I have refrained from reviewing any establishment during the Covid pandemic, because people are trying to make ends meet and it's a crazy time. Well folks, there's an exception to every rule. In the past, I have come here for hang over breakfast sandwiches as an absolute last resort because the food is sub par. Breakfast sandwiches are the bane to the cooks existence , clearly. Eggs are always scrambled so make sure you clarify that you want them fried or cooked otherwise. If you ask for salt/pepper/ketchup BEWARE. I'm not sure if the cook is spiteful or just heavy with the ketchup, but he will soak your roll in ketchup to an inedible factor. It was functional, had "the Beast" roast beef and bacon with Russian dressing on a hero, it was a great idea. To be far it could have been 4* but as it was Sunday so the bread wasn't that fresh which stripped a lot from the sandwich. If I'm starving I'll be happy to go back, maybe not on a Sunday. read more

I'd heard this place made good sandwiches, so when I was in the neighborhood and hungry, I decided to give it a try. It is a smallish place that really doesn't look like much from the outside, nor inside once you walk in. However, the service is very good, quick and friendly. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich and also got a bottle of Gatorade. The sandwich was quite good. I received a large cutlet topped with melted cheese. It was hot, tender and juicy. I absolutely love this bodega, and the guys that work here are always so friendly! I'm predictable and my favorite thing is eggs and cheese on a bagel, and when I walk in, they know! Their ice coffee is also always delicious, and I honestly prefer it over starbucks, too. They have a great deli selection, beverage choice (also have a decent array of beers), candy, lotto, and toiletries. Plus you can bring your family, friend, date or just yourself and grab a tasty sammich or snack and sit in Astoria Park. What's not to love? read more

Parkside Market is a small deli near Astoria Park. Initially, I was excited to see a deli somewhat close to my apartment with organic goods, however that excitement was quickly silenced when I learned this deli does not accept cards...at any cost. I understand card minimums, but for a deli that sells mostly organic groceries at higher prices I would expect cards to be accepted at some point. Overall, not impressed. While the location might be great for picnics in the park during the summer, I would rather walk up to Othellos, where the sandwiches are epic, service is friendly, and they accept cards for amounts over 10 dollars. read more

It should be obvious to anyone walking into this place exactly what this place is - A corner deli, NY style. They sell the typical corner deli staples - beer, soda, milk, cheese, chips, etc. Prices are about what you expect from a corner deli. The food counter is fairly decent, with some of their items (corned beef and cabbage on St Pattys day for example) actually being really good, and some of their items just mediocre. The only complaint that I have about this place is that they will often mess up the sandwich order. I have found ham, cheese and all sorts of other things that I did not order on my egg sandwich. But again, I dont expect much from a place like this so I never really get too worked up over it. read more

Othello over on 23rd Avenue and 27th Street is far and away a better choice. But Parkside Market is only a couple blocks from my new apartment and overall, they're ok. This place is super close to my apartment, and because of that, some might call me a regular here. They make decent sandwiches, but more so, this place is great for other little odds and ends you may have forgotten on your last trip to the grocery store. Their coffee, iced and regular, are good...and because it's right across the street from the park, its a great place to stop for a drink on your way to or from. They also stock some pretty random, organic goods. I just picked up some chicken soup form here and I must say it was absolutely delicious house made soup. I'm sick with a cold and I just popped in to this neighborhood deli to see if they happen to have soup and to my surprise they had some. Well worth the $3. My husband and I are in the restaurant business so I can say with confidence, go and check out this place, they have other hot food as well which may also be just as delicious. I like this deli. They have good sandwiches that use boars head meats and its not too pricey. Parkside also has a good breakfast omlette(for a deli) and since it's next to the park it's really easy to grab something to eat and then hang in the park for an hour. read more

The atm always works, unlike mike's deli around the corner, they have great sandwiches, unlike mike's, make things quick and they have great sharing snacks and basics like cat litter, cat food and dog food. I buy from this deli every morning before I go to school and I must say the service is terrible. All the things in there are expired, the people making your orders are slow, it's expensive, and basically overall it's a terrible deli. I bought a cream cheese bagel once and when I was eating it I found a tiny hair, isn't that just disgusting? I threw the bagel out and now all I buy is a bagel with butter every morning, it is less disgusting. I wouldn't recommend that deli AT ALL! The candy is expired and everything there is so gross. I abhor this deli I'm telling you! Listen to my advice, go to the deli in front of ps. 122 it's better and cleaner! read more

I like these guys, they recently purchased the deli from the old owners and kept most of it the same, but there a little more friendly. They keep long hours and mostly have whatever odds and ends I need. They do take cards, which is maybe a policy they changed when they took over. Deli food all is fresh, the one star I take off is because most of their beer is a quarter more than up the street. read more
