King's Smile Dental with Dr. Fikhman is the first place where I actually felt like... alright, I'm good here. The first thing you notice is the office is just easy to deal with. Whoever's at the front desk is on it -- not robotic, not annoying, just friendly and helpful. Making the appointment was simple, and when I had to change it (more than once, because my schedule is a mess), they didn't give me attitude or make it complicated. They worked with me and got me in, which I really appreciated. Now the important part: Dr. Fikhman. He has that calm, confident vibe that makes you relax a little, and he actually explains what's happening instead of just doing stuff and disappearing. He checks in, makes sure you're comfortable, answers questions, and you can tell he cares about the work being right, not just "done." Also the place feels modern without being all flashy about it. The equipment/tech seems up to date and the whole process felt organized, like they're not winging it. And after everything I had done, the results honestly came out great. If you've had meh dentist experiences and you want someone you can stick with long-term, I'd recommend Dr. Fikhman. This is the first time I've left a dental office and actually felt relieved instead of stressed.

He's a popular doctor so in the waiting room there were chairs occupied with patients in masks at 6 feet apart while the overflow was other masked patients waiting at a distance from each other outside in the hallway was the scene when I first visited on a busy Saturday morning. A receptionist first takes your temperature and later asks you the necessary Covid questions. The receptionists are super helpful, articulate young adults, very organized, very professional, welcoming and polite. What can I san about Dr Chun-Kit Chan? He's like an updated modern version of the personable family doctor I remember as a child in Ireland. He really listens, he's very empathetic. He takes his time to carefully walk through all concerns and questions. He is quite thorough, no-stone-left-unturned kind of focus on details. I feel lucky to have found him. The follow up visit to go over my lab test results was just as thorough. A great experience and a great doctor.

When I shared this with Chun Kit Chan while I was still in terrible pain, he told me it was "all in my head" and recommended that I only need Tylenol. The next day, I ended up in the ER needing emergency gallbladder removal. The ER doctor said this should have been addressed much earlier. After surgery, when I could barely walk, I needed a referral for a GI specialist. His staff member, Susan, insisted I come into the office even though my insurance confirmed it wasn't required. The doctor even said it was "not a big deal" to lose a gallbladder. Two months later, I was hospitalized again due to leftover gallstones. The hospital told me they contacted Chun Kit's office for a referral, but his staff claimed I hadn't been seen in over a year, which was completely untrue. In my experience, this doctor delayed my care, dismissed my symptoms, and contributed to unnecessary complications.

She is thorough and thoughtful in her assessments and recommendations. She always presents a number of options and fully supports what you end up choosing. She committed to helping you work through whatever issue you are facing. She is smart, asks the right questions but also tell it to you straight! I have never felt rushed by her. We feel so incredibly lucky to have her as our doctor. Every single time either of us see her, we swoon over her for days. Simply out, we LOVE her.

I went-in for a 30 check-up -- asked to get some basic blood work and a baseline cholesterol test since I had family risk factors and no previous test records. I was barely listened to for the whole appointment and then told there was no need for any tests. I pushed, hard, and finally got a cholesterol test. Turns out my triglycerides were in fact high. Thanks to the test results I was motivated to change my diet and shape-up a bit. After this experience, I really felt like I wasn't going to get what I needed out of seeing my Dr. so I just avoided going. Even after I found myself with a new problem that caused chronic pain, the thought of seeing Dr. Bowler seemed so unpleasant I avoided seeing a Dr. at all. Finally, I reached my discomfort threshold and called for an appointment. Dr. Bowler was unavailable so I saw someone else on the staff-- so much better! I felt like I was listened to and that my concerns were being addressed. I had almost given up on the whole medical group, just because of one bad apple. I was running a little late and called ahead of time to inform them. Fortunately I was still accommodated without any issues. Once I arrived and check in then waited in the beautiful & clean waiting for about 5 minutes. I was able to charge my device while I waited which I loved and appreciated. The exam rooms are clean and I had a good experience with the clinician named Julia. She was super sweet and professional. She asked all of the appropriate questions to get a better sense of my health history. Unfortunately the medical assistants there were unable to successfully draw my labs. They tried about 3 times but a nurse did not attempt to draw them unfortunately despite me agreeing to. I was given an outside script to go to a local Quest Diagnostics. Aside from this blood draw "issue", I had a phenomenal experience here. Not entirely sure I will need to return to this location anytime soon. Although this location is easily accessible via the R train, I prefer commuting to the Park location instead.

Her professionalism is evident, and her honesty and resilience are something every one of her patients should appreciate. Within this facility, I have met with many pediatric doctors and staff; however, after 18 consecutive years of visiting, I can not help but notice Dr. Paik's outstanding devotion to her vocation and her wholehearted commitment to every single one of her patients' well-being. He typically responds within the hour. Staff is super friendly. Whether your visit is in person or virtual, it's never rushed. Wow! Just, wow!…read more Maybe over my lifetime I've just had bad luck with doctors, but Dr Berk shines above the rest. Firstly, I went in and was actually listened to rather than having the Dr wait for me to stop talking. He never interrupted me and let me interrupt him, when I did so accidentally. I regularly feel Dr's don't listen to me. Sure, their training is in medicine and they are the experts, but I am certainly the expert at what I am experiencing. If I feel regularly shut down as a man, I can only imagine how women are made to feel with most doctors. So this first off was an excellent sign. Secondly, he was friendly, upbeat and polite. That's not necessary but a nice touch. On to the checkup. He was methodical. He told me exactly what he was doing. When I told him I thought my BP was a little high on his machine, rather than ignoring me he did a second check to ensure it was correct. He was knowledgeable about my ailments, my medications and I didn't get the feeling he was just trying to rush me out the door to increase his turnover cash. This guy is aces in my books and I changed my primary care physician to him today. I'm angry I didn't find a doctor like him sooner. I've only seen him once and his businessman paraphernalia is a little disconcerting. I like money too but it makes me uneasy. I had to sign a form saying I am responsible for the full final cost. Most doctors I've seen will charge a high amount for the insurance and "forgive" the rest. Gotta say that makes me uneasy as well. We'll see how it goes going forward in terms of how badly it hits my wallet and I will update.

Yelpers are the best! Dr. Berk's staff was super helpful and even chipper, but not annoyingly so. The new patient forms weren't unduly long and didn't require me to sign over my first born child. There are computers set up in the spacious lobby where you enter your symptoms, which is nice because it gets rid of the prelude conversations that you normally repeat to 2 nurses, a physician's assistant, and the doctor. I didn't mind the computer system at all. The waiting area, as I said, was spacious. The light was nice, and there was a glug-glug with really cold water, which made this sickly gal quite happy. There was one girl waiting and one couple who came in after me who were seen before I was, and they seemed to go in and out quickly. I was called back (after paying my co-pay), and I talked to Mary, a sweet doctor's assistant who I thought was very good. She did all of the temp taking, etc.... Within 5 pages of my book of her leaving, Dr. Berk appeared. Dr. Berk is the kind of doctor you imagine when you are little. The kind of doctor you envision you will have after the mean pediatrician who gives you shots flees the scene. He is kind, inquisitive, is aware you are sick and don't want to talk a bunch, and had great information about why I was sick, the neighborhood, and how I was going to get well. He did not rush me, and I felt like I could ask as many questions as needed. He rides his bike to work. Need I say more?! He's like Mr. Rogers but not creepy. With the paperwork, the computer quiz about my illness, a little bit of waiting, and my actual visit, it took 45 minutes, which I think is fantastic. The office is conveniently located to just about any subway line you could want, so I suggest you hustle over and see Dr. Charles Berk if you're feeling under the weather.
