HD Horne Sprayfoam & Insulation - new house insulation

    HD Horne Sprayfoam & Insulation

This company ended up being invaluable to me on different levels. Of course, they insulated our…read morehome in the attic, skylights, and the crawlspace with blow-in insulation and spray foam insulation. This gave us a great seal around our house. Keira was great at communication all the way through the process. When the guys worked on site they were efficient and did a great job. What was also of great importance to me was Keira's knowledge of the industry. When I was having trouble getting my pre-evaluation report in a timely manner, she contacted the company on my behalf to get it expedited. I also had contacted several companies (close to 10 companies) about heat pump installations and found that after the quotes, communication fell off. I had even left 3 messages with one company saying that we accepted their quote and wanted to set an install date. They gave no answer. Finally I asked Kiera if she would recommend a company that communicated and followed through with information and an install. The company that Kiera recommended came through on all counts and we are finally finished with evaluations and grants. I gave Keira the nickname of "Quarterback" as she really earned it. I could not be happier with the way that I was treated by this company. I highly recommend them.

The owner's reply is deeply concerning…read more Almost no part of the text below is true and I have records of all of our correspondence that prove this. Here are the parts that require clarification: "With respect, the main issue is with regard to the energy report you received from a third party vendor." Absolutely false. As noted above, the main issue is and continues to be that the quote and invoice HD Horne provided do not match the actual work completed...an error that the energy report proved. All other parties agree without question that HD Horne either used the wrong terminology or genuinely does not know what a basement slab is. "We provided you with an industry leading quote that included much better materials than the 2 other quotes you received from our competitors. We also provided the best price for our services which you ENTHUSIASTICALLY indicated you appreciated." Absolutely false. HD Horne's is the only quote we got for this project because it was a last-minute addition to our funding application. There was absolutely no enthusiasm or editorializing about price/appreciation/etc. in our email correspondence before the date of installation--all emails are very succinct but cordial. "You also indicated that several of your neighbours had great experiences with our company." Absolutely false. There are no such neighbours. One friend said they had a good experience with HD Horne and we got a quote based on the other positive Google reviews you can read here. After learning about our experience this year, that friend has profusely apologized. "Your directions were clear in March of this year." This is true. We clearly asked HD Horne to proceed with the work as quoted, which included "Supply and install R22 closed cell spray applied rigid polyurethane foam to basement slab." I have now attached the documentation to this post for the benefit of other potential customers. You'll see a screengrab of our invoice and a screen grab of the post-retrofit report. The blue circle on the latter is the basement slab quoted that was not insulated to R22. The yellow highlight is where the insulation was placed instead. "You approved the completed work and were thrilled with the results." Absolutely false. The details are surplus to the point of this review, but we had significant concerns on the day of the installation which I rang Kiera about as they were unfolding on March 29. At no point did we say we were thrilled with the results. In fact, I expressed doubts that the work was completed as quoted on April 3 and hoped to have the post-retrofit report back within 30 days of the install so I could review it before paying the invoice. Timing unfortunately didn't work out so I paid in good faith on April 24. "You then surprisingly changed your requirements after the job was completed over 6 months later." Absolutely false. The install happened on March 29. I reached out to Kiera immediately on June 26 within an hour of the federal loan provider letting me know our funding was cancelled due to HD Horne's mistake. At this point I asked for a partial refund. I have not been in touch with HD Horne since receiving a threatening email on June 29. The requirements of the job have not changed since I asked HD Horne to proceed with the quote they provided on March 1. The whole bit accusing me of extortion speaks for itself. I consistently asked for a partial refund over the course of a short email exchange and then the Home Performance Council Network advocated for a similar resolution once this matter went to them in August. I politely let HD Horne know I would be pursuing further action with the provincial rebate program and other available complaint channels on June 29 after they refused to resolve the situation directly. Requesting a partial refund for a line item in a quote that was not completed is a completely reasonable request, not extortion. "You never gave us the opportunity to rectify the matter in a fair and equitable manner." Absolutely false. HD Horne had many opportunities to rectify this situation since they became aware of it nearly six months ago and have consistently blamed the energy advisor, patronized me and refused to acknowledge that their paperwork and the post-retrofit report don't match. At no point has there been a proposed solution for us to consider. As I said above, this is likely a one-off situation. It's such an unusual and specific set of circumstances related to the federal funding program. However, if you are also a participant in that funding program, it's vital that your projects are completed exactly as they're quoted. HD Horne did not complete the work as they quoted it and, as you can read below, continue to deny this error regardless of what all third parties have confirmed. The owner's outright lies in this response, however, are certainly worth your consideration about their professional integrity
