Shoppers walk along decking and boardwalks to access the shops. Also, there are different buildings within the shopping center so that adds some interest too. My favorite shops here are The Cottage Shop, Sound Feet Shoes and The Cotton Gin. In addition to shops there are also a handful of restaurants and eateries. And behind the shopping center is a race track and miniature golf course. Timbuck II includes some other business too like a massage place and a real estate office.

A good friend of mine had posted that her favorite mug, which she had purchased at this store years ago, had broken. She was asking if any of her friends were going to be going on vacation and might keep an eye out for it. However, I decided to do a little Internet, sleuthing myself, and so I called and reached out to the store and was putting in contact with the manager. I ended up sending her a picture of the mug and she did not make any promises, but she did say she would see what she could do. She later informed me that they no longer carried it in their location, and that could have been the end of it. However, she went above and beyond, and she actually reached out to other store managers in the area to see if anybody else might have it. Still no luck. However, that's not the moral of the story. The point is that she didn't have to do all of this. She runs a very busy store and had plenty of other things she could have been doing. I am sure. However, she took the time to try and help me so I could try and help my friend. The fact that she reached out to other store managers and even posted in a group of other managers, sharing the photo and just went above and beyond speaks volumes. These days you don't get that kind of customer service very often. And, because so many people only go online to post negative reviews, it's really important that I make a point of sharing the good! If you are ever in Corolla North Carolina, please check out this store and make sure to ask for the manager and tell her that you heard she provided amazing customer service and had wonderful collectible items. A real hidden gem in a sea of overpriced souvenir shops!…read more I recently visited Outer Banks, NC and wanted to bring home a few shirts. I checked out a number of shops in Duck and was sorely disappointed. Most shirts were $20+ and/or had really lame designs. This shop allows you to pick a shirt of any color, choose your design, and have it imprinted...all for $11! The process only takes a few minutes. The owner was also super friendly and helpful in choosing the right combinations. I can't recommend this place enough!

They have the most comfy, soft, snuggly sweatshirts for $20 ( and please don't ever change the sweatshirts or the price, that keeps us coming back), as well as stickers, magnets, ornaments, and any souvenirs you could possibly want. And the price point is spot on, you don't feel like you're getting right over the Kohl's and price gouged by some touristy tat shop. And just to add, my first $20 sweatshirt has been washed dozens upon dozens of times and is still soft snugly and intact as the day I bought it. Customer service is usually foreign exchange students who are doing their best, so please be kind.

I emailed them, expressing my interest in a few items. While I didn't expect a response until they were open, Fran invited me to stop by anyway (we had already departed the OBX). She was kind enough to process our order and ship it safely and securely to us. Again, all before they opened for the season! We were so very pleased with our purchases and the kind service. This continued today when Fran realized that they had charged us twice for our order, something I hadn't realized. She had issued a refund as soon as she learned about this and emailed me the receipt. Again, what an exceptional level of Customer service. We look forward to visiting Duck again and visiting with the good folks at Duck General Store in person!

Eric and Robert are so fun and friendly, very no-BS guys who tell it to you straight. They made the class super fun and we were always laughing. Given the time of year, there were only 3 of us in class so it was nearly 1-on-1 instruction. I learned so much! I came back the next day to pick up my mirror and was stunned at how beautiful it came out! Y'all got me into a new hobby! Thank you for such an awesome class!

I stumbled upon Absolutely Outer Banks a handful of years ago and I was impressed with the selection of locally made arts and crafts. Ever since, this is my go to spot for legitimate and tasteful Outer Banks souvenirs. In addition to locally made items they also have some vintage items and even some new items for sale. One item that this store specializes in is really cool resin windows that are unique and exude happiness. Absolutely Outer Banks has artwork in all mediums and in all price points. They have jewelry, wood signs, candles, prints, glass work, textiles, metal work, etc.  On my most recent visit I enjoyed looking at a vintage pin ball machine and eyeing up the beautiful array of Fiestaware. There is plenty of opportunity for ooohhhing and ahhhing.  The owner is super friendly so that adds to the overall great experience. Absolutely Outer Banks is centrally located in Kitty Hawk in the former spot of a bank.

Super Scam Wings. My Girlfriend and I purchased a new beach…read moreumbrella from Super Wings on September 22, 2014. After only 1 hour of use in a light breeze, the pole bent near the base and the top of the umbrella separated from the pole. Upon examination, it appeared the pole was fabricated from a woefully inadequate, thin gauge of tubing (it can be deformed simply by pinching it with ones fingers). The joint between where top and the pole separated was only glued together with an obviously, inferior adhesive. We attempted to return the umbrella on 9/24/14 but were curtly rebuffed by the rude store manager, him saying "the store policy only allows returns within 24 Hrs." Indeed, the policy is written on the bottom of the receipt, however it is not displayed anywhere in the store, nor was it announced verbally at the time of purchase, hence no one would know the policy until after the purchase. I question the legality of such a policy, especially when the product was defective. In my home state, New York, retail vendors must exchange or refund defective merchandise within 14 days of purchase and their refund/exchange policy must be displayed clearly at the point of purchase, I would think North Carolina offers similar protection to the consumer. I filed a complaint with the NC department of consumer affairs.
