The catering field in the Ft. Worth area is packed with opportunities to provide you what, for the…read moremost part, you already know how to do. Mac-n-Cheese, Chicken-fried steak...generally fried anything. Welcome Camille Asake's wonderful new menu--inspired by the rich traditions of Continental Africa--to the competition. I will touch on the logistics and then move to the heart of her cuisine...Camille's has handled events for us ranging from 15 people to over 100, and the small details--timeliness, presentation and hospitality--are consistent and make for no surprises. Her prices are $$ on a scale of 1-5. The surprises come in the form of a wide array of Africa-inspired foods--built around Jollof (rice) to Omisagwe (Peanut Soup) to West African plantains to As Efo Tete (Yoruban "greens" which amusingly means "we have money still for fish")--and traditional foods grilled in the West African style. If you have never had cuisine from Central or West Africa, the content is not unlike what might happen if you crossed "southern" cuisine with Caribbean. For the adventurous, Camille's plates can be made spicy-to-order, which comes less like the Latin America "fire" created when you chomped down on a chili and in a more subtle manner (subtle but extended:) as the heat is established over time. Camille's culinary skills include Western or European talents as well, so it is possible to "mix" orders and provide a meal all will love. There are a couple of wonderful restaurants in the DFW area where you can also sample such menus, but if you want the food delivered to your doorstep in the Arlington/Ft. Worth area, I can't recommend someone more highly than Camille!

I came back on early Saturday evening after a nice cooling rain. It was pleasantly not crowded. I got a couple of empanadas from one truck and a couple of smash burgers from another. Both items were delicious. When I go back, I want to try something from the hibachi grill. I got an Oakcliff smashburger and my son enjoyed a Dallas. We loved our burgers. You could tell they were made fresh with chunks of avocado and bacon for me! The empanadas were good if a bit small. The dough pocket could have been premade, so I'll have to try something else from that food truck. That's the beauty and draw of a food truck park as pi your able to try have what you want and still eat together! I hope people come out and give this place a try. Donna, the owner, gave personalized service and provided menu options that fit our tight catering budget. Donna took really good care of us. She plated food for the bride, groom, moms and dads to ensure they got a plate when they were ready to sit down. When finished, they boxed a to-go order for Jesse and Madelyn, and also left the leftovers in the fridge.
