There's also a a market that sells freshly grown fruits, vegetables and local made goods. There's also a garden and gift shop selling a lot of the local artisan products. Lots of parking available around the main entrance area. We went early in the morning around 10am. We spent most of the first few hours walking around the zoo that had a huge chicken range, duck pond, cow, goats, sheep and horses. There are vending machine to buy corns to feed the animals. We had to get our own quarters as the coin exchange machine was broken. Around the noon we head to the Linvilla Grill. They had some good pizza and chicken tenders. There were few outdoor benched to dine. Price was little steep. The freshly squeezed lemonade was outrageous. They make the whole thing by grinding lemon right in front and put it in a huge plastic 32 oz jar. It is so worth for $8. We also bought some peaches and cooking sauces from the market. Cash is preferred, for credit card they charge fee at the market checkout.

Produce market at the entrance. Bakery items, veggies, fruits. A food stand next to the market. We had pizza, it was not bad. Fresh squeezed lemonade was really popular. The staff were nice and helpful. Very friendly people. Easily to spend a morning or an afternoon there. Spacious so expect lots walking. Wear sneakers. Honestly a great place for family and visitors from out of town.

My dad and I visited the Philadelphia Zoo last week, and had a great time! We loved the meerkat…read moreexhibit, especially when we caught a zoo talk about the animals. The zoo really did a good job creating an interactive environment for these cute little animals. I enjoyed the wide variety of animals the zoo offered. The lion was particularly vocal when we passed by, and we got to hear several roars. Cool! A gorilla was taking advantage of the overhead animal walkways. He was snoozing in the tube right over our heads! The was my second visit, and I would probably go again.

I guess I have been spoiled by the Cape May Zoo that is an hour's drive or so from here. When you…read morecan visit a nearly perfect zoo that doesn't charge an admission fee it's hard to be thrilled with an older zoo that begins your experience with a $19 parking fee (So much for encouraging families to visit.). My first recommendation IF you live close enough to come back a second time during the year purchase an annual membership (You won't have to pay the parking fee.). However, incredibly the Philadelphia Zoo DOES NOT offer a senior citizen membership nor discount. And, like any other attraction the costs of concessions far exceeds what you'd pay outside the zoo. As for the zoo itself it's a beautiful walk on a temperate day, which was our zoo day. The infrastructure is old but it is really cool to have a tiger walking above visitors and also monkeys walk through the caged pathways. It seems that more areas were under construction than filled with animals. Kids were enjoying feeding the giraffes and there are several interactive play areas for young people. Each indoor exhibit was uncomfortably hot and crowded. Oh, and being a city zoo parking is difficult on nice days. The one official $19 lot was full and we lucked into a space in the other lot. Yes, we purchased memberships and as a single 70 year old I paid full freight but if I return for another visit it will be worth the cost ... my advice go to where you make a donation down in Cape May!

I'm so glad I finally got to visit this charming farm in Chester Springs! The property is…read moreabsolutely beautiful, with plenty of friendly farm animals to see -- perfect for kids or just a relaxing day out. There was a long line for ice cream, but it moved quickly, so the wait wasn't bad at all. You can't see the ice cream behind the counter, so you have to go by the menu board (and samples). I tried the cookies and cream, chocolate, and chocolate with peanut butter cups -- all were incredibly creamy and full of flavor. It's 10x better than anything store-bought! There's also plenty of seating both inside and out on the porch, which made it easy to sit back and enjoy the treat. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors!

They were out of the tiramisu by the time it was our turn in line - warning: lines are long on weekends, especially when it's nice out, so it'll take a while. I tried the rose flavor, peanut butter fudge, and harvest cheesecake. I wasn't actually a huge fan of the cheesecake but did really like the other two. The actual pumpkin patch is nice and we got to pick several pumpkins of our own. If you're not interested in picking them yourself, there are plenty already plucked off the vine and lining the path there, as well as on display, that you could buy instead. Small Pumpkins were $3, medium were $5, and there were two more sizes after that. The tiny ones are $1 each and on a display when you enter. There is apple cider and honey for sale as well. The corn maze is meant more for kids and was a quick walk through for us.
