The new shop is smaller and more cozy than the old space. As of mid-2021, it seems like the store is still in the process of becoming homey and curated the way the old one was. But they still had exactly what I came in for--chalk paint. The wood block swatches and the chalk painted furniture in the store makes this a great place to find what you're looking for. I'm also a fan of the cards and paper products here. There always seems to be a little something that catches my eye. Stylish Patina is a great store for the DIY lover or the person looking for unique home decor and gifts.

Sur La Table offers so many cooking classes in their very conveniently located professional kitchen…read moreinside the Galleria store.  It was very hard to choose which to do first!  We opted for a Flavors of Southern France feast of Bouillabaisse, salad with tapenade dressing, aioli, and lemon lavender sable cookies.  All were delicious and we felt very comfortable making them with the encouragement of the wonderful chef Tiffany.  The class was a small size so we were all able to participate while being reminded to maintain a lot of attention to cleanliness.  The time passed quickly and we were well rewarded with confidence in our new recipes and skills and a really delicious meal.  The only suggestion I would make would be to see if it would be possible to have stools/chairs available in the kitchen.  It is tough on the back to stand on a hard floor for two hours.  Or, maybe they could put down some of the special mats they have elsewhere in the store where people have to stand for a while.  Other than that, we had a great time and look forward to booking many more classes in the future.

Very disappointed with the customer service at Sur La Table…read more I purchased a coffee machine and returned to the store the very next day because I was not satisfied with it. The machine had only been tested by running water through it, which is a normal step to determine whether it functions properly and meets expectations. Despite this, the staff refused to accept the return. What made the experience even more frustrating was the attitude of the employees. Instead of focusing on helping a customer who had just made a purchase, they repeatedly questioned why I bought the machine in the first place. This felt dismissive, unprofessional, and completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. I understand that stores have return policies, but the way this situation was handled showed very little regard for customer satisfaction. A coffee machine is not something you can truly evaluate without at least setting it up and testing it. Refusing a next-day return after minimal use and then interrogating the customer about their purchase decision is not the level of service I expected from a specialty kitchen retailer. This experience has left me with a negative impression of Sur La Table, and I will think twice before making another major purchase there.

So we approached the front entrance with trepidation, not knowing what to expect when we stepped inside. But sure enough, just inside the front entrance was the custard counter. We arrived on a late Friday afternoon, walking over from The Sandwich Shop a few blocks down Church (same side of the street and walking right past Rita's (!!)) after having a late sammie lunch (also our first time at The Sandwich Shop - read my review). We had spotted Kiln & Custard as we drove past it to get to the sandwich place and made a mental note to save room to try their custard as a cap-off to lunch. What a great location! Walkable anywhere from old town Vienna and the downtown area (nothing is really that far), tucked away one block off busy Maple Ave, surprisingly lots of great FREE street parking (on Church) but also right there in their small shopping center parking lot so it's truly not a pain-in-the-butt to head over and not have to stress about where to park. The guy serving the custard was also tending to customers doing pottery painting (not many when we arrived) - dunno how service is if you just come in for the custard and the place is packed (we saw that pottery customers had to ask the guy each time they wanted more paint which he portioned out for them...vs customers self-serving their own paint and colors in other paint-your-own places we've been to - with a single worker, I can imagine that could be a bottleneck problem if the pottery side is busy AND there's a line of custard customers waiting to be served). The frozen custard is DEEEEELICIOUS. You can definitely see as it's being scooped AND TASTE that it's housemade. SOOOOO GOOOD. Very creamy, soft, pliable, rich custard flavor and not too sweet. They offer 12 flavors - see my pics of the 2 display cases of custards. PRICES IMO ARE VERY REASONABLE. $2.85 for a kid's size, GENEROUS HEAVY HANDED PORTIONS (and who doesn't love THAT in this economy?!). I had the Vanilla Oreo and my friend had the Nutella - a perfect after-lunch dessert treat. TREMENDOUS! For the price, generous portion sizes, quality of the custard combined with its easily accessible location in Vienna and no hassle parking options, this could for sure be a destination frozen-treat shop when I'm in the Vienna area (which is fairly regularly). Even if you don't buy something at Rumi Life, your bound to enjoy something you might not have seen or knew existed before. The place is pretty busy now, but the employees are doing what they can to keep things organized and assist guests to the store. The employees may not smile, but they should be approachable. I don't see much of Kuromi in this store this time. The Hello Kitty merchandise does spring up from time to time. I have started taking a liking to the Kuromi collection, but haven't bought anything yet. It's just a matter of time. There is one big thing you should know. The stuff here is nice to look at, but if you buy something here, THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Please remember this if you come here to shop.

Nice Hallmark shop with a wide variety & selection of items…read more I got there 10 minutes before closing not realizing that most of the stores in this strip mall now close at 8pm instead of 9pm. No worries, the girls were sweet as can be. They had a lot of fun things to peruse. There were several bare card shelves so I don't know if they were getting rid of them or just changing out stock but no biggie. I was looking for a little gift for a baptism and found a beautiful little angel that was holding a malachite stone for protection - perfect! At the register I saw the much talked about Dubai chocolate bar that I had always wanted to try so I coughed up the $25 & splurged lol. I can say that I'm glad I tried it but sadly I was not blown away or even mildly impressed but super happy for the opportunity to try it!

The displays are impressive and pretty, like the new cat with the Santa hat, festive. I was curious to see what Lego sets they had and there's a lot I like, such as HP, animal crossing, flower type ones that look like they'd go in a vase, and exotic cars which is perfect for my bro (he likes those types of Legos). I liked the Lego wall art like the Mona Lisa and Starry Night, debating if I want to come back and grab one! The associates are friendly and knowledgeable, the reason why I subtracted a star is the prices are usually fairly expensive and I don't know/think they ever do sales. Still need to also check out Lego discovery center at the local Springfield mall! We'll be back again for future Christmas shopping.
