Delicious! Variety of options, great prices, food was fresh, hot, well prepared. Spouse ordered fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes and gravy and peach cobbler. I had a four-veggie plate with steamed cabbage, pea salad, black-eyed peas with okra and tomatoes, and squash with tomatoes. Such great options for a vegetarian!! Everything tasted so good. We also had plenty of food and took a couple things home for later. I was wanting some livers and found this place. I will say the livers were hot, crispy and tasty. The fish was cold, rolls were cold and they forgot my peach cobbler. We got the buy 3 get one free chopped BBQ sandwiches that was old and the buns were hard. I will say the menu was very extensive, it was hard to choose through the drive thru. Drive thru lady was petting a customers dog before us. We almost left seeing that. Another employee was out front smoking, not in the back. So customers would smell their smoke walking in. I am a resident in Trinidad, Texas and have been here for 8 years. During this time I have purchased hamburger patties from PaPa's Fried Chicken in Seven Points at the price of $8.00. On January the 6th, we pulled into PaPa's and ordered the 3 patties and the owner attempted to sell them to me for $16.00 dollars. The owner told us that we had to pay for a the patties as though they were full hamburgers. I reminded the clerk that we normally pay 5 $5.00 for two patties, but she told us that we would have to pay the $16.00 or we couldn't buy them. We were very disappointed with the situation, so we went to Dairy Queen and got the 3 patties for $8.00. This is the normal cost anywhere else in Seven Points or in Gun Barrel City, Texas. I would not recommend anyone to purchase any food at PaPa's Fried Chicken for any reason. It's a shame to have companies that over price food for the people that pay kind of money to a business that would treat their customers with such disregard and disrespect. Be careful of whom you do business with in Seven Points, Texas. What a shame. Shame on them. If I was starving to death, they would, most likely, turn me away, over money. This was a nice place I visited during my lunch break. It's kind of like a small-scale, locally-owned Furr's or Luby's, maybe even similar to Danny's Barbecue in Athens, Texas, (only here they specialize more in chicken & fish). The parking area seemed spacious enough, and they had a drive-thru, only I chose to walk from my place of work and dine-in. One of my friends went through the drive-thru, but she told me later that no one was working there at the time, so she went somewhere else. So I was glad I had walked & that I ate in. The restrooms were one-seaters, but they were well-maintained. Drink-wise, there wasn't much other than carbonated soft drinks, iced tea (sweet & unsweet), & water. I got a Dr Pepper, but on some later visit, I may choose water or tea. Even though they mostly specialize in chicken, fish, & barbecued meats, they do also have some veggie plates or veggie platters available, which offer some good vegetarian-friendly choices. I got mashed potatoes (& they even do a "gravy well", like in Furrs or Lubys!), macaroni & cheese, & a broccoli/carrot/rice/cheese casserole. They also threw in some warm rolls, which were yummy. And I also got some pecan pie (which I usually won't get in the presence of other, more chocolatey desserts), which was also nice. The staff were friendly & helpful to me. Good old fashioned comfort food. Cafeteria line style. Fried chicken, catfish, BBQ, chicken & dumplings or dressing. A variety of veggies, broccoli rice casserole, cabbage, greens etc. All pretty decent. Eat in or they have a drive thru. Friendly staff & reasonable prices. Special plate lunch daily.
