Its no longer the Paragon Hotel. It has been improved since my last stay. Room 422 is small but compact, clean, pleasant with views over Birmingham. Digbeth is changing. I needed a quiet time as I haven't had a good night's sleep for months. Someone keeps knocking in my new home. No one knows who it is and all my plans to unpack, sort out, make things whilst enjoying retirement have been shattered. I got to the hotel last night after an inspirational day with JT Foxx. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The name Paragon is still over the doir. There's a bookcase full of mostly Irish books in reception. The doors are easier to open. The ceiling doesn't look like ones in a horror movie with broken or opened tiles, pipes with untidy cladding. I turned in the tv. A luxury as I haven't plugged in mine at home yet. I'm told they may not work either. I slept from 9pm to 8 am. Couldn't find the TV remote when I woke up. It had fallen down the side of the bed and my mobile phone was still clasped in my hand. . The staff were friendly, helpful and relaxed. With TV and hifi it was closest to heaven I've been in ages. Lying in bed with Esta my new purple and pink bunny thinking of the changes I've got to make in my life, looking out of the window at the changing sky, one minute blue, the next grey. Raining, sunny, so different, so soon. From this little room, from the view, I get inspiration to write, ideas for recycling. £30 well spent. read more
