the drunk shuffle all the way home. If you're wondering how much alcohol was left, almost none....except for all the extra beer and wine my husband and I thought we should buy (a lot more than what Maxi recommended). Cost wise, we spent about $1300 for all the alcohol, soda, and waters. If we stuck to the list I think we would have spent between $1000-$1100, which is NOTHING for a fully stocked bar for 100 guests. As far as what Maxi charges, you have to inquire with her. I will say that she charges a little bit more than her competitors but she's worth it. She will be kind and considerate to you guests and not just a robotic drink maker. Earlier this year we went to a party and met Maxi who was the mixologist for the evening. Her menu of cocktails was unique and she impressed us with her friendliness and professionalism. We met with Maxi beforehand and went over our ideas but hers were much better so we went with it. First, we needed help with a specialty drink menu- she nailed it. We decided to do the shopping ourselves so she was kind enough to send us a detailed list of items needed. We had her bring two servers to assist with food service and cleaning up during and after the shower. The staff she brought were friendly and professional as well, very focused on their tasks all the while making sure our guests had everything they needed. Maxi helped us out with the event from A- Z. We are not crafty so she set up the tables and the space looked much better than what we'd have done. I hired Maxi to bartend for my post rehearsal dinner game. I hosted a Grand Gatsby Murder Mystery game at the Britt Scripps Manor and I needed drinks popular to the Prohibition Era. Where do I begin? I am one of those people who usually has everything under control. So when I was hiring people to staff my DIY wedding, they simply had to be the best. This was at my husband's parents' house, so it would require much more organization that a wedding at a venue that was set up for events. I immediately knew upon speaking with Maxi that she was the one to coordinate this wedding reception. Though she may be known as a bartender, she is far more than that--she is an absolute miracle worker in every way. She spoke with me in advance about almost every detail of the wedding and reception to ensure she had a complete picture of my vision. She offered me suggestions regarding table set-up, food preparation, tablecloths, staffing, and more, including ways for me to cut costs by borrowing tables, buckets, etc. She was very easy to communicate with and was available for questions/suggestions/changes up until the wedding. Although I was initially hesitant about paying for staffing, I think this was one of the best investments I made in my wedding. The days leading up to the wedding held many unforeseen challenges, and my "in-control" persona went completely out the window. There were dozens of changes or oversights (on my part) that would have thrown off even the most levelheaded person. Not Maxi. She made sure to assure me the night before my wedding, when I texted her frantically that there were a lot of changes, that it would all work out perfectly. And it did. Because of her. She worked with my friends and family who were there to help (all of whom said it was an absolute joy to work with her). She did all the things I told her would be done for her. She dug through piles of disorganized boxes (after I promised her that everything would be organized for her!!) and did whatever it took to turn my vision into a reality. She made tough decisions that were right on. She and her assistant served my guests with a smile and saw to it that they had an amazing time. Nobody would have ever guessed that she was up bartending the night before until after 2am--she was there bright, shiny, and totally present EARLY to make sure our brunch wedding went off without a hitch, and she stayed late to make sure everything was taken down, put away, and organized. I am forever grateful to Maxi and her team for what she provided on one of the most important days of my life. She is worth every penny and then some--I would highly recommend her not just as a bartender, but as a coordinator for any event.
