Room was grubby. Holes in floor coverings. Nothing but a sheet on the bed. Paid $85 for the room. Didn't have high expectations but it still failed to deliver. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else. read more

The lounge was horrible as the bartenders and waiters were rude. The drinks were extremely expensive as well. Food was ice cold. The hotel itself was disgusting. Somebody relieved themself in the pool so we couldn't use that and there were cockroaches in the room. On the bed there were stains and bedbugs. Asked for a room change and after a full hour struggle the management finally gave us a different room. In that room, the bathroom was cramped and smelled horrible. Bad bad bad. 1/5 stars.

But regardless, this tropical paradise has stunning views and waking up to the thousands of tropic bird sounds was magic. You feel like you're on a resort island being so close to the beach and in the middle of all these banana trees. I would easily return, and ensure I had paper towels with me...

We only paid $112 for our room on last minute standby rates. The pool is not heated, which is a bit of a let down, but there are tennis courts, mini golf, an arcade, a beach and heaps more to keep the kids occupied while Mum and Dad get some R and R. Probably not the best place for a couples retreat, but for a family it would do the job fine.

The location is great and easy to find being right near the Big Banana…read more The staff are friendly but not very helpful when you arrive. You would expect that when a group of 8 of you check in they would assist with getting all your luggage to your room which was a big FAIL. The room we stayed in was very clean and had generous rooms. The kitchen was very well appointed and well equipped with what you would expect from a resort. The Buree we stayed in was the family room and it had four bedrooms with three bathrooms, one of which had a spa bath. The free Austar/Foxtel was great for the days that weren't very good weather wise but be warned, the resort offers WIFI but it's very expensive. If you have time to use or need internet access, you may be better off going to your local telco and buying a wifi/3G USB dongle. Plenty of parking but a fair distance from the reception if you have lots of luggage to carry. Although the resort does have use of trolleys. The restaurant overlooking the ocean was very picturesque and the food was very nice and very reasonably priced. Lunchtime time mains were around $15 and very tasty. The many pools on the grounds of the resort meant there was no shortage of cooling off after a day of sight seeing around Coffs Harbour. Even on wet days, the outdoor heated spa baths were very relaxing. Then of course there was the beach which was only a short walk from the resort. A wonderful location for families as there were plenty of things to do. The kids swimming area with water slide was a big hit with my niece. Final analysis: It's an 8 out of 10 for me. Great family getaway. Good way to unwind and relax.

BAR: The selection of drinks available was satisfactory, and the prices were quite reasonable for a resort. Some of the staff seemed quite inexperienced i.e did not know how to mix basic drinks or were various wines were kept but overall was not too bad. DINNER: This is were it started to go down hill a little. The oysters Kilpatrick were OK, just and were quite expensive. The mains were tasty, but the sauce and accompaniments seemed to be very store bought. Once again the price was way out of proportion to the offering. At this stage probably still a 3.5 star experience when you take into account we were at a resort so high prices are to be expected with a captive audience. BUFFET BREAKFAST: Terrible, just terrible. Pay $25 a head for a buffet breakfast and you do NOT expect this. Coffee machine out of water that no one bothers to top up, no bacon, scrambled eggs that are so runny they border on liquid and a toast station that had barely anything but crusts left. Overall I would not eat here again. The accommodation was fine, but for food just go into Coffs. There are enough fine eating establishments there that you do not need to inflict this place on yourself.
