I visited Ober Mountain in early January of this year and spent 2 days enjoyng activities…read more The first day consisted of participating in the fun pass, which gave us a list of activites we could do on the mountain like going to the zoo, ice skating, ice bumper cars, scenic lifts, etc. As an adult, the pass felt a little underwhelming but I can imagine a kid enjoying their time with this pass. I would recommend that you find a groupon/deal to get it at a cheaper rate rather than the usual $50/ticket they offer it for because I genuinely do not think it is worth the $50. I would definitely NOT recommend the fun pass for adults, but would for children (at the discounted price). Our second day on the mountain, we went snowboarding and that was a very fun time for my group and I. Ober has snow machines, so it is not real snow and instead is icy, artificial snow. I can imagine during the colder season, it may be softer and covered much more. I went in early January for reference. The employees are very nice with helping you strap in boots and understanding how to strap into board as well. I decided to do a lesson, which I would recommend for anyone who has not snowboarded before. Although I enjoyed my time, I do agree that it is fairly pricy, considering the size of the mountain compared to other resorts I have seen. I understand the weather determines which lifts are avaliable but the "snow" was ice, no where near snow texture. I think a day of snowboarding would cost roughly $150+ here for day pass and gear rental. My downsides for Ober are the price, the fun pass, and the snow.

It was worth doing once. Beautiful scenery and very polite staff. September is the perfect month to…read morego. Activities and shopping at the top of the mountain as well food places.

It was so spacious and beautifully decorated and so welcoming. I was there with three other friends and we had a ball. The staff was very accommodating and did their best. We had a bit of a blip, but they did their best to make everything work out. Lee the manager was outstanding. He was anticipatory kind, empathetic, and so well organized. I would recommend this highly to anybody, but I'm kind of afraid because I wanna bring my family back here. And I'm afraid to say that it was too wonderful because that I might not be able to get this wonderful room again just joking. It was really great and well worth it so reasonable so wonderful.

It's a nightmare to get out. They block off a gazillion spots for valet parking which is quite annoying. Our room was nice and had no issues. We didn't use the pool so cannot comment on that. Their gym is super tiny with very little equipment so we didn't workout the days we were there except to run outside. We went to have a drink in the bar one night after coming back to the hotel. The bartender (Samantha) looked at some guy at the bar when we sat down and said "what time is it?" We felt unwanted and rushed so we paid for Our drinks and immediately left. That put a very sour taste in my mouth. When you check in, look for ROBBIE. She is so sweet and gives you lots of information.

We rented Bear Mountain II at Chalet Village in March. We definitely felt the "Luck O' The Irish"…read moreafter making the drive up the winding mountain roads to a beautiful rental home on St. Patrick's Day. If you live in a flat state like I do and are not used to driving on mountain roads, you may want to ensure you arrive before dark. We needed a place for family from both Chicago and Tampa, FL to meet and this was the perfect spot. Once we arrived, it was a nice surprise to find this spacious, clean and comfortable home on the side of a cliff. From the front driveway, the home appears smaller. But once you enter, you are greeted by a beautiful vaulted ceiling, well kept hardwood floors and inviting, open spaces. The 3 bathrooms were all very nicely decorated and we love the large, updated showers. The bear decor throughout the house we stayed in is so charming and the kitchen is very well stocked. It was a treat having a hot tub to sit in after a long day of hiking. We also appreciated the pet friendly accommodations. We've rented VRBO houses before and always end up bringing our own hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper. But the host provided plenty of these items for our entire 3 night stay. We had a gracious host and he was a great communicator. Sadly, we did not see any bears during our stay but witnessed amazing views of the city lights, moon, stars and sunrise from the decks. The swing on the porch, pool table, ice maker and washer dryer are added bonuses too. We highly recommend this area, if you can drive on the challenging mountain curves, Great Gatlinburg getaway!
