Despite the high-falootin' name and all the Italian connotations that go with it, Panini is just a regular 'butty' shop of which there are a great number in the area. They sell a range of baguettes, sandwiches and, of course, paninis with all the usual variety of fillings you might expect - tuna, spicy chicken, ham - all tasty enough and good value enough to put you off making a trip to Greggs. So far, so completely unsurprising. There are two great things about this place though, two things that separate it from the pack (would sandwich shops run in packs if they could?). The first are the bagels - I love a bagel and you can get a delicious bagel filled with anything you can get in a sandwich (personally I always go for beef - it's not my beloved salt beef, but it's good). The second factor that elevates Panini is their 'breakfast in a box' which consists of egg, bacon and sausage in a polystyrene tray for just £1.99. Throw in a cup of black coffee and there are few better ways to start the day for under £4. read more
