Parking is set up pretty well but can get full fast, if it's a sold out show. We got there a tad on the early side so that we can get a drink inside at their small beverage stand with beer, wine and some snacks, nothing special. Theater seating was perfect in terms of view of stage. Here is where it gets weird, in the middle of the show it started to get super hot, many people started to fan themselves with show programs, including me, I almost had to get out. I was able to make it through to the end but while leaving I noticed how narrow the exit was from theater to lobby, got a little claustrophobic and thought, if there was an emergency, it would be very hard to safely exit, in my opinion. All & All, next time I will dress light and sit near an exit. Loved this venue and plays they put on yearly.

They have a number of programs, like $25 tickets, Rush/Standby Tickets, Arts for All, Pay What You Will days. All very affordable! And for the quality of the shows here, it's absolutely worth it to go see at least one show a season. The stage crew and actors put on great shows! Every staff member I've encountered there have been friendly, patient and accommodating. I've done the Standby tickets for a few shows now and it's a great experience. Put your name on the wait-list about 90 minutes before showtime, go grab a bite to eat, and if you get a seat, that's great! If not, they can put you on the wait list for the next show (and then you can go do another activity downtown). They keep the place pretty clean too, really nice bathrooms haha.

As someone with limited mobility often - I have a tissue disorder and some days I am far more mobile than others. I am also, due to the tissue disorder, more modest means. Thankfully Portland Center Stage is a proud Arts for All member. In addition - they really do welcome people. They have a lot of seating for ADA and accommodate you should you need chair arms or no arms or will have a spot cleared for your wheelchair. I appreciate tickets being low cost for me but with ADA it can be tricky and the events at the most challenging ADA locations expect you to show up right before a show hoping they will have an extra ticket which I cannot physically do and would not want that on ushers either. When inquiring, I have been treated with less than stellar attitude. I would love to have money and mobility and I used to! I know so many who are starting to struggle with mobility as they age and I really encourage them to go to spaces like this where they can easily get in and out. But even just calling - they actually answer the phone and are so helpful! I get that they want to sell as much at full price but it makes me really appreciate how truly welcoming Portland Center Stage is. Arts are healing and the productions here really are top notch. Their staff is very diverse throughout the theater making it feel like a safe space for everyone also. When seeing shows here, they do have a great concessions stand/bar with a great wine selection and some decent snacks. The theater is in such a great location - to the back of the theater is a favorite gelato place of mine and also some of the most delicious West African food if you want to make a whole night of it!

There is a major miss with this facility in bringing a warm and supportive environment for children. At Spotlight, my daughter feels both challenged and supported, and has a true sense of belonging there. We were on the waitlist for a long time (almost 2 years!), because Spotlight is so good and people know it, but believe me, it was worth the wait. It was a touch weird to see the performers with head set microphones and also holding microphones but also having a bit aggressive on the sound. It is a small space and seemed to be set to levels that would sound a venue twice this size. Seat comfort can always be better. I was shocked there was zero bathroom line as they have one. As someone with a peanut sized bladder, I will never complain about an available restroom that is clean and has soap and all the papers. And now, a small rant. I am not 'sober' but I don't tend to drink while out and about and I have quite a few sober friends due to recovery or even a few are actually allergic to alcohol (I am allergic to hops and agave, aka tequila). Several of the friends I go to things with are one of these so I don't drink. I am also many times the one driving. Can I just get a Coke or Pepsi... seriously, the options to not drink beer or wine is kombucha, coffee or hot cocoa??? We seriously thought she was kidding. Thanks for having a tap with water? The restaurant is separated into three distinct spaces. You enter into the middle room, which has some seating, a large pizza oven, several display cases of food and desserts and a coffee bar. Heading past the coffee bar into the left room, there is a modern space with bright natural light and a classy ambiance. This would be my choice for a fancy date or special occasion. It also seems less busy on that side, at least to me. Perfect for a lovely conversation in the company of someone fun. The room on the right is a little more dim, and has the appearance of a lounge. There is a bar with several whiskey bottles on display, and plentiful seating. When I visit the restaurant for lunch, this space often isn't used for seating so maybe it is dedicated for events or overflow. The prices are definitely very high. The bathrooms are clean and parking is very easy out front. This is definitely not a place that I would go unless it was for a nice occasion, but the service is outstanding and the food is really spectacular. He cut us off while ordering and wouldn't allow us to order drinks and food at the same time... after spending $200+ in one dinner you have a certain expectation for service and that was missed. We asked if he would be willing to split the bill into two separate transactions (which he didn't want to do) and then made a comment about if we split the bill down the middle "it would have only made a $10 difference".

Let's address the real star of the show: the popcorn. They pile it up like a buttery Mount Everest majestic to the eye, but often as stale as something dug out of an attic. If you want the good stuff, you must ask for it straight from the popper. Trust me, it's the difference between glory and regret. Now, the crowd... oh, the crowd. You'll occasionally encounter rogue children running missions of their own while their parents stare at their phones like they're defusing a bomb. It's mildly chaotic, mildly hilarious, and mildly distracting in the most entertaining way possible. If you want the premium experience, go for the big theater with the reclining chairs. That's where legends sit. Comfort, space, and the perfect angle for judging humanity between previews. All in all, it's one of my favorite places to go. A little wild, a little unpredictable, but always fun. Some of the people are questionable but that's half the entertainment. You really can't complain.
