What a fun little place right next to Recoleta cemetery which makes it a good spot to grab a snack or stop for a meal while taking visitors to see the sights. Colorful and playful artwork make it seem unique and the menu offers a good variety. The staff was friendly and the place has a great patio space and cute little bakery with items to go. I tried the raspberry and lime fresh juice drink which was delicious. The alfajor sandwich was a little different. One tends to think sweet cookie like bread, but I guess to make it more savory, it was more like a dry shortbread. I tried the one with (shredded) chicken and caramelized onions (which means pickled and sweet). It was interesting but not my favorite. The chef's pick turned out to be a huge steak with roasted russett potatoes wedges and broiled cherry tomatoes which were freshly delicious. The meat was slathered in BBQ sauce which was tasty but didn't hide the quality of the meat. The omelet had a good presentation, served directly from the frying pan Don't skip out on dessert they have so many to chose from in the dessert case.

The cakes are very chocolatey but very dry. The coffees and breakfast were delicious.

Service was ok, I guess that's the standard here in Buenos Aires. Food was ok but way overpriced ( even for tourists with dollars)

We retuned here after 22 years, and this classic 19th century French cafe still delivers. Elegant…read moresurroundings, a line that moved quickly pleasant staff, who tolerated my rusty Spanish with a bit of their English. Came in for an afternoon bite to hole us over for a late dinner. Very good hard cider on tap, a good Chardonnay. Now, the classic medialuna (half moon: a croissant with hame and cheese is made with sweet dough--many are glazed. ) my limo sandwich with roasted rosemary potatoes had regular savory bread. The churros are filled with Dulce de leche and a a bit denser than in NYC. The hot chocolate is served in two pitchers--chocolate & hot milk-- make your own. They also have tango shows in a small theater in back.

It's the oldest cafe in Buenos Aires and I liked the old school feel of it. We ordered a cafe con leche (latte), a tostada mixto (ham and cheese toastie sandwich), and a medialuna (smaller sweet croissant pastry). The portions were large so definitely shareable. The latte and the tostada mixto were good. Service was good as well, faster than I expected (I'm from NYC where everything is fast haha). The reviews said service was slow which I did not experience but it could be that I came early in the morning so it wasn't busy.
