Fresh deli counter

If you're looking for high priced and imported goodies that just aren't available in your local Tesco Express or Sainsbury's Local, then Partridges is the place for you! Attention Americans! Are you feeling a little homesick? Would some stuff from "The Colonies" cheer you up? How about a box of Lucky Charms? Or Hershey's Chocolate Syrup? Maybe a box of Stove Top Stuffing will make you feel like you're back home? Because they have it all here, just like back at the Piggly Wiggly. Only five times the price. Maybe it's medicine? But not just canned and boxed groceries, they have a deli counter that is loaded with all sorts of yumminess that makes for a heck of picnic. But why picnic when they have tables just outside shaded from the sun. Coq au Vin, Steamed Asparagus, even a big tub of Taramasalata. Delicious, but very very expensive. If money is no object, then here's your shop!

If money were no object whatsoever I would wish always to stock my kitchen with goods from Partridges. I'm not talking white goods here, I'm talking edible goods, great food and greater drink. I do enjoy wandering around this type of ultra high end delicatessen, they always stock pastas with all the writing in Italian and yogurts with all the writing in French. It's refreshing to see different brands and especially little family brands getting a seat on the shelf. This Patridges has a massive counter area with prepared chilled foods and also the usual selection of charcuterie and cheeses, organic and free range always being available. On my last visit here I popped in for a paper and a bottle of water and it was probably the best example of each I have ever had.

A place where you can find good imported stuff, at not so good prices. But the store is nice with really good products, in the middle of Duke of York Square, right opposite the Saatchi Gallery, so you are paying for the location too. The smell in the shop is lovely, as it is their coffee, hot chocolate and sweet goodies to go with it. Have a sit outside and enjoy a bit of peace in a lovely setting. If you go on Saturdays morning, there is a farmer's market in the square that you can take advantage too ;)

Partridges is the store I go to when I need something American! The store is very posh and I love just walking around and perusing what is on the shelves. The American section has all the things an American girl needs when she's feeling a little homesick. You can buy Apple Jacks, which is a box of apple flavoured cereal for those who have not tried it. They have Oreo cookies, fruity pebbles, bread crumbs and even Kraft Mac-n-cheese, what can I say, I love this store. As Thanksgiving rapidly approaches, I popped in Saturday morning to pick up a few things for Thursday. I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed. I walked away with Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix, Carnation condensed milk, and pumpkin mix, the only mild disappointed was that my four items cost almost £20 when in the States I would have plunked down about $5. But I'm sure my ex-pat friends will appreciate my efforts and be reminded of home when they eat my pumpkin pie, turkey, and stuffing.

Today I discovered that on Saturday's Partridges does an outdoor food market in Duke of York Square.

This location doesn't open until 11 on Sundays. Thats right folks ELEVEN! Gosh forbid someone wants…read moresome breakfast or something. Once I found that out I will no longer shop here. I'm not going to support a business too lazy to be open early. ALSO they close at 1700!! Yes folks SEVENTEEN HUNDRED (or FIVE for you civilians). Luckily there's another Sainsburys just up the road open normal hours.

I knew before we even landed in London we'd have 3 options without a block radius of our flat to…read moreshop for groceries. There is a Little Waitrose & Tesco Express- both would be considered more of convenient store markets. But, this Sainsbury's location is what you'd actually call a real grocery store. AND I LOVED IT!! This location is brightly lit with the 24 Bus stop right in front. A very good size. As you enter- there's a cash machine (ATM) to the left and the hot food department to the right. This is where you can buy the baked chickens and even create your own pizzas!! This section is also where you'll find the Grab & Go meals. Grab & Go is very popular here in London. You can pick from varieties of chips/ juices, waters, sodas/ and sandwiches or pasties (empanadas). As you continue walking into the store- the magazine section to the left. Self check out tills to the right and beyond that- regular cash registers. Either way, if you're paying with a U.S. card with a chip- you'll most likely need an employee to print out the the receipt for you to sign. Continue walking and you'll have the fresh produce section. Then past this- the freezer & refrigerated aisles. We stopped by these aisles tons of times! We took advantage of their microwaveable meals. I was a big fan of the Steak & Mash combo. The meat chunks were very tender, the stew was tasty and thick. The Mash was creamy & buttery. Another microwaveable meal I enjoyed was the spaghetti carbonara!! Did not disappoint!! We bought slices of cold cuts, Baby Bel cheese wheels, & chive crackers for snacky snacks. There's a huge selection of wines, beers, & hard liquors. Heck, we even bought Modelo! Everyday besides Sunday (closes 5pm) this Pimlico location closes at 11pm. Staff is really nice and I think there's underground parking....

Went to Waitrose in the Kings Road Chelsea London today…read more Saturday 7th October 2023 at 3.15pm After purchasing my shopping I went to collect my Free Coffee and there was a note on the Coffee machine that stated cleaning in progress. I asked a Waitrose partner who was reducing items near the machine to ask how long when it will be ready and the Waitrose partner informed me that the Coffee machine has not been working for a long while. I said to her that is not good service and then left the store without my Free Coffee (very disappointing service from Waitrose) WHY LIE TO CUSTOMERS BY PUTTING A FALSE MESSAGE ON THE COFFEE MACHINE?!

The slightest flaw in customer flow can (and does) screw up the everyone's movement and cause mass hysteria. I don't know what it is about the people who shop here, but they don't seem to know how to move in a supermarket type environment. It's like they arrive at the store and all rules of human motion, and even the laws of physics I'll argue, mysteriously cease. They walk briskly and abruptly stop. They ponder over an item, blocking your access to a display, for way too long. They inexplicably reverse course and swing a full cart around, perilously close to important body parts. They move sloooooowly. They linger. They chat on mobiles in the middle of cramped aisles. They stand with their kids in strollers in front of things you need. They don't move! It happens every time I'm there. Great store otherwise.
