He showed a particular interest in one of my married female employees. He would literally text her 70 plus times per day into the early morning hours. I believe that he was named as a paramour in her divorce. My understanding is that Mr. Joe Hester had a pattern of pursuing married women who worked for his clients. I don't believe that he keep my accounting information confidential. Additionally, I believe that Joe Hester misappropriated funds at my office. My advice is for all to avoid accountant Joe Hester.

Despite the IRS providing official disaster relief for businesses in my area--Sheffield, Alabama--due to Hurricane Helene, the preparer claimed I owed late penalties and insisted there was no way around it. I did my own follow-up and contacted the IRS directly. They confirmed my return was considered timely filed due to the disaster relief window (September 22, 2024 - May 1, 2025), and all penalties and interest were removed. This tax firm either didn't know the current IRS policy or didn't bother to check. I find that unprofessional, especially when dealing with sensitive financial matters that affect small business owners. I'm sharing this so others can make an informed decision. Always double-check what your preparer tells you--especially when it involves penalties.
