I zoned out during the facial hehe. I had two others with me and they received a massage. They were relaxed and glad that we planned this visit. I'm kind of weary of spas outside of popular areas. The right side is longer than the left side. The layers are all very different. I had panic attacks every time I touched it or looked in a mirror and washed it as it made me so sick to my stomach that someone could do such a terrible job cutting hair and calling oneself a professional. No professional would do a this bad. I called and complained spoke to an employee who said the owner was not in and she would pass the message along. The owner when I finally did get in touch with him did not care one bit of how bad of a job my hair turned out. And the worst part about it I explained to her prior to her, even starting my hair that my biggest fear was getting my haircut and considering how bad of a job she did it looked nothing like the picture, and it was so uneven and looked so bad. Several months have gone by and I still can't get all of my hair into one ponytail. My request was that my hair be passed my shoulders so we could go into a ponytail. I didn't get close to that and I still can't get it into a ponytail. I do not recommend this place at all the owner and his wife are not very reliable or responsible. I have always wanted to know what was inside that building/house especially with that gorgeous curved front door. Passed it so many times on University. Parking was easy and nice to have designated parking spots for Bare Philosophy. Walked in and had no idea that you had to take your shoes off. I get for cleanliness sake and winter bringing water/salt, but I wasn't expecting it. I walked in and noticed another patron standing inside with her socks on so I followed suit. I didn't notice behind me that they provide slides to wear after you take off your shoes. There was no staff downstairs so no one to greet me or give instructions. There was a coffee machine. Old historical charm throughout! The other client got brought back and I just was standing around. I finally heard someone in the foyer area and was checked in at that point and brought back to a large room for my eyebrow appointment. We spoke a bit about eyebrow shape and how she likes to keep things natural/follow your natural shape. Can always take off more later if I wanted. I think my eye wax was all of five minutes. Trimming, a few strips of waxing, and then tweezing and that's it. Let me have a look in the mirror and I was happy for the most part. I should've asked to trim my eyebrows a little more. But overall content with the shape. I wish there was something to put on my skin afterwards to calm it down since I get red easily. Again, the whole process was super quick, didn't feel overly personalized with an eye brow shaping/waxing but the job got done. The staff who did my brows was very nice and we made conversation throughout my service. I felt comfortable and no pain with the waxing/tweezing. Afterwards, she checked me out and you can give a tip on a card. $20 is a fair price for an eyebrow wax, what I was paying for at another place in the area.

Deeply Disappointed and Concerned -- Chemical Burn and No Accountability…read more On 5/12/25, I received a highlight and lowlight service at Hair 2 Dare Salon--an experience that turned out to be not only deeply disappointing but genuinely painful and concerning. As a licensed cosmetologist with over five years of experience getting my own hair highlighted and colored, I've never had an issue--until now. My stylist was 10 minutes late, which delayed an already long process that ended up taking over 4 hours. I had foils in my hair for more than 2 hours--far too long for lightener to safely process. This is basic chemical safety that all professionals should know. At the shampoo bowl, a wet towel was pressed against my neck. I now believe it had bleach or lightener on it, as I left the salon with a chemical burn on my neck. Since then, the lower portion of my scalp has been peeling and is still painful. The salon offered no apology, no compensation, and took no accountability. Instead, they simply suggested I take Benadryl. That is not an appropriate or professional response to a chemical injury. To make matters worse, they tried to claim it was my body "having a reaction"--despite my history of safely receiving the same services for years without issue and that it was only the lower portion of my scalp where chemicals were left the longest. This was clearly due to overprocessing and improper chemical handling. I'm sharing this to help others make informed decisions.
