    Bed Bugs
    Austin B.

Absolutely do NOT stay here. They have bed bugs and refuse to acknowledge it. I awoke to multiple mornings with more and more bites on my body. After some concern I removed the sheets to find the tell tell black specs and marking on the mattress. After going to management we were rudely dismissed and told that there were no signs of bed bugs, and that it could potentially be fleas because of a long term guest who had a dog in the room next door. They were adamant that they would not refund us and since they the hotel was full there was nothing they could do. Ontop of all this when checking into the hotel the bathroom with disgusting with brown marks in the tub and old hair/dust/dirt ontop of the tub. I would give this hotel a zero star if possible. Horrible experience. Plenty of other hotels. Don't put your body through the pain and suffering.

Hotel staff was indignant every step of the way. I said that I thought I should get a partial refund because of how bad the construction was. They told me that they thought the brief five-second spiel they gave me when I checked in constituted a verbal contract that I'd accept to pay full price no matter how bad the construction was. The stairway stunk of paint fumes so badly it gave me a sore throat. I called the main Hyatt support line. They pretty much laughed at me. I guess that's what they think of their customers. A "concierge" told me that she never uses the hotel soap and she didn't think anybody did so it's fine they were out. Both the Hyatt support concierge and the hotel manager was just looking for an argument the whole time rather than to resolve anything. I'll never stay at a Hyatt again, anywhere, ever, under any circumstances. This particular property appears to be running a blatant, illegal bait and switch. They don't mention the renovation on travel sites, which are what VIRTUALLY EVERYONE BOOKS THROUGH in 2023, and then they give you a five-second spiel about construction when you get there and call that a verbal contract? That seems like a textbook illegal bait-and-switch to me.

Sofa sag! It's unfortunate!!!! Obviously this is because only this side has an arm and the side table.

Normally, this place is on point, but the past few years have not been nice to this establishment as it ages. For some reason, the rooms no longer have microwaves and the furniture is beginning to break down. Staff are great, and trying their best, but the fixtures and the building are really showing wear. I hope that Topeka is able to keep at least 1 decent and up to date hotel. I never want to be THAT person, but had to put in a maintenance request because I thought that the vanity faucet was going to come off in my hand and speaking of hands, I had to use one hand in the shower to keep the shower head in place. I hope that they are able to ratify the issues and come out on top because I like staying here, away from all of the traffic and chaos of the capital.

Worse stay of my 65 years and with 41 years of Federal Service, I've stayed in more than 300 hotels. When you first arrive, the front of the hotel looks like it was hit by a tornado that ripped the roof off. You then have to drive through a maze of massive pot holes surrounded by orange cones. Once you make it to the parking lot, it's full of 4-30 yard roll off dumpsters, and 5 or 6 Shiiping Containers. The room was nice and once inside, it was flooded with the echo of a jack hammer until 6pm. Ready for a good night sleep, my wife and I had to keep adjusting the heater. While set to 67, it kicked on every 20 minutes heating the room to what felt like 80. We finally found a setting at 63 that didn't toast us. Finally in bed, we were awaken at 10:24pm, 2:24am, and 5:25am to the sound of the horn from the passing freight train. This will be a hotel we avoid next year when we pass through Topeka again. If you're going to tear up the hotel and create a loud environment, close the hotel. Definitely not worth $172 for a night.

Very nice stay here. Staff very nice. They actually text to make sure you like your room! The room was spacious with a large, L-shaped couch, a wet bar area, desk, king bed (a little too soft, Goldilocks said). Very clean. Real glasses and mugs, coffee and tea. Thick, absorbent towels. Great full breakfast and good coffee! Cage-free eggs and all kinds of extras for oatmeal and pancake toppings. Tazo tea. We enjoyed a cocktail at the lobby bar after arriving - pricey but good. We would stay here again and would recommend this hotel highly!

The five-course meal, crafted by a remarkably talented chef using a variety of techniques from their farm, was beautifully executed in a surreal indoor-outdoor setting. Every dish was spectacular, and the beverage pairings were creative and perfectly curated. The owners' labor of love is evident from start to finish, making this a true gem in the Lawrence/Lecompton area. Our guests from Leawood, Kansas said they would gladly make the drive back anytime to experience another one of these magical culinary evenings.

We arrived on the farm (after our Ford GPS took us a wonky route along a few miles of dirt road--so make sure you stay on paved roads and you won't have trouble--I was told by Kristin, our host and one of the owners, that Google Maps has no problem). I have to share our experience in detail because I feel we discovered a new must-visit experience in the KC area! We arrived at the 30-acre farm, parked in the field, and were greeted by our server who welcomed us warmly and offered us an arrival cocktail to sip while we explored the truly lovely grounds, pond, and nearby goats. After our leisurely stroll, we returned to the dining pavilion and found our seats at the gorgeous (and massive!) live-edge dining table along with a menu specifically for this weekend. Our gracious host Kristen and server brought out our first drink pairing, a minted lime seltzer that was refreshing and light. Our first course arrived--Blue Jade cornbread with arugula, sweet pea salad, and chicken liver paté. The cornbread was unlike any I had before and was absolutely delicious. The sweet pea salad was literally bursting with flavor the peas were so fresh and the chicken liver paté out of this world. Such an interesting flavor profile and combination. The next beverage pairing arrived a short time later as we enjoyed the perfect evening, a blackberry purple basil shrub. This drink was also delicious and refreshing (and save that blackberry for last--what a treat!). The Mangalista pig, we were told, is the "wagyu of pork" and the crisp, tasty, marbled pork chop was excellent. It was served with a beet "kimchi" with fennel root and a sheep cheese dumpling that was creamy and flavorful. Finally, our coffees were served and a dessert of yellow squash cake, lemon honey ice cream with mulberry compote was brought to us. Again, the dish was original, delicious, and a perfect ending to our meal. We can't wait to come back and have try a new menu in the future. Such a perfect evening and the chef has such an exciting vision for hyper-local farm-to-table flavors and dishes.

I contact the bank and they know nothing of it. No flags on their end. Turns out that at check in, the desk attendant was not putting in the correct expiration date. So after a long while and calls with the bank I got my two rooms. Then another strange thing happened. There was a white male checking in ahead of me. He was greeted very nicely. Was told pool hours, drink hours and even breakfast hours. Guess what I was told? Nothing. Really makes me wonder why. Now let's talk about the rooms. I was going from Cali to Kansas for SIX days. Yes I rather overpack then be missing essentials while there. To my surprise this place has NO ELEVATORS. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT! NO ELEVATORS. If I had known this it would have been a deal breaker. Once in the rooms they aren't really clean. I moved the bed to put it against the wall and found candy and trash. The curtain had a stain that looked very unpleasant, if I had to guess I wouldn't doubt that it was stool. Each room did had a small fridge and an ironing board but no iron. The AC also had a bad smell released when in use. If you stay here and need your trash taken out or extra towels it's like pulling teeth. I'm guessing it's a covid related that the housekeepers do not go into occupied rooms. Hallways are dusty and dirty. The same trash was on the stairs the day I checked in and the day I checked out. I doubt that it had been vacuum in a very long time. Breakfast bar seems like a nice plus. Just keep in mind that it's the same thing every day. Eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, fruit and a whole lot of attitude from one of the woman working the bar. She gets really upset if a lot of people show up to breakfast. She does nothing but complain in Spanish about all the people wanting to eat. Do not be surprised if the tables for breakfast are dirty because no one cleans them. They are dirty and sticky. Make sure to bring your own wipes. Hope this helps when booking your stay. Pay the extra money and stay somewhere else. I know that I will. THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTH A SECOND STAY.

This place feels like you're in a cabin in Aspin. Though they are in the middle of remodeling, I actually like it the way it is. The lobby is nice and clean and the staff was so pleasant. Check in was super easy. Our room was clean; with microwave, coffee pot and fridge. We got a King bed and we really enjoyed our stay. The place itself was nice and quiet even though it's located off Wanamaker. We had breakfast the next day at 7am which came with the stay. Most hotels have a just a very basic continental breakfast that offers the bare minimum but they had great options; from biscuits and gravy to scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage. They had a variety of bread choices, coffee and juices. If you wanted cereal and/or oatmeal, they had that too. Overall, we plan to come here again for our relaxation necessities. Make sure to use your AAA option when booking. Compared to the other hotels nearby, the cost was best.
