Paradise Paddle not only provided the boards but they also staked our spot on the beach with umbrellas - everyone safely socially distanced. While looking for an PB company to rent from, Paradise Paddle is the BEST. Most places do not open until 10am. PP is open at 8am!!! Paradise Paddle made our standup paddle boarding (SUP) experience GREAT for us newbies! We met with Carre (pronounced Care-REE) on a Balboa Island shore and were provided with nice, well-kept (practically NEW!) VESL boards and paddles. She gave us good tips on where to paddle that was perfect for the allotted time. Price was VERY reasonable and they do accept contactless payments (Venmo, Zelle). When we were done with our session, we were greeted with nice cold bottled waters! Such a small but yet appreciated gesture! It's best to arrive in the Balboa Island area early in the morning (no later than 8-8:30am) for 3 reasons: 1) to get parking , 2) when there's not much wind and 3) to avoid boat traffic out in the water if you're not comfortable in maneuvering. We'll definitely use Paradise Paddle again for another SUP experience!

I came here today to rent a paddle board. It was nice because there was plenty of parking in the early morning. I purchased a Groupon that had a similar name to this company and that Groupon was a scam. I contacted Carre and she was amazing and let me know more information about her company that was NOT associated with the Groupon that I purchased. I haven't indulged in paddle boarding with this company yet but will be utilizing this service when I return to California again.

Carre was the sweetest lady! She was SO helpful as my friend from BOS was visiting and she thoroughly took the time to explain to her how to use the paddle and the board. She helped us get the boards in the water and took super nice photos on her phone that she sent later to us. We had the best time, she even had coconut waters waiting for us when we got back! Every time I visit balboa I will be hitting her up!

Carre was AMAZING! We had such a good time thanks to her. It was my first time paddle boarding and she explained all the steps and how to handle the waves and paddle so throughly in such a short amount of time. The hostess with the mostest is Carre with Paradise Paddle. She was so accommodating in every way possible and you can tell she genuinely wants you to have the best time possible. I came here today to rent a paddle board. It was nice because there was plenty of parking in the early morning. Carre was great communicating with our party before we arrived. Busy Sunday afternoon, yet she coordinated with us effectively in advance. Great customer service, but the best selling point is that they were open an hour later than any other SUP rental company in the area (open til 7 on a Sunday, last rentals by 6pm). We just had a fantastic morning paddleboarding! We got to the beach at 8:00, and Carre had the boards on the sand waiting for us. They were quality boards and a great price. This is a small business, therefore attention to detail and customer service is what they take pride in & it shows! Paddle boards were waiting for us on the beach, along with bottles of water and sunscreen. The owner of the company was so friendly and knowledgeable. We signed waivers when we got there. No super strict rules- just use common sense on the water & be respectful. It was a very laid back, fun experience. Would definitely book with Paradise Paddle again! read more

Carre is the sweetest! I had a large group and people joining last minute, but Carre was really understanding and helped us add more boards to our reservations. She was quick to get back to us when we shot her a text for questions. At the time of our reservation, she had already set our boards on the water and was super prepared. If you are on the Island or anywhere close in Newport, Paradise is the company you want to go paddle boarding with. Fantastic calm launch spot, everything was ready on time, and attentive customer service. Like others have said, they open up early which is great for those wanting to get a jump on the day. We had an absolutely amazing time paddle boarding today! Our Paddle Boards were waiting for us right on the beach when we arrived, so we could hop on and get going right away! Carre was super friendly and accommodating, and make the experience even better! Most rental places close at 5pm but Paradise Paddle is open until 8pm, so we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset from the paddle boards! Would 10/10 recommend! :) read more

They won't let you rent for more than an hour and a half and they close down the entire shop if there's a slight breeze. EDIT: They then called me immediately back to harass me about my review. I drove 500 miles to come and paddle board and I'm not going to spend $30 for an hour and a half on a board just for the shop to close at 10am . I can paddle just fine in Lake Tahoe. I might spend 60 bucks for a day rate but absolutely not going to drive 500 miles for an hour and a half of paddle boarding. Squishy city Folk afraid of a little wind read more

My family had a great time on the SUPs over Labor Day weekend. The quality of the SUPs at Paradise Paddle were excellent. My teen chose to switch to a fun pink one person kayak since it was on the beach spot and available when we arrived. We had such a great time as we booked an hour and a half session before sunset on the morning of. It was perfect. Carre met us at the beach location and gave us great instructions (arrive 15 minutes early so as to give yourself enough time for parking, where the water would be nice and calm, which way the wind was blowing, and what to do if bigger boats passed by) and we had a lovely time. She even took our family photos and texted them to us. Afterwards, she gave us cool water bottles. That was so very nice of her. We loved the ease of booking and paying for our adventure and would highly recommend this business to friends. read more

Discovered Paradise Paddle as I was enjoying the sunset on the island. Watched the kids run the operation, giving instructions to new customers and managing everything very professionally. The boards themselves look brand new and are a great way to spend the day in Newport. They make it very easy to just show up and head out without any hassle. Aloha! Who we are: Dynamic Duo-Brother and Sister Team-Landon and Astyn What we do: Rent Stand Up Paddle boards and kayaks to all who would like to enjoy this beautiful place we call home-Balboa Island. Astyn: I love the ocean and everything about it-especially all of the living creatures in it-I love living on B.I. and giving back to the community! I am also a Girl Scout, and believe in leaving a place prettier than how I found it. I hope if I can do a small part, it will make a difference. Landon: Hey everyone, I'm Landon! Soccer, paddle boarding and teasing my sister are just a few things that i enjoy doing! J/K about my sister! HA! I love having FUN, so group parties are my absolute favorite! I love giving guided tours, because I get to show people just how special and amazing our home is! I hope to meet you, and share some interesting facts about Newport Beach. We saw many happy folks paddling in their water craft though, and large groups who, I'm assuming, went out on tours. We saw plenty of teams coming and going who keep their equipment there. Their restrooms are located on the side of the building and are open to the public. The reason we came to NAC is that they offer a perfect launch spot for paddle sports. This area of Newport Back Bay is very calm and leads into the estuary. It's a beautiful place to paddle, with abundant bird life and waterfowl, as well as "flying" fish, and no doubt an abundance of marine life below the surface. Besides being a launch point, many families with young children also appreciate the calm water here. The area between beach and boundary can be swum in and is quite shallow. He said that he would give me a full refund for the two tickets that I purchased, and also, give me free kayak rentals since there was a bit of a dilemma. I took up on that offer, emailed Mike, and made reservations to do a tandem kayak for an hour on a Sunday at noon. Mike is all about customer service and wants to make customers satisfied so he offered to throw in another hour for free! My sister and I got to the beach, with the help of Mike's perfect directions, and we laid out for about an hour. We got side street parking! (FREE!) Mike came 2 minutes before noon and unloaded our kayaks. He was so nice to give us some ziplock bags to put our phones in so they don't get wet. My sister and I had a blast! Although it was a bit windy so we were going against the wind! We kayaked for about an hour and 15 minutes. Too bad we couldn't do the two hours. It is definitely a great arm workout! Once we were done, I just texted Mike and docked our kayaks on the beach and that was it! I would definitely come here again! Hope you get your kayaks back soon!! Go to the left and under the bridge and you are in the calm waters of Dune Bay. Go back to the hut and get your ID back and pay. Most peeps stay out 1-2 hours. After 2 hours your arms are tired unless you just go into Dune Bay and relax and let the current take you wherever. WOW!!! I'm not sure where to begin? From the moment I spoke to Carrie on the phone, until the minute my boyfriend and I left-we felt like family. This IS a family owned business, and their story is wonderful. She is an amazing mom, to two equally amazing children. This business is for her children, and the love they have for the environment and their community shows. I had never been paddle boarding, but lovely Balboa Island is the perfect setting for beginners. We had booked one hour, but the minute I stood up, I was hooked! We ended up keeping the boards for half of the day. It did get a bit windy, but we ended up paddling over to a few restaurants where we were able to "valet" the boards, and grab a small bite. She provided a water proof case for our phones, which was perfect, because she had a small speaker that we were able to pair up and listen to music while we paddled around the harbor. We couldn't have had a better experience. I can't express enough gratitude for such a lovely day on the water. Such an amazing experience with Paradise Paddle! We met Carre (the owner) while at Fashion Island and she had everything ready for us when we arrived at Balboa Island, so seamless. The water was beautiful, the day was perfect, and it was such a peaceful, fun way to celebrate my husband's birthday. What really stood out was the intentionality, when we got back, she had a cupcake that said "Happy Birthday" and waters waiting for us. Completely unexpected and so thoughtful.
