Both were within a short walking distance and is best to park at either the senior center or the main parking lot (troll parking lot marker upon field entry) Ninigret park is HUGE! I saw a tennis courts, basketball courts, a playscape, walking trails and a nice pond among the trolls They also had a Dels lemonade truck in the parking lot and this was perfect for a hot summers day

I think…read moremost people see the trolls and leave, but we actually followed the whole trail, which we had to duck down and weave through weeds and overgrowth through a lot of it since it's clearly not maintained. It was cool to see. Good pit stop to get some exercise. The bathroom they had was a camp-style latrine type where it was a big hole and no sink. Was fine for me to pee but my city friend didn't like it. Gets the job done when you have to pee and it's a step up above a portopotty.

I decided to take a quick trip last weekend and there was a road race taking place, so parking was limited. There's a handful of boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants in this area, so you can easily make this a day trip. This park is about 10 minutes away from downtown Newport!

I have a toddler and while…read morein town the family wanted to explore local playgrounds in the nice area around Brown University. Brassil Park is a cute neighborhood playground but certainly not a destination playground like Lippitts Memorial Park or Dexter Field. It needs some landscape pretty badly and the ginkgo trees in the fall smell to high heaven. The stink from these trees' fruit stayed in my nostrils for quite a while after leaving.

A beautiful and historic park with views of downtown Providence. It is located right on a hill and has the statue and tomb of Roger Williams with his hand out. There were benches and a small path throughout. A great place to picnic, watch the sunset, and just relax. The Rhode Island State House and Providence Place Mall can be seen from there. There is no parking lot just street parking. The houses nearby are historic. This was a frequent stop for author HP Lovecraft. No wonder it is called "The Jewel of the City".

The park holds a lot of sentimental value for the city because it houses the Roger Williams statue and tomb. Personally, I appreciate how well maintained the park is and how peaceful it is. On warmer days, it can get a little busy, but it's a great place to relax. When I'm need of a little reprieve I like to bring my blanket and meditate on the grass. I also appreciate its location being so close to Brown and downtown Providence simultaneously. It's convenient and peaceful.

Colts State Park is an amazing waterfront park in Bristol, Rhode Island. It's a little drive…read moresoutheast of Providence or north of Newport, but worth a visit if you like wildlife and views of the New England waterfront. There is one paid parking area closest to the beach, volleyball nets, and covered picnic tables, but there's plenty of free parking lots throughout the rest of the park. The waterfront areas include a fishing pier and plenty of benches. The lots are thoughtfully laid out along the walking/biking paths, with plenty of scattered picnic tables. Wildlife is abundant here as we saw loads of geese and quite a few seagulls. Some of the areas of the park are under maintenance and the benches are a bit rusted out, but these minor things didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of Colt State Park, so look forward to returning here.

A quiet park in a…read morenoisy city Morton Park has been around since 1920. It was left to the city of Newport by Levi Parsons Morton, the 22nd vice president of the United States. Parsons lived primarily in New York but also had property in Newport and he left his mansion to Salve Regina University and this plot of land to be made into a park. Nice guy. Even though Newport gets swarms of tourists and visitors in the summer not too many people make it to the park. It's only a block away from Bellevue Ave and all the historic mansions and touristy stuff but it's primarily used just by local people. For some reason most people visiting Newport seem stuck in certain areas and miss most of the cool parts of the city. The park has a playground that is usually infested with screaming kids in the summer and several large open fields that are great for throwing around footballs or walking dogs. Some benches are scattered around and a short hiking trail is located in the woods on the south side. I have seen folks cross country skiing here in the winter but there really isn't much room. Most people that come here seem to be more intent on doing nothing rather than something. In the colder months the park gets very quiet, serene and peaceful. When the wind is right you can smell the ocean on the breeze to remind you how Newport got the name "City by the Sea". A park that is a nice place to get away from crowds and noise, and a place that you can go by a millions times and never notice it. One of those special locations that seems to be stealthy and disappears unless you go out of your way to look for it.
