The practice has several physicians, so we have seen a couple of the others when baby was sick. They are equally as good. I'm extremely disappointed with the level of service we experienced. We had an appointment…read morescheduled, only to arrive and be told it had been moved to a different day, without any notification to us. Staff indicated the change was "made in the system," but it certainly wasn't done by us. By the time we arrived, there were no other doctors available to see my daughter, and we were told they couldn't accommodate us. This was after we had already driven to the office, my daughter missed school, and her father took time off work. What's most frustrating is the lack of accountability and communication. If the appointment needed to be rescheduled, a simple call or message would have avoided the entire situation. To make matters worse, I followed up directly with the doctor via email and never received a response. not even a brief acknowledgment or apology. We've never had issues here before, which makes this experience even more surprising. Unfortunately, this incident reflects a significant lapse in both communication and patient care.

I've been to a couple of other doctors in Koreatown, but a lot of them did not live up to my standards. Dr. Kim is very professional and highly knowledgeable. She doesn't rush you like some other doctors and takes time to listen to you and thoroughly go over your medical history. She patiently answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. You can tell that she really cares about her patients. I'd also say the check-in procedure was very quick and I barely had to wait, which was nice for me since I had to go back to work. The receptionists were very friendly and they also validate parking! (The parking garage is located on Robertson) The appointment process was also very easy and convenient. I called the number listed on her website and was able to make an appointment that fit my busy work schedule. Dr. Kim is the best, I highly recommend her and I will be back for my physical next year!! Thank you Dr. Kim!!

We have always liked Dr. Shimoyama herself and found her to be kind and thorough. Unfortunately,…read moreafter our experience last week, we have decided to change to another physician. Our nearly 16-year-old son had a minor, scheduled surgery this week and needed a routine pre-operative clearance. The appointment was booked in advance and required only a standard checkup, no lab work. Both my wife and I brought him to the 9:00 a.m. appointment but needed to leave for work immediately afterward. In our profession, we cannot arrive late, and we explained this clearly at check-in. We also stated that we fully consented to the visit and that our son was comfortable completing the remainder of the appointment on his own. Despite this, the front desk staff insisted that a parent must remain for the entire visit and stated that this was non-negotiable. When we asked whether we could reschedule later that day or the following day, we were told the next available appointment would be in two months. This would have required postponing our son's surgery by several months due to his athletic schedule, which was simply not practical. Fortunately, a physician friend referred us to a doctor outside the Cedars-Sinai network who was able to see our son on short notice and clear him for surgery. While Dr. Shimoyama is excellent, the lack of flexibility, communication, and problem-solving from the office staff made it impossible for us to continue with this practice. This was a disappointing experience, especially given how much we otherwise respected the physician.

We have two daughter's 9 and 7.5, and it's been 9 years we've been visiting Dr. Peng…read more Dr. Peng is an incredibly knowledgable and kind doctor; he is so patient and takes all the time to make sure all your concerns are answered. The office staff are very nice and friendly too, we hardly ever wait at the lobby, and pretty much we get to see the doctor right at our appointment time. Our girls love the doctor and sometimes they just find an excuse to go and see him; they actually miss him and they love visiting him. At the beginning we had some trouble understanding his pronunciation but it didn't take long to understand him; as I said he is very patient and he doesn't mind repeating and explaining himself. If the kids are sick, he always calls you after the visit to see how the child is doing and if we need any help; he calls you for the lab and X-ray results himself, and He returns your call when you leave a message after office hours. We love Dr. Peng, and we are so thankful for him, may God give him a long healthy life.

I share this story as a new parent, sleep deprived and a little frazzled, but truly thankful to Dr…read more Peng. My wife took our newborn daughter in for a routine checkup the other day right before lunch time. Being new parents we almost always over pack wherever we go, even if its for a short doctor visit (who knows when our daughter will need a back up, back up pacifier, and use up 20 diapers). She rolled into the office with a stroller/car seat combo, diaper bag, etc etc, had a great appointment, and though this was born from a little miscommunication still wanted to share to illustrate the type of doctor he is. My wife asked if she could "leave this here and run across the street to the Northridge Hospital (Dr. Peng's office is across the street, another big plus)." This conversation was happening while our daughter was singing the songs of her people (translation: crying at the top of her lungs), so it was lost in translation that my wife meant "this" as in the stroller/car seat and diaper bag. Dr. Peng took a pause and said "ok, we can make this work." He carefully picked up our screaming child and started gently shushing her. My wife was putting on her baby carrier and then reached out for the child. He was a little confused and said, "I thought you wanted me to watch her till you got back?" Two things dawned on my wife then: 1) This doctor was willing to either skip his lunch or delay it to watch over our child. He also probably thought it weird, but I'm sure its not the strangest thing a sleep deprived new parent has done. 2) We absolutely picked the right doctor. We went to a few other doctor's offices prior to birth and before picking Dr. Peng. His wasn't the fanciest, or largest office, but we also noticed the fancier the office space the more we waited and the less attention we received. We never feel rushed, we never feel like our concerns are ignored, he listens and responds with options of treatment and explains the pros and cons of each. When we were at the hospital during/after delivery and the nurses asked who our pediatrician was, the response was always met with a big smile and statements like he is always at the hospital visiting the babies, how great he is, and how they personally choose him as their own because of all their great experiences. Dr. Peng, thank you.
