I first tried Papa Diddi's at their Maginhawa branch and they only sell ice cream that have unique Filipino flavors, so I was surprised when I walked by their branch in Ortigas and offering hot meals. The interiors are also to the theme of Papa Diddi's, being a lawyer, so the designs and displays are old typewriters or the hundreds of pages of letters and thesis made by the him.
The food served at this Ortigas branch are mainly from Tuguegarao, with famous dishes like Pansit Batil Patung and their native Longganisa. Dishes are quite salty for me, so best to order their ice cream to balance it. Service is great.
For this visit, we tried:
Pancit Batil Patung - honestly, I've been to Tuguegarao twice, but I haven't tried this dish, because my host often introduce me to Pansit Cabagan (noodles from Isabela) and told me it is better. Haha! Anyway, Batil Patung is more soupy, although the sauce and garnished are served separately, you can adjust the taste to your liking. The noodle itself is quite good, although I think I added too much sauce making it saltier. But, yes, I still prefer Pancit Cabagan over this.
Sinela Anna Lomolomo - Sirloin pork in ginger broth is a good idea and great for breakfast as well as dinner. The meat is tender and the sauce balances the dish.
I heard their omurice is good and highly recommended. Will try that next time. read more
