Point Mallard Golf Course

Point Mallard Golf Course

Average course: first time as I was visiting the area and was invited by friends…read more Unsure of the course I opted to ride, but it's definitely walkable in that there aren't hills to navigate. Even w riding I got about 8k steps in. (But I also purposefully will take my "Sunday bag" and walk to my hike and let my seated partner drive to theirs) I'm a newbie golfer (2yrs) but have intentionally tried out various courses and am learning quite a bit about them and how "I" personally rate them: so this is my own personal newbie experience Much like my home course in Aberdeen Maryland: It's flat. Pretty wide open. If you hit halfway decent you shouldn't lose balls to "off the fairway"...unless you really are way way way off the fairway Few hazards...but it's best to go with folk who know where said hazards are..there's one man-made ravine that crossed the fairway on a par 5 that isn't noticeable from the tee box. From the red tees, water was only a hazard a couple of times right off the box The greens were in great shape, and the fairways fine (imo) It runs along the Tn River, so pretty quiet and peaceful and not amongst houses. There's a walking path between "it" and the river so bikers and walkers are seen, but not a disturbance. I was with a group who already made reservations so I had no dealings with the staff Likely will return. Short 25minute drive from hsv/madison, I enjoyed myself

It was a BEAUTIFUL Autumn day which made the course even more enjoyable! Two of our foursome had never been there and we both commented how much we liked it and look forward to returning. The greens and fairways were in great shape for the most part (if they had sand on the golf carts, I think the fairways would be in better shape). It's a friendly course, that is pretty wide open, has strategically placed sand traps (really deep ones by the way) and some tricky water features. The greens themselves have some really cool twists and turns, too, making the putting piece interesting and fun. I did not have time to check out the pro shop too thoroughly or the "grill." I did see a couple of guys enjoying a beer on the back, covered deck. Looking forward to many more fun rounds at PMGC!

Huntsville County Club is a really nice oasis located in a middle class part of Huntsville. It was…read moreestablished over 100 years ago. I worked there for years in various capacities: a server in the various dining rooms, special event serving (wedding receptions and other events), bartender in the upstairs bar, and bartender in the 19th hole. I really enjoyed working here and even held a function (I believe it was a rehearsal dinner) when my Momma's friend loaned us her membership to use the facility. The food was really well prepared when I worked there. The facility was always sparkling clean and the kitchen was spotless and well run! I can't speak to the golf, since I have never golfed here. I do know there is a mature pecan tree on the edge of the golf course where people like to go and load up on the pecans when they are in season. The swimming pool was always well managed and full of young people and a few adults, too. It was nice that members can order food and have it delivered to them at the pool! Huntsville County Club offers a variety of memberships from City Social (non golfer), Corporate Membership, Non-Resident Golf, Senior Golf, Full Resident Gold, Young Executive Golf, and Junior Executive Golf. The Huntsville County Club Golf Pros teach golf lessons to children aged 4 and up and adults. They've always had a nice pro shop, and they've added a TrackMan golf simulation room in 2019. The TrackMan is a 650 square foot room in the clubhouse with TrackMan 4 golf simulation technology, artificial turf, and a 225 inch screen that projects data. This room is used for lessons, practice, playing, or "just surviving the winter months without being cold." If you get the opportunity, do visit Huntsville County Club, it is a lovely addition to Huntsville!

From the outside, it looks like this place has seen better days. However, the inside was nice. It's very spacious.
