Apparently many years ago this was an Italian restaurant, and has then changed hands several times since. It's now under new ownership and is technically a "Mediterranean" restaurant, but the menu leans very heavily towards Italian with lots of pizza and pasta options. The lunch menu is basically the same as the evening menu, but with reduced prices for the pizza and pasta dishes. I went for the "Red Cat pizza" - chicken, pesto and mushrooms. Very nice, but the base was a bit tough for my liking (although I may have been spoilt by a recent trip to Naples!). My mum had the linguine bolognese which she absolutely loved, and my dad had chicken and mushroom pasta. My dad isn't normally a fan of foreign cuisine, but he absolutely loved this and raved about how good it was. We also shared a bottle of wine which was very nice indeed. Staff were very friendly and attentive, prices were very reasonable (3 main courses, plus garlic bread, a bottle wine and three coffees for under £50) and the food was very good.

Not very welcoming. The pub however looked much more inviting. The staff looked stressed, and there was a minor squabble in the kitchen as I arrived. It's door is right opposite the main entrance, so there was no avoiding that! I was disappointed by the lack of Ales (just 4 shown, but one was Boddingtons and another Timothy Taylor so I don't count them), but the one I opted for was ok. The wine was actually pleasant - better than I have had for £10 per bottle at some other restaurants. Not tried the Kids meals but saw that they offer 1/2 portions of adult meals at half the price - so the little ones don't have to have the usual chicken nuggets. The restaurant does get busy on the Deal days (Tues, Weds, Thurs, Sunday) so you need to book.
