The shop is a dream. It's all the best local spots you'd find at Pike Place or a farmers market, all laid out in a grocery store/shop style. It is gorgeous, easy to navigate, and fairly priced. I was so excited about all the fabulous local brands and how accessible they are to me now that I know this shop exists. Kombucha, sea salt, puzzles, treats, local produce, amazing cheeses, and more! I went on a pretty stormy day so did not explore the grounds, but love how community oriented this whole space is. I can't wait to go back and explore the farms. This spot is such an amazing pillar in our community.

At the end of the street I found a few food options. The most amazing Filipino food from 88 Cues, irresistible salsas and masala chai, and so much more to try. I ended up buying a bowl cozy at this market. The stand I bought it from has been at other markets and each time I wonder if I really need one. Honestly this is the most underrated and useful item in your household and if you are a camping person then you will love a little bowl holder. Mine has a Mexican skull theme and my husbands is super Mario bros. They're so cute and nicely crafted. I also bought some chicken earrings from Alpine Rio creations. They're beautiful and when I asked if they came in a darker wood color, the artist offered to make me a pair. How amazing is that! I loved the studs and will surely be buying more next time I see them, their work is so cute!

Haven't met a farmers market we didn't like!! Till now!!…read more I get that its covid. But man this place is snobby. And very much un-fun!! They have lines/tape around all over so you can't just enter. You do have to walk all the way to 5th and something for an entry. Which also include a huge line, a very unnecessary loud teenage band playing ( tone deaf loud) next to all the restaurants/their outdoor seats. You cant social distance even if you try. All I wanted was some fresh flowers for the cemetery and we ended up walking the whole market twice from outside trying to find an entrance. They do have a different entrance where they turn everyone away in the scorching hot heat! And last but not least: No dogs allowed? What? Isn't that the whole point of farmers market? Family/dog friendly? Baci got his socializatio in as a tiny pupper from Ballard market. It's like a puppy parade every time you go there. We ended up skipping because of this!! I did see 2 old ladies left their dog outside, next to the loud as hell band so they can walk the market for something. We watched the sad pup the whole time till they return! Really though. No flowers/spices are worth leaving your beloved old dog behind Overall, the least fun farmers market ever!! if it werent for random facemask, you wouldnt even know there was covid. Hot! I don't think I have seen more beautiful blooms anywhere else! I love that it was heavily focused on local small businesses, farmers, and FOOD. We stopped for a few bites along the way and were blown away every time. So good. This market is huge and stretches for a few blocks, so be sure to come early and give yourself ample time to explore. Also, with it being in Ballard, there are a ton of cool, hipster shops to browse while you're in the area.

Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.

I've visited here probably at least once a month during berry season to get berries that aren't sold in stores, such as black raspberries, olallieberries, etc. There are other unique offerings sold here such as stone fruit which are broken down into their cultivar names (rare to see in supermarkets) and you get to talk to the farmers who are bringing in the delicious food to the market. Excellent market. As far as getting there, the light rail U District station is two blocks away from the farmers market, and there are parking lots for people who drive here. Super easy!

I arrived late, so some stalls were starting to pack up. I counted about three produce stalls. They also have the typical stalls for honey, or cheese, or cookies/pastries, etc. They also have the non-food items such as pottery. I chose a couple of sweet treats of frosting cookies from "Darlene's Baked Goods"; Darlene was also very nice. I am also looking forward to seeing Port Gardner Crafts in the future. I like their thin wall potteries and hope to find a large size mug in the future. If I am already in the area, it is worth a visit. I would not purposely drive here for the market.
