I am very happy I got in to see her. my knees feel better. she did not recommend surgery at this time. apparently you cannot book in the future when you are doing pretty well today . thank you Dr. Mathis for giving me so much of your time today I felt good about seeing you . I've had my severe injuries treated for decades, and have never been told this. I came for pain relief treatment. I'd also booked an hour long assessment for knees on which I'm waiting for replacements. Joy spent 20 rushed minutes, moving so fast she added to my pain. ReBalance then billed me for the full hour. When I called this overbilling to their attention, they made up the most ridiculous excuse, saying this is to my financial benefit. They're refusing to account for their overbilling, which tells me it isn't an oversight. Their email response is below. Tell me how this is legal?: "Our physiotherapy appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes; however, they may be billed as a 60-minute treatment for insurance purposes. This is done to help patients receive the greatest benefit from their available coverage, as shorter appointment billing can sometimes be reimbursed at a lower percentage and result in a higher out-of-pocket cost for the patient. We completely understand how this could have been confusing if it was not clearly explained beforehand, and we apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused. Thank you for your understanding, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or if there is anything else we can assist you with." Kind regards, Hayley J Physiotherapy & Kinesiology RebalanceMD Victoria

At first I was concerned that she was trying to milk me for my money (....I'm a jerk, I know) but when I expressed my concern about only being covered for a certain number of sessions, she was more than willing to give me extra exercises so I could come in on my own less frequently. My only complaint is how expensive it is but I don't exactly have anywhere to compare it to so maybe all physio is $75...

Dr Winston proceeded to inject my trigeminal nerve with a freezing agent without discussing it with me other than a cursory few comments. He had the syringe ready before he even saw me based on his student's interpretation of my history. This was not informed consent, which I didn't have. In 1980, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled, in the landmark case of Reibl v. Hughes, that patients should be told what the doctor intends to do, as well as what the significant material risks are, and anything else that a reasonable person in that patient's condition would want to be told. I suffered extreme pain and permanent damage to my nerve and temporal mandibular joint. Beware of Dr Winston and Shelbourne Physiotherapy for their association with a doctor who doesn't believe in informed consent. This was the worst medical trauma I've ever experienced.

Dr. Lam looked beyond just where I was feeling pain and evaluated my posture, structure, movement and Xray . He used cutting edge assessment tools and show exactly where the cause of my issue is. He explained what he found and why he recommended a specific treatment plan. After a few months of rehab, I start to feel I have better control to my problem, able to move easier, less frequent pain symptoms and it lasts. I was also given corrective exercises and traction to perform at home to stay on top with my spinal health routine.

So I said "I'll try to come because I do not want to be charged for nothing". I show up and waited for 12 minutes and notified by front desk that they recieved my voicemail last night cancelling my appointment. This only means voicemails are pointless while in fact they've called me 2 mins later last night. Voicemail should have been deleted. So in short they've cancelled me, so shall we apply cancellation fee as well as a client? I get it when a short notice cancellation fee will be applied. But their communication shows how they recieved voicemails should have been reviewed and deleted so others will not be getting informations that was already dealth with. Getting ready and showing up early expecting to have your appointment ready as well. There's no excuse of that effort showing up to your appointment but a disappointment! I suggest a clearer transfer of communication be more observable than being more concern on short notice cancellation policy.

However one thing you should know if planning to come here, is that they regularly increase their rates - going from $110 to $118 to $125 per hour for massage services in less than the 18 months I've been coming here. Now keep in mind, I understand inflation, increased costs, etc... So its not the price increases I have as much issue with (although the frequency seems extreme especially given the fact my insurance coverage hasn't increased in that time)... My main issue is the fact that they increase their prices with ZERO communication being sent out. So one month the price is one thing and then you come in for another scheduled appointment and suddenly they start charging you a higher rate without a word of mention. It wasn't until after I tapped my card for payment that I noticed the increase. In what world is it not standard practice to inform customers - especially if they have services booked - that the prices are increasing? A simple email would solve this problem but instead they just assume all is well and leave it to the admins at the front desk who have to deal with explaining it after the fact? Lucky for this place I like my current massage therapist - because their ethical business administration practices are seriously lacking.

She listens to you, then listens to your body as she works it. For example, my wife and I had both very different needs and we both got very different but still amazing massages. +Experienced - If I recall correctly, she used to do massage for the entire UVic row team, and then eventually a wrestling team. Also, as is evident from the other reviews, she provides a relaxing and therapeutic atmosphere. +Strong - Don't be fooled with conventional sexist wisdom that only men can provide the strength needed to work you over. Sheril is armed with hands that could probably kill, but you softies out there, don't be discouraged. As she says, "I like to work just before the 'u' in 'ouch'". She can give you the strength you need (and/or want for you pain loving fanatics). +The "je ne sais quoi", the "Undefineable" - I have noticed that lots of reviewers have commented on their experience with Sheril as magical, the best, fantastic, etc. Lots of these experiences boil down to Sheril's most valuable skill as a masseuse: she knows people and uses this knowledge to the massage completely theirs. When I mention to people that I get massages, they usually say that they should get one too, they just haven't gotten around to it yet.
