I am a fan of Papa Murphy's but have never enjoyed it from this location-- twice I have been turned away! On both occasions, I was driving home with my mother after having run errands in the cities. We knew the store would close at 8-- which, if you ask me, is too early for the weekend.
On one occasion, we had decided to pick up a pizza on the way home. We called the store about 15 minutes to close to let them know of our order, we said we would understand if that was cutting it too close, but we were reassured that "Open until 8" meant "Open until 8," and that our pizza would be prepared and ready for a quick pick-up.
Well-- when we showed up (at about 2 minutes to 8), the doors were already locked. My mother knocked on the door and after a few minutes, a sales clerk trudged to the door shaking her head and saying they were closed. My mother introduced herself as the lady who had called, who had been promised service and who had her wallet in her hand. I could see from the car the most insincere apologetic look on the clerk's face. Her excuse given was, "At 8:00, the registers automatically shut down."
Having worked in retail, I doubt this is true. It doesn't make sense for a business to shut down a sure sale. I used to work in a food court, and I hated turning guests away. I even came to be a little infamous among my coworkers, who had to remind me that it's okay to turn someone away 15 minutes after close.
I'm not saying every business should stay open late. Workers need to go home at a reasonable hour. But I would at least expect a reasonable apology after being lied to and turned away! And not to mention, "Open until 8" means "Open and able to accept customers and make orders until 8." The store should change their hours if customers need to guess and work their schedule around how early a worker wants to start cleaning up.
I will never go back to this location and would not recommend it, but I give it two stars. Maybe the workers were having a bad day-- I don't know-- but I still feel they should have done better. read more
