Before we begin I am going to provide a link to the USDA government website explaining what expiration dates really mean, which is completely different then likely 95% of people think. https://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/food-product-dating Wilson's focuses on purchasing overstock merchandise, stock from companies going out of business, stock from major retail sources who product is about to expire or that has expired. This could be paper/dry goods, vitamins, refrigerated/frozen items, appliances, clothing, and other items I may not have seen. This saves those companies sending it to landfills and wasting it. Wilson's then turns around and sells those items at absolutely incredible low prices. Due to the above they don't have a normal stock of items. The inventory and products will constantly change depending on the lot of goods they buy weekly. Can you say Treasure Hunt each time you visit! Dont let the outside of the building or its simplicity fool you. There are deals in here you will absolutely never, ever find in a regular store you normally shop at. Wilson's is in a location away from major retailing centers. The outside/inside of the building, signage, and parking areas could use a little updating. All of the employees I encountered were very helpful and busy. The inside is divided into two sections. The back area has the most dry goods, restaurant supply items and part of a freezer section. The front portion of the store has a couple refrigerated sections, another freezer section and some more dry goods. One thing to me which was of a potential concern was the freezer section some of the items we partially frozen and not fully frozen. Now this could be from it not freezing properly or it could be due to the product not being transported properly. The items that I did encounter like this weren't of a critical nature that it would have impacted quality though. Quite a bit of what I encountered was larger restaurant size goods or food size cans. Some was hotel overstock food. Examples of what I found. 1 gallon Ken's Honey Mustard, $2.99, 30 count package of brownies with cookie on top 99 cents, 1 gallon frozen chili 2.99, large restaurant size chili con carne 4.99, large tray of milk cake 1.99, large package of diced onions 99 cents, 22lbs of frozen chocolate chip cookie dough 4.99 large package of instant potatoes 99 cents, market street package of beef stew 1.99, and so on. They had much much more than I mentioned, but you will just have to get there and check out this little hidden gem of value. The sign out front does say to bring your own bags and boxes, just an FYI. They do have shopping carts inside. Pro-Tip: I brought my very large ice chest to make sure all my cold items stayed at the right temperature. I filled up a 119qt ice chest. The whole shopping cart stacked very high ended up being only $123.79. Try spending that low of an amount at your grocery store for a whole cart full of items...

We first stopped at the smaller Salvage store. It had an assortment of clothing for men, women, and children, and you really need to comb through the racks to find something in your size. I wish they would organize the clothes by size, rather than by brand/style, but my time was well-spent, as I found two nice tops from brands I love (Tangerine and Loft) for $8 and $3, respectively. They also have aisles with various grocery and household items. We found an embroidered yard flag, an auto sun shade, a pair of earrings, and some Pellegrino sparkling water (3 for $1). My sister-in-law also found a cute pair of sandals for under $15. We next went to the Overstock store, located in an old Kmart just down the road. It had a larger selection of clothing, shoes, watches, jewelry, and grocery and household items, and also had sporting goods, furniture, and appliances. It had a rustic/shabby chic vibe and reminded me of those stores that you might see in North Georgia cabin country. There wasn't much to see and it felt more like someone's workspace instead of a furniture store. They had two really nice arm chairs that were blocked with a sign that said "Please do not sit on me". Now, how in the world would you ever expect to sell a chair that can't be tested? Also, if you don't want customers sitting on the furniture, don't place it on the main floor or just place it in the window where there is no direct access. I understand that because these chairs were very light in color that they were concerned with them getting soiled but this sign just seemed inappropriate and out of place in a furniture store. Much of what I saw was very light in color so if you want a light decor, you could check out the options here. There are also decorative items to add a bit of visual interest or to complete a look. This store appeared to be staged for visitors to just walk in and out. It just didn't seem very customer friendly although the ladies working here were. I just left feeling confused. Was it me?

The owners/staff were absolutely amazing at helping with the surprise. They helped me do the purchase over the phone, responded quickly to questions, and offered to hold the chairs for me until I could get back to pick them up. When the day came, lo and behold, the chairs wouldn't fit in my car! Temporary panic, but no worries. Lori arranged for immediate delivery for a very reasonable price. Just one more reason to shop local instead of all the hassle of the chain stores! I was so pleased with this purchase, and I have recommended this store to other friends who love to fill their homes with unique pieces. Blue Fern is the real deal. You can get cheap reproductions of the farm house look anywhere, but Blue Fern has truly unique, carefully selected, quality items. So thrilled with the entire experience! Check them out when you are in downtown Newnan.
