Drove up to the Palmetto Bluff Greeter's Cottage... by this time I am FOR SURE thinking I got the directions wrong, yet NO this is indeed located on Exclusively private residential grounds. The greeters were especially nice asked what I was about and I explained that I was looking for the market... at that one lady perked up and excitedly told me about the BEST Chocolate Croissants (that melt in your mouth) at the market. We followed the map they handed me and wound our way through manicured grounds and looming lush Palmetto trees. The market has a gas station as well and is a small high-end kinda 'general store' for the residents. The market, the Montage Palmetto Bluff and maybe 2 other restaurants located on the grounds are open to the public however... imagine if you will a sort of "Pleasantville' or 'Truman Show' neighborhood that is what you have here. Be sure to read your pass that they have given to you... you aren't allowed on any of the roads except for the main roadway. Seriously if you think to go being a 'looky-loo' it feels as if the ENTIRE compound eyes are drawn to you LOL We didn't do this but we did mosey over to check out Montage Palmetto Bluff Resort then high-tailed it out of there. Plus this is walking or biking distance to some of the beach resorts nearby. They have a good variety of wines, seltzers, beers and infused adult beverages. Snacks are plentiful, there's an ice cream bar and at some times of day, hot food is available. It's all a pretty chill atmosphere. If you forgot sunscreen, swimsuits, bug spray, band aids they have all that too. Plus kids beach toys and souvenirs. Plenty of HH logo tee shirts and water shirts to choose from. Free parking lot and staff is nice. Lots of character.

The pumps are easy to access and the lot is pretty spacious, so getting in and out isn't a hassle even when it's busy. Everything felt well maintained and clean, which isn't always the case at gas stations. Prices have been pretty reasonable compared to other stations nearby, and I've never had to wait for a pump. Overall it's a quick, reliable place to stop when you're driving through the Derenne and Abercorn area and need gas.

When I requested about if I could've used another payment method and receiving a refund, the attendant and another attendant sweeping informed me that all of the managers were gone for the day and that only a manager could process the request. I find it highly unprofessional that there was no manager available during store operating hours. It was a $15 purchase that I intended to use for gas however I was unable to get what I needed because of how the store operated. They had some good items, but overall the lack of assistance left me quite upset and lacking.

I am a loyal and dedicated Harris teeter shopper, I go out of my way to go to Harris teeter over all other stores and have been a rewards member for years. Unfortunately I had a negative experience today at the Lady's Island location. Surprisingly the store was not as busy as it normally is so I decided to order some lunch. I went to the sandwich station and the woman behind the counter asked me what I wanted. I told her I'd like a spinach wrap please. She fumbled behind the counter for a little and then told me irritatedly she would have to go retrieve some. I politely responded by saying no problem how about use whatever kind of wrap you have behind the counter. She then asked what kind of sandwich would it be. I had long since made up my mind prior to ordering because right there in front of me occupying the stands that lined the front of the deli stand were thousands, quite literally thousands, of all kinds of delicious breaded chicken tenders. When I then glanced up at the deli sandwich menu and saw breaded chicken as an option I told the woman I would like some of that. She took looked at me very confused and said "we ain't got dat". I looked down at the thousands of breaded chicken tenders that lay before me and said what about all these? She replied, "yea, we ain't got dat". I then became confused because I was standing in a massive grocery store in front of a colossal section of breaded chicken and staring at a deli sandwich menu that had "breaded chicken tenders" as an option. Not sure if this woman was having a bad day or just didn't want to do her job, so I simply said it was no worries and I will be on my way. It didn't end there. I turned around to the pizza station. Again, I was the only person in line and no one else was around. I asked the woman behind this counter if I could have a slice of cheese, she looked me in the eyes, didn't respond, walked out from behind the station and walked away muttering "I'll be right back." At this point i was a bit confused as a loyal Harris teeter patron. The service at the place I love so much could not be this poor. So I stuck it out and waited roughly 10 minutes (feels like an hour at this point) for when the woman finally returned. She looked up at me like she had never seen me before and didn't say anything. Confused I said...may I have that slice of cheese pizza please? She grabbed a slice and handed it to me. I said thank you but no words were exchanged from her end during the entire encounter. I took my pizza went to checkout. As I did so I looked over at the sushi section of the deli and it finally gave me a sliver of hope for the franchise I love. The guys were back there meticulously prepping their delicate rolls, smiling, greeting customers, delivering food to patrons, true masters of their art. Unfortunately the two employees at the deli and pizza station leave me no choice but to recount this experience with those I know, and warn them when visiting our favorite Harris teeter. Just goes to show customer service and simple manners go a long way.

I don't normally review liquor stores, but my experience at this location earlier this month was so…read morehorrific I felt a warning was required, especially for female customers. While on a girls trip, we visited this shop to get some beverage supplies. Before we could even walk through the door, we were greeted by the male employee who announced it was "Naked Lady Thursday." We tried to laugh off his lewd joke in hopes of making a quick entrance and exit since liquor stores are few on the island. However, this man proceeded to follow us through the store and repeat his original proclamation over and over and even adding that we needed comply if we wanted to be served. When we attempted to make it known we weren't interested, he even went so far as to comment one of us was "feisty" and he might have to "take her in the back." I'd advise women to steer clear of this place!
