Service was excellent but my car was returned covered in bird droppings. It cost me $25 to get it rewashed.

LaGuardia Airport Terminal B - Dining option

    LaGuardia Airport Terminal B

    LaGuardia Airport

I'll assume you have a baseline understanding of how airport terminals work already. If not, I…read moresuggest you watch the last 3 minutes of Jerry Maguire, that one Tom Hanks movie, and perhaps consult Wikipedia. For everyone else, LaGuardia's Terminal B is a lot like what you'd expect, but decidedly a step or two up. It's noticeably cleaner and more modern than most. It feels like a chic new mall, albeit disproportionately populated by people sprinting in shoes and clothes that are not intended for sprinting. Also, bananas here cost $6, which approaches Lucille Bluth levels of fruit inflation. Otherwise, it really is a nice terminal. The fountain display fascinated my one year old son for an entire 2-hour delay, and the WiFi--which is both free and functioning--allowed me to actually get some work done. The outlets even mostly work. *side eyes JFK* And the bathrooms are surprisingly (maybe jaw-droppingly by airport standards) tidy. As a parent, I must caution that an airport bathroom is still no place to drop your jaw on the floor. All in all, it might be the best terminal at every real New Yorker's preferred airport. Even if it still has only TSA pre-check and no CLEAR.

Be Relax spa: I used my priority pass and paid an up charge of $10 to use the more advanced massage chair for 30 min. OMG, it was soooo worth the upgrade. It was an amazing experience and oh so relaxing. It really dug into my sore muscles. So, arrive early for your flight to experience the best chair massage ever. I took a photo of the chair.

LINK will take you to different concourses for your gates. Pretty convenient. Come frequently. Many restaurants but not much shopping. Seats and waiting areas are clean. Bathroom is clean. Overall a great airport. Just unfortunately our lounge is not in the same concourse, it made a bit inconvenient.

Delta was one of the first airlines to renovate their terminal when the LGA renos started and since…read morethen its gone thru a second or even third round of expansion and updates to the point that the entire building looks brand new. Pulling up to the curb, the roadway is much wider, enough for 3-4 lanes of cars, and there are about 5 entry points spread out so not all traffic stops at the same place. Entry for Delta medallion is towards the end of the terminal, past the first several doors, and there's a baggage drop right outside the door for super easy drop off. I've used it once so far and it took all of one minute! Inside, there are rows of open check-in and baggage drop off counters to the right, and a dedicated area with counters for priority check-in as well. Frankly at 4:30am it didn't make much of a difference. Security is upstairs on the concourse level and there are lines for regular, TSA-pre-check, Clear, and Delta Digital ID. On a weekday morning for the first flights out the line was pretty short overall, about 5 minutes for pre-check or Delta digital ID, it's too bad the TSA officers manning the lines were a sorta rude, saying in full earshot of people in line that they were stupid for not knowing to present ID immediately to the officers. The other unfortunate thing that day was for some reason the scanning machine broke while my items were in queue so they had to move everyone to a different line and re-scan, which took an extra 20 minutes. Last few times I've flown thru there hasn't been this problem so hoping that it was on off-day. After that no issues and I was off to the Delta lounge! Despite the concerns above, the new terminal has more artwork installations, travel-friendly touches like lounging seats added and many more food options than before. Like most airports food is super marked up though I guess at least you have a better choices of what you want to pay for now.

Moving on to the deets (do people still say that), this terminal opened in 1939, it's construction championed by former NYC mayor Fiorello La Guardia, a former major and pilot in the United States Signal Corps aviation division during WWI. At that time it was the largest worldwide and costliest airport ($40million) and was dedicated as the Pan-American terminal for transatlantic flights in 1940. It's success as a hub during the "Golden Age of the Flying Boat" during the 1940s was partially due to it's position close to open water, from which it was thought would be safer for sea planes to land with passengers, even though initially most transatlantic flights early on in aviation history were made aboard land planes. With technology advancements during WWII, these "clipper" sea planes became obsolete. The terminal was designed by William Delano and Chester Aldrich in an Art Deco style, most clearly seen in the ornamental details in the exterior raised reliefs, and wall murals contrasted with black marble used in the main circular core. It's the last remaining terminal in the US still in use from that era of early aviation development. More info about this terminal can be found here: http://s-media.nyc.gov/agencies/lpc/lp/1109.pdf It's interesting to see how the terminal is used now, mostly for Spirit Airlines. Although the wings of the terminal have recently been renovated to match more of the modern aesthetic that La Guardia terminals B, C and D are following, the amount of traffic necessitates a very crowded waiting area, so much that the couple times I've flown out of there in the past year it's felt a) claustrophobic, b) a potential fire hazard. Also the cleanliness of the carpet and seats are rather questionable, which is ironic and unfortunate because this terminal in its heyday was the seat of luxury departures overseas. As for current amenities there is an Italian restaurant, a couple convenience store areas, and a Dunkin Donuts. Bathrooms and drinking water are available. Security lines are usually fairly quick considering the smaller size of the terminal. Rideshare and taxis have designated zones for pick up and drop off outside. Parking and rental cars are further away especially due to ongoing construction, though there are free shuttles that loop around periodically.
