The server was very friendly but due to language barriers, we struggled. The food was not what we were expecting. The fish had bones in it, the potatoes were very dry, the vegetable were not steamed enough with no salt/sauce - very bland, and the food made me kind of sick after we left. I have had several meals here and i have to say that the quality is varied. last time i was there i opted for a creamy pasta dish, which i felt had been nuked in the microwave, as the edges were too cripsy and bits of the pasta was too hard. There have been some very nice meals there, but i would say on the whole that they really are relying on past reputations from when they were first opened, and they need to up their game a bit. Value wise, i feel the meals are overpriced and not as home cooked as i would like! I also find that whilst waiting for the meals, the area in which you are seated is far too small and overcrowded. read more

Not been here before thought try it for a change from our usual Italian in chorley this restaurant is bigger than you think, food was ok but not better than our usual Italian and was 30% dearer my only gripe was the mens toilet there was no light in the cubicle they put t lighters I'n there which I find ridiculous have they not heard of an electrician, I always find the best place to look is a toilet if you want to know what their services are really like as the rest is just for show please explain how you could leave a toilet with no light and put t lighters in there Summing up to expensive food average go for a change but don't go regularly read more

Overpriced for what you get... and they're very backward in coming forwards to tell you when you're actually eligible for any of their special offers (eg early bird discounts). Veggies are particularly badly thought of - over a fiver for a veggie starter of fridge cold, under-ripe melon with some "ice cream van - style" raspberry sauce squirted over the top.... And don't bother making a reservation - we did, and STILL ended up sat in the bar area for nearly 45 mins before we got near our table. Wouldn't waste my money again. read more

I've visited Papa Luigi's quite a few times with colleagues and clients and have not had a bad meal there yet. The restaurant often gets very busy which sometimes means the service is not as quick as it could be. On a Monday, they have a special offer night on pizza and pasta which is very good value (but extremely busy). Other than Monday, the restaurant is not the cheapest place to eat. On the positive side, I reccomend ordering something from the specials board which have always been nice whenever I have had one. read more

We thought we'd try Papa's before we committed a large family gathering to a bit of a celebration (15 year and 40 year anniversary party) - all seemed ok although I though the prices were a little steep. Upon getting my main I explained that I'd never ever received a pizza that didnt have a tomato sauce base. To my surprise there response was "look at the menu - thats what you ordered". Now dont get me wrong, upon reading it I realised it didnt say "Tomato" but really, I've never (ever) seen a pizza without a sauce base. Nevertheless, I can accept the situation and would have gladly paid for another pizza to be made up (it was literally inedible unless you're a cow who needs a salt lick daily!)... They didnt even make a suggestion - they simply said "Well, thats what it says on the menu." After the meal, as I was paying up I explained that I accept it was my fault for not reading the menu correctly (although I repeat, I've never had a pizza without a sauce base), I was again confronted by "Did you show 'him' the menu" and "Well sir, thats what it says on the menu". Not once did anyone ask "What can we do to help", or "How can we help". I even had to wait 5 minutes with my hand constantly waiving, before anyone actually noticed me wanting assistance during the meal.. Surely the point of any meal is to have great food served perfectly and with the right attitude. We'd considered papa's as I though their service would be second to none, but in reality it's a factory with uncaring maitre de and staff and all in all, whilst i'm sure the food (if its what you expect) is fine, in my case I was severely let down by a serious case of bad customer care. As i've mentioned, I accept that it was my fault and never once suggested that it was a fault of theirs (though in my own mind Im still adamant that pizza's always have a sauce base), but the lack of consideration and considerable indifference to my plight means I have to say "buyer beware". Normally a phrase reserved for used car salesmen but in this case, buyer.... "Be Bloody Well Aware". If you buy poorly expect terrible after sales care. Papa's is a great Italian - one of the best (for it's price) in the region. The staff are great; very friendly. Food is always delicious - and on the occasions where something hasn't been right, they get it sorted straight away. It's always busy... which can only be a good sign. Very much enjoy dining here - and will continue to. The price isn't too bad at all, and the offers are really worthwhile - especially at lunch time. We often go here for meals with work - and have never had a bad experience. read more

Has this place changed hands??? Not half as good as it used to be 12 months ago. The service was shocking, we had to wait a short while which was acceptable as it was busy but on bringing our food we werent offered black pepper or parmesan cheese had to ask a different waitress as she brought it to the next table. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks and when the dinner plates were taken away they took the dessert menus away as well, so we didnt bother with a sweet. The food was of a much lesser quality than 12 months ago, garlic bread with cheese very herby, lasagne was like eating tomato puree with pasta it was very harsh, calzone very poor. Seemed like mass produced food not fresh like it has been for last 25 years, wont be going back - shame. read more

We are regular users of the restaurant and have generally been pleased. Visited a few weeks ago and it was disappointing which we put down as a one off but went for the partners birthday meal on the 11th June and it was very disappointing. Both the starter and main were poor and even the garlic bread was a bit soggy. Had many very good experiences but now off our visit list. Most worryingly was the lack of interest in our declared disappointment. read more
