Think the gent who assisted was Antoine (shorter, chestnut hair, and great skin, of course). Very warm and extremely knowledgeable. I regularly shop their stores in Century City, Culver, and Larchmont, yet he taught me things I never knew about their products. Thought I was just popping in for a serum, but he took the time to show me several options, and I bought more than expected :-) Knowing that I was visiting, he even offered me an Aesop guide to local restaurants. The clerk offered me tea as well as a pricing sheet before leading me to the sink in the middle of store to wash my hands and try the products. They even offer you a small hand towel to dry your hands afterwards! Everything has top notch packaging, it's super impressive. On one side of the room they have gift packages and each comes with a sleeve that has unique artwork and a poem. Sadly, everything is very expensive and I can't justify paying for any of it. I let my sales associate know this and she said it wasn't a problem. She gave me a catalog and some samples before I left just in case I ever wanted to treat myself. Excellent customer service! The two full beauty displays they have are Channel and Guerlain. That sets the scene. The place is cramped, seriously. If you go with your girlfriends (or guyfriends for that matter), you might wanna take turns because the width won't fit more than three of you.. That being said, their slection is phenomenal. If you're ever remotely interested in perfumes, you have to stop at Maison des Parfums at one point or another. Were you looking for some Hermes? An old Caron or Coty? Perhaps a discountinued perfume? Yeah, go ahead get all your fume science out and ask for those european brands not even Holt Renfrew carries.. The slight downside is the service. Rockland center, you guessed it. Do you look like you're gonna spend? Or do you look old enough to spend enough? I know I don't. The saleslady was reasonably nice and chit-chatted a bit but sure enough, a couple of better-manicured, older lasses showed up and out I went!

I needed new perfume, and we'd planned a trip to Montreal. Parfait! I searched on-line for places, and saw another Yelp! review for Maison des Parfums. I was in. The owner, a lovely French woman, graciously spoke English for me and my S.O., and spritzed several paper swatches with perfumes she thought would work for me. When we settled on a few, she sprayed my hands and arms, and we waited for them to dry. Then she sniffed my arms and hands as if she were smelling the bouquet of fine wine. We decided on two that were super. This petit shop is LOADED with perfumes, most of them brands you'd see in most department stores. But the owner and her family have owned this business for 25 years, and she's clearly got a gift for finding the right fragrances. The only downside is that this in a mall WAY out of the center of town. 'Not easy to access any way except by car. (We took the metro and walked about 1-1/2 miles from the station. Thankfully, we're in shape.) That said, this place is delightful, and if you want a real pro to help you spruce up your fragrances, GO! A little taste of Paris in Montreal 'burbs.

My recent experiences with the staff have been highly variable. Consultation 1 (Needs Improvement):…read moreThis consultation was a disaster. The staff member seemed to have very limited product and color knowledge, which resulted in a recommendation for both an incorrect color and product type. This led to a very poor initial result. Consultation 2 (Excellent): The second consultation was fantastic. This individual was highly knowledgeable, engaging in a detailed and helpful conversation about hues, and clearly outlining the benefits of different product types. I left this consultation feeling very confident in the recommended color choice, which was based on my preference for a dark shade. Consultation 3 (Lacks Assurance): The third staff member was extremely wishy-washy. I had very little confidence in her knowledge, as she constantly undermined her advice by ending nearly every phrase with, "but there is no guarantee." She also negated my prior research (e.g., on measuring vs. weighing ingredients) and offered unhelpful advice, such as telling me to "just try it out, if you don't like it, you can change the recipe." For a professional service, this lack of assurance and suggestion to "experiment" with a formula is concerning. Product Quality and Recommendation Process: While I understand the staff member in the second consultation did not manufacture the products, I want to note that two of the items she recommended were disappointing: Mitchel Cream Curl: This product appeared to be improperly mixed and contained waxy bits. Canadian Shampoo and Conditioner: This item became moldy. The last 'consultant' asked if i kept them in the shower. No - I kept them on the shelf next to the rice and flour in the pantry (eye roll). Furthermore, the third staff member's approach to shampoo/conditioner recommendations was unhelpful, essentially just walking me down the product aisle, which I could have done on my own. I would expect a more curated and informed recommendation based on my hair type and color treatment. I am trying the new color from my most recent visit and hope for a better result than the first time. I look forward to returning and hope to be paired with a consultant who embodies the competence and helpfulness of the second person I dealt with.

She guided me through the store to get me the best shampoo in their store . There was so many different products but she suggested to try the redken Purple shampoo for my needs.. she explained how and how long I need to use it on my hair for maximum effect.
