And they have quite the collection, ranging from the classics, to local authors, to kids books, to trending best-sellers, to books celebrating the differently abled. It's great to see a small but stellar assortment of literature, and I think it's important to support local bookstores. If they don't have what you're looking for, they're happy to order books as well. It seemed like he often got a lot of people coming in just to see what the store was about and it was not what I was expecting! He basically has miniature models of scenes that you can paint to create your own world for a game (the name escapes me), but it seemed to be a very customizable hobby. He had a few regulars and coworkers in there with him and they were all nice and introduced themselves as well. All in all, seemed like a very chill place and could be where you pick up your next hobby!

He was able to direct us to the sections that had comics we were interested in and also recommended where the free comics were in the store. Since we had our kiddo with us, he also mentioned that on select Saturday's the store has new free comics for kids and also gives free comics for good grades which I thought was a great incentive. You can find classics like Archie to newer titles in here. They also had a little sticker bin which was well-stocked with One Piece stickers which got my family excited. We also looked into purchasing some early reader Pokemon books while in there, but opted to wait until our next visit. Over all, the price of everything seemed reasonable and again, Jesse was very helpful and a welcoming face!

I've been coming here for a while but that's no longer going to be the case after my last encounter…read morewith the owner here. I handed him a stack of cards to look at for trade-in. After he looked at all the cards he was reluctant to give me a number. So I had to play the guessing game and just figure out what he was valuing it at. I had already done research on my cards so I knew what they were worth in my head. Well over $100. I asked him if he would trade for a $20 card and a $10 card. Making the value $30. I knew I was taking a loss but I didn't really Care, I figured I might as well trade cards I don't want for some cards I do want even if I'm taking a Loss in value. He said no way, It's impossible to get to that value, I'm valuing your cards at like $15. So I just laughed, Got on my phone and started getting screen shots of the values of all my cards So I can show him what I'm seeing. I finally get around to explaining to him the values of my cards with picture proof, And he says yeah but you're pulling that up on an app, Apps generate fake Sales too so it's not reliable. And then he said he goes off of eBay Instead. Funny thing is when you click on the links on the app it takes you to the eBay listing and it shows the price it was sold at. So I told him this is eBay, And by the way eBay is also an app. Then he just started arguing, And acting obnoxious. Saying he doesn't use apps, Blah blah blah. He also went on to say eBay is full of fake sales, but had just said he doesn't use apps, just eBay sales. I told him that everybody Uses these apps to determine the value of cards. He asked me who is everybody. I said other collectors, Other card shops. And he said are they running my business? And then he said when you order something on eBay can you get it in 30 seconds. And I said no. And he said exactly that's the benefit of retail is that you can get it in 30 seconds and not have to pay for Shipping and fees. I said OK well you're just making my point stronger than because that means people paid more than what you're saying my cards are worth not only on price, But they also paid fees and shipping. Got to the point where I just had to leave, When I got out to my car I realized I had forgotten my drink inside and went back in. When I went back in he said some smart comment to me, In front of another customer. Just more of his usual nonsense. This guy is an absolute clown, And to his question about if these other places and people are running your business, No they are not. And that's why they are bigger than you, And that's why they have more product than you when you have none. The only product you have Is what you buy at another retail store, because nobody is sending you anything. You're too small of a business. And it's probably because of how small your way of thinking is.

They have an excellent array of new toy collectibles, vintage toys, parts, grab bags, MOC, video games, reissues, comics, lunchboxes, etc... etc... One thing that really pleases me about this place is that since I started going there a few years ago, they've expanded their girl-centric vintage toys. I've purchased many pink box Barbies from them for my collection. I feel like their prices are fair when you compare costs to the same items on eBay which is kind of exploitative to sellers anyway. I haven't sold anything to DVT yet, but I feel like I could trust that they would be fair. I think it's important to understand what DVT specializes in and not walk in expecting to sell them just anything and get a pretty penny for it. They do a great job of organizing and displaying everything as well and they keep their social media updated daily with new merchandise. They also have celebrity meet and greets too which is fun and they also have the occasional sidewalk sale (so sad I missed the last one). I really can't understand why anyone would rate DVT low. It's an amazing place.

The first time I went there, it was admittedly a bit overwhelming as it took me an hour or so just to get a grasp on the lay of the land. DVT really shines with vintage Star Wars and GI Joe '70s and '80s figures, vehicles, and playsets - both loose, on card and in box. It's just as much of an art gallery as it is a retail business. DTV has a dedicated room of officially graded toys if you're looking very top of the line, several thousand dollars in value. And it also has loose complete Star Wars figures you can buy for $24.99, depending on the character. I really enjoy re-releases of my favorite toys growing up, and often prefer commemorative editions so I can enjoy the nostalgia without the heavy financial investment, and DVT has good finds of later releases. There's so much variety. If you don't prefer figures, you might score an item like the Yoda puppet from Empire Strikes Back or other merchandise you don't see all the time. While DVT makes its high-value offerings visible, you might very well dig up some treasure in the aisles as you browse. This past weekend, I came across the Hot Toys Jack Nicholson '89 Joker 1/6 scale figure - an undeniable Grail. It was just hanging out in the Batman section on the shelf with the rest. I forced myself not to look in the box and walk away as I've never seen it in person - I knew I would fall in love. It's $500 I don't have to explain to my wife! While I have purchased a few things from DTV, I am not familiar with the experience of selling a collection there. In the late 90s/early 2000s, I sold many of my old figures to a similar establishment and really regret it. What I will say is that Shaun and his staff are readily available for advice and to bounce ideas off of, and so, if you want to sell, it's definitely worth consulting with them. Just know you very well could get a third of what you perceive your collection to be worth - and that's anywhere. These businesses need to eat and pay bills just like the rest of us! If you haven't been to this nostalgia museum, take some time to relax, know your spending limits before walking in, and enjoy. May the Force Be With You!

I'm in there for five minutes ready to buy four or five funkos I was eyeing when someone comes out the back and says store is closed. It was 5:45PM and they should close at 8:00PM. Not worth supporting them anymore I recommend if you are looking for Funko Pops to try Free Range Pumpkins, Wild West Weebs, or Wild West Comics. All three locations are in much nicer areas and are actually open when they specify they are.

I used to buy at Barnes & Noble and Amazon, but this place has a much better price and promotions. Although not my thing, this store has a section for Warhammers, D&D, and living card games. It also hosts tournaments and game demos, of which schedule can be found on the store website or social. The only minus point is there is no shipping if you're from out of town. But that what keeps this place a hidden gem of DFW.
