I needed a handyman to take care of a few shingles that got blown off my roof. The Angi people got…read moremy name off another "trusted" website and sent it to these guys. I got a call from this business. So I sent him a picture of the damage and asked for an estimate. He came back a day later with a $400 estimate. I said I'd like to do it. We scheduled it for May 27th at 9AM (Memorial Day was his idea). The next day I got a QuickBooks email with an invoice from them for $400. I figured it was a software goof, sending me the invoice early. I mean, who is going to pay a complete stranger they've never met $400 for no reason? That's got "scam" written all over it. Well, apparently they expected me to pay in full, in advance. So, the day comes and he doesn't show up. No message. No call. No email. I messaged him at 9:15am and got nothing. I called at 9:30am and I got a very sleepy man. I asked him if he was coming. He said "I figured you didn't want me to since you didn't pay." It's important to remember that I've never met this man yet. He is a stranger on the internet with a business that seems to have gone through several names, with a website that doesn't match the business name, etc. So I asked him why I should pay for a job that wasn't done yet. He countered with "How am I supposed to buy supplies?" Seriously. The insurance company inspector of the damage said it should be six shingles. So this guy apparently felt that I should front $400 so he could buy a few shingles. While I'm responding, he interrupts with "half." That's how he communicates a lot--single words. Now he wanted half the money--$200. That's typical scammer behavior, right? Can't get it all, so go for half. I told him I'd find someone else. I'm not completely averse to fronting some reasonable down payment (or buying the shingles myself), but typically for a job this small, that isn't necessary. I've gotten a furnace installed with no up front money. Same for A/C. Same for my electrical panel. Same for my swamp cooler (yes I have both). My problem is that this idiot didn't communicate the need for a partial payment. He just sent me a one-line invoice for $400 and expected me to pay for it before he did the job. Furthermore, he didn't communicate his assumption that I didn't want the job done because I didn't respond to his premature invoicing, so I jerked up my Memorial Day waiting for his mentally challenged self. All that drama for a simple one-hour (at the most) job. Imagine what might happen if you hired this moron for something bigger. Do not use Randolph Residential. Run the other way.

Like others have experienced, most places really are just a lawn care service and do not want to do much else. The exception is of course the folks who only want to major landscaping projects. They came and too care of the backyard clean up, that was a lot of very large weeds with some plants that I wanted to keep. The weeds were removed, not just mowed down, and my plants I was keeping were taken care of. Zack was knowledgeable, and very efficient. Given the size of the project and that he took care of disposal of the weeds, the value is excellent.

This review is for Fortino Painting of Pueblo West. My…read moreproject consisted of the airless spraying of the exterior walls (all stucco), eaves, trim, etc. and exterior doors of my house, garage, and two other small outbuildings. There were numerous places that the paint was passable from one angle but light/non-existent from a different angle. Of course, I didn't discover these until days/weeks later but Joe wanted paid immediately. Don't pay him until you have thoroughly examined everything, EVERYTHING; otherwise once he's paid there's a good chance of you not seeing him again. They're not much good at brush work either. One door needed repainting, which they did but it looked (I have pics.) like it was repainted with cottage cheese. It took me hours to strip it down correctly, sand and then repaint it myself. The other main issue I have concerned approx. 150 sq. ft. of faux rock. It was painted but we both agreed that it would need another coat and that he would return, but not right away. I literally asked him to give me his "word-of-honor" (which he did) that if I paid him an additional $400 up front (which I did), he would return to complete this. It's been approx. 11 weeks since an initial call to him to return to fulfill our agreement. He said he would be contacting me to setup a day to return but hasn't contacted me and has since been ignoring/avoiding my attempts to contact him (calls/emails) to fulfill our verbal contract. Get everything in writing, as he will tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear! I honestly don't believe he is a real painter, but a wannabe who had a little money and thought he'd open a business. If you want someone who stands by you and his performance with your project, Joe Fortino is NOT your man. When it happens to you, don't say you weren't warned! Any man who will not keep his word is a real piece of (hmmm) work...
