I often make Peekaboo my first stop when I have to buy a gift for a baby shower or newborn's arrival. You'll find clothing brands like Quiksilver/Roxy, Zutano, Under the Nile, Hatley and Le Petit Lem, just to name a few. The store itself is small, but makes good use of its space, with separate girl and boy sections, as well as being organized by size (age). There is a growing selection of organically sourced clothing, as well as Continental or European made toys, for those wanting options outside of the standard "Made in China". Though these were still the minority last time I was there. The staff offers multiple services, including baby shower registration, personal shopping, call-backs on out of stock items, and gift wrapping (This is no longer free, but is a nominal charge), as well as being very well versed in the product. They will constantly try to help you, as management trains and requires staff to take a classic personalized service experience. Some people prefer this, others find it pesky, but it's going to happen. They do know the product very well and are very helpful with suggestions if you need something for a gift, but know nothing about the child in question. A couple things that are not carried: cribs, bottles, diapers, and car seats. Peekaboo shares an owner with Splash Toys, just two doors down.

Maybe if I loved the styles more, I can justify it and perhaps if they had a sale. Then again, everyone has different styles since my friend just loved this store. The sales person never once greeted me as well, but they seemed nice and could have been really busy. She worked with a smile on her face, I like that.

12 months later and my love affair with this little shop stands…read more Last week, I was walking the Make It Festival when the infamous Karen jumped into the aisle in front of me. Not only did she remember me (i've bumped into her a few times at the shop, but not more then a handful) but she was still the incredibly energetic, totally genuine ball of sunshine that made me RUN home to pen that first review back in January. And so, as a tip of the hat to my top service ninja of the year, I thought it be best to share some new findings at Two of Hearts: 1. Karen has a jewellery line that she sells at the shop! Go buy it and support local crafters and an all around rad person! ...I don't remember the name, because I took a business card and had her write down the specifics on a few pieces. Such organization obviously means I will lose said card within 24 hours. I do however have a note that says: "Sounds like the muppets song Mahna Mahna." Because i'm an adult. So I will take that to the Twitterverse for further investigation. Stay tuned. 2. Hats!! If you are looking for the most fabulous fall hat, go check out the Andre felt hats from Montreal. I debated over mine last January and it is singlehandedly my second favourite purchase of the year (it's tough to compete with the Fiat...) They are an excellent price (under $100), made in Canada and just classic, beautiful pieces. But if you buy the red one in the window before, I will get mad at you. Bonus points: you can't even find this line online for a better price. Tip of the hat 2ofH. 3. Bags! I have beat the s%&t out of my bag over the year - every day, dual laptop wielding and it has survived. Definitely looking a bit worse for wear, but it's held up far better then I expected, considering the price point is so reasonable. Right now, they have super awesome colours like hot pink mailbags & bright red clutches. It's a rainbow money suck! 4. Still with the awesome people. Karen isn't an anomaly here. Honest to gosh, i've had nothing but the most fabulous service every time i've gone in. Everyone who works here is all sugar & spice. ...I still have yet to find any actual clothing that fits me properly here... but I don't care. Great accessories & fab people will keep this place as a go to. *** Meiku Designs!!! ... not even close.

This is a really great, very small children's new & used clothing store on the Main Street stroll…read more The owner has a great eye. Used items are very nice & fit "the look" of the store - which I would describe as unique, well-made, and colourful. I love the lack of stereotypical pinks & blues - traded in for a softer, earthier, more casual looks for kids of both genders. Items are really well organized for easy shopping. Prices in general are very good, but the used items are a particularly great deal. Beansprouts even carries high quality, gently worn shoes. I think you could easily walk out of here with a very nice used outfit for under $20 CAD. The only drawback might be that Beansprouts is for the size 6x and under set - my daughters, 9 & 11, were disappointed none of the offerings would fit them. I was disappointed I couldn't find anything for my 7 year old son - though I'm sure he wasn't!

Nice Clothes, but Poor Service…read more I stopped in to find special-occasion dresses. They were out of our sizes, so I asked if there was a way to be alerted when new stock arrives. The manager's response: "No. People just know to come in at the start of the season." I asked when that would be, and she said, "August and February." We need dresses sooner, so I apologized but asked if she knew where else I might find them. She gave a tight smile and said, "No, there really isn't anywhere else around here that sells high-end. You'd need to look online." I left, walked east on Broadway for 30 seconds...and ran right into Sparkle and Junebug, which has beautiful, well-made children's clothes. I found several dresses with the help of a friendly and efficient sales associate. It's impossible that the Babes on Fourth manager didn't know about this neighbouring boutique. Maybe she just didn't want to send me to a competitor, but she lost a potential customer and a significant sale as a result. (As Julia Roberts would say, "Big mistake. Big. Huge!")

My daughter is going to have her first child (our first grandbaby) so in my excitement I went…read moreon-line and found her some maternity pieces. Site unseen the material was not the usual jersey/linen/cotton- apparently more like scuba material and not what she was looking for. Discouraged, and looking for a brick and mortar maternity store I came upon a local one where I could feel the materials. What a gem of a store. I walked in looking rather lost (they also have great non-maternity pieces too). So the salesclerk (forgot her name; apologies- lovely and really in the know) came to my rescue and I found jumpsuits in bamboo cotton, flowing maternity dresses, and a whole lot more. The clerk had wonderful suggestions for work-wear and for casual wear. Thank you. I was so pleased as picky daughter lives out of town; shipped them in time for Christmas. She apparently loves the jumpsuits. (Loves it all - she doesn't feel quite so frumpy; they're perfect around the midriff) "You gotta shop here; great service, great merchandising, a few laughs....Just the best".
