This truly feels like a little school with hustle & bustle and fun friendly activity when dropping off and picking up our daughter. This is definitely a school setting and not a day care so it really encourages learning & engagement. Our daughter was timid on her first day (naturally) however, her second day and beyond, she's been excited to go to school. She runs up to the teachers and is happy to show them her shirt or gives them hugs. This was a rare occasion at her previous school so it's telling just how comfortable she really is at Primrose. Her teachers Ms. Kelly, Ms. Venita & Ms. Maren have been amazing with our daughter. They always have a smile, friendly and have gentle personalities which foster a warm environment. Delise, the director (principal) has been great to work with, very communicative & very organized which is appreciated! We're super happy at this school! In the interest of transparency, current and prospective parents should know that those steps included having their attorney at Goodspeed and Merrill send my family a cease‑and‑desist letter threatening a defamation lawsuit in conjunction with a fabricated CPS report if I did not immediately remove my review. The CPS allegations they threatened to file were created by flipping our concerns about the school back onto us; even if those allegations had been true, they still would not constitute child abuse. I'll be attaching the threatening document they sent so families can understand exactly what is going on. My review is based entirely on my firsthand experience. Any parent who wants to understand the situation more fully is welcome to reach out. Original Post: I'm writing this as a parent who keeps receipts- emails, timelines, photos, everything. And based on that documentation, I want other families to know what we experienced here. Our son came home with a bad bruise on his back, yet we heard nothing from the school. When brought to their attention, the school said they documented, but they repeatedly refused to give us the incident report. This wasn't an isolated issue. When our son caught a virus the school had emailed about a week earlier, the owner later denied the presence of the virus -- despite us having the original message. We also discovered missed diaper changes in our son's log that led to a severe diaper rash. From my perspective, this daycare is more focused on protecting its image than being honest with parents or providing consistent care. Please do your homework before enrolling -- ask for policies in writing and trust your instincts.

Her teachers were so great and their love for the kids really showed. They sent pictures daily so I was able to see all the fun activities they did during the day. I also loved the outdoor space this preschool has which is unique to any other I have seen. The class was able to go on nature walks and do many activities outside, including lots of picnics which I just love. I also loved the parent involvement aspect too. As a parent I always felt welcome in the classroom and loved volunteering and seeing the magic firsthand. I HIGHLY recommend this preschool!

She truly gets young children, in a way I have not seen before in a day care center. I have seen Kathy and her staff respond to toy stealing, tantrums, hitting, and other normal behaviors of young children with immense patience and gentleness. Kathy and her staff truly seek to understand and come alongside children, not boss them around or control them. The kids spend a large portion of the day outside, in this beautiful fenced-in property in a safe and vibrant neighborhood. It is tranquil and calm both inside and outside Sunflower Hill. My son enjoys daily circle time, songs and books, and crafts (they even bake bread and plant flowers with the kids). "Squirrel Nutkin" comes alive from the book they read, and munches on sunflower seeds outside the center. We have attended a few of Sunflower Hill's festivals, which are a great opportunity to meet parents and watch your kids thrive together. The lantern festival was a time to pause and reflect on the darkening of the seasons, and how the light is inside each of us. The kids each made a lantern and we walked around outside singing songs. It truly is as magical as it sounds. Kathy and her staff have a holistic approach to childcare, which isn't what all families are looking for. The "curriculum" is not structured or rigid, like many schools are. Each family should choose what works best for their child, and Waldorf isn't a good fit for everyone. Kathy provides flexibility in choosing days of the week, and the opportunity to re-arrange your days if needed. We looked at several child care centers in Denver, and Sunflower Hill has very reasonable pricing. They are open long hours, and it is a very convenient pick for working parents. Also, the center is housed on a sleepy neighborhood street without traffic, so you don't have to fight to find a parking spot. Pickup and dropoff are always easy. When we started at Sunflower Hill, Kathy would send us photos of our son and encouraging notes about how he was acclimating to the group. Kathy always texts me if our son is hurt (a self-inflicted scratch while playing with sticks, and a toy sharing incident that turned into hitting), and sends us photos of him with an update. I am so impressed by this attention to my child's safety, and trust Kathy immensely. Kathy has asked for feedback from parents in several of her weekly emails, and shows genuine humility and a desire to continue changing and adapting as needed. Though I don't pretend to know half as much about raising young children as Kathy, I wouldn't hesitate to speak to her if I had any concerns. The staff are fantastic, our son especially loves Warren who sings cowboy songs to him and is so attentive to his language development. We are overjoyed that our son is blossoming here. He comes home from school each day chatting about his friends, and has started pretend play at just over 2 years old, which speaks to how healthy and supportive this center is for his imagination.

We were originally told by the director--in writing--that we only owed for two weeks of care since our children did not attend the full month. However, the director later revoked this agreement and demanded payment for the entire month. The situation escalated when they sued us in small claims court for $4,200 (two months of pay). This included a month we had already paid for, but they claimed they "lost" the check--despite the fact that they had previously given us a receipt for it. She then held up the "lost" check during our mediation. We ultimately settled in mediation for $1326 plus the amount of the check that wasn't cashed, because we have ALWAYS been willing to pay for the care received and the two-week period we agreed upon. It is incredibly stressful to be sued before a business even attempts to resolve a clerical error on their end. Save yourself the headache and find a center that keeps better track of their files and values their relationship with parents.

They serve a variety of meals/snacks throughout the day, sing songs, read books, teach movements like clapping, waving, nodding, etc. and even have an infant-only play area outside so your child still gets fresh air throughout the week. Having our son here has made me not question working full-time, because I know he is having a blast and getting to learn more than he could at home by also being able to develop socially with all his friends. I am sooooo thankful I found this treasure of a daycare. It's also a super convenient location being within a 2-minute walk from our pediatrician (and others if you choose). I will be sad to leave it, but know it will just open space for more families that need quality care for their child. BONUS: They also offer date nights once a month from 6-11pm where you only pay $20 for your child to be cared for and fed. Definitely a better deal than trying to find a babysitter!
