I was walking down Mass street and came upon this place. I thought it was another gourmet food…read morestore, but when I entered it was like a fairytail. This place is a bakers wonderland! Every single thing in this store is dedicated to making your baked goods, candy/cupcakes/brownies/cookies, the best they can be. They sell icing, a huge selection of candies to top your cupcake, curd and other food items. What I find more exciting than ingredients, is all their fabulous packaging. If you are constantly pinning DIY food gifts on Pinterest, your head is going to blow off in this place! Racks are backed with the most adorable cupcake papers, containers, birthday candles, gift boxes, bags and pans. You bake it, they have it AND it's 10 times cuter than what you already have at home! Even if you are not baking treats, stop in here and you are sure to find something. I walked out with sparkler candles, chocolate nibs and a trivet!

They also have a lot of party decorations and items of various themes. There is a kitchen baking area for classes and presentations. I've gone in to browse several times. The employees aren't particularly friendly (nor mean, just not inviting) and they usually seem busy putting out inventory or working on stuff behind the counter rather than approaching customers. That's my only complaint about the place.

This is a place where you can buy beads, brightly colored plastic forks and knives and blow-up gorillas. This is a great store to buy things for specialized items for parties. They have a wide selection of themes and colors to choose from, too. They have almost everything you would need for a party. Recently I needed a few things for a quick throw-together party and they had everything I needed at a decent price. Parking is plentiful and you never have to circle the block to find a space. The sales associates always seem to be helpful and in a good mood. I have never had an issues with customer service at Party America. The store seems a little old but that does not seem to be a factor. I do think their prices are high on some things. Often it is difficult to judge because the bigger WhateverMart stores can do volume pricing. Perhaps just the products that I buy at Party America are more expensive. I have been able to get some great deals, though. There are no coupons of which I am aware but that would be a huge help. Good selection, friendly customer service, easy access. Yeah, not a bad store for niche needs.

Staff is also pleasant and helpful. That doesn't change the aforementioned ennui that kicks in the moment I enter a party store, but it's unfair to judge PA based on my neuroses :)

There was one cashier, there was one person filling balloons, and a manager of some kind who didn't seem to be much help to either one of them. This person was clearly overwhelmed by the fact that several folks wanted balloons filled at 4p on a Friday night. The cashier was having some issue with the first person's transaction, but the manager was no help. I waited in line almost 20 minutes before someone behind me in line asked the manager "How long would it take to get my balloons filled once I pay?" The manager's reaction was super rude and she said to no one in particular "We aren't filling more balloons tonight." The person asked if they could buy them and pick them up in the morning and the manager just walked away. I was next in line by this point, so I waited. When it was my turn, I asked the cashier if I could pick up my balloons in the morning, and he said he didn't know. So I left my items with him, and left. I went just down the road to Hy-Vee where the selection wasn't as good, but the service was way better. I would recommend going elsewhere.
